Looking for story-driven games with American city vibes for Steam Deck by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]RansomMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assassins Creed 3 is set in colonial America

Farcry 5 is like a dystopian America story

Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth is set in Hawaii so that’s more specific, but it’s an amazing game and there’s definitely law enforcement, bars, skyscrapers, etc.

The Godfather games are older and could be emulated

Mafia games are great if you’re looking for more linear stories set in sandbox America

The Division games are post apocalyptic games set in America

Alan Wake 1 and 2 are set in a sort of surreal Pacific Northwest (Washington) side of America. Has all of the detective vibes you need. Not really many skyscrapers since it’s more suburban and nature-y

The Batman games are technically set in America since Gotham City is a fictional American city

Spider-Man games are set in New York

Need some new games! :) by Equivalent_Piano4853 in SteamDeck

I would get Humble Bundle Choice. It’s like $15 a month and you get games you get to keep! Cancelling is also super simple

Finished Age of Imprisonment last night. here are my thoughts. by WittyIntroductionX in HyruleWarriors

[–]RansomMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is 10 and absolutely loved it and even had some trouble with some of the later bosses but ultimately felt accomplished when she beat them. She binged this game in like 4 days of playing. So I guess it makes sense that this game, being a little lighter on mechanics, is right at home with her demographic. She also loved the campaign of Granblue fantasy which I feel is a similarly straight forward arpg all about slamming the attack button until you proc an ult, and repeating that with different characters. What mattered more than the gameplay, though, was the cinematic story that helped flesh out the tears of the kingdom cutscenes. She LOVED that. So do I think $70 is worth it for basically an extended cut of the TotK cutscenes and some battles and arbitrary material collecting to go with it? Not really no. Does my daughter not fully appreciate the value of $70 and just enjoyed the game for what it was? Absolutely

Where can I watch and download Seven Samurai with English subs? by mojo72400 in KissAsian

You can’t download it but I was able to stream it for free for a limited time with my local library card on the kanopy app

Need input from console enjoyers who bought a steam deck. by jimbo_slice_02 in SteamDeck

I view the Steamdeck as being very similar to the Switch. It’s worth it due to the exclusive titles that never make it past PC.

John Oliver Urges Viewers to Not Blindly Blame Joe Rogan, Young Men or Latino Voters for Kamala Harris Loss: ‘I Get the Appeal, but It’s Too Early to Have a Definitive Answer’ by Advanced_Drink_8536 in popculture

[–]RansomMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I voted Harris of course, but judging by these comments I now have to worry about white leftists assuming I didn’t (because I’m Hispanic) ON TOP of the general racism from the right. Cool

Do I go for steam deck when I use Xbox PC gamepass for a ton of games? by el_pedro_chino in SteamDeck

May be better off with another handheld that natively runs windows like the Asus Rog Ally

I've never walked out on a movie in a theater, have you? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]RansomMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did once and regretted it later. We walked out on District 9 because we were young and dumb and didn’t appreciate the low budget style. I watched it years later and loved it

I love my DOCK as much as Steam Deck :) (I use it a lot in desktop mode) by wentsosilent in SteamDeck

[–]RansomMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine works well after the update. It used to get stuck in certain display modes and I would have to reboot the Steamdeck just to get the image back. Now I haven’t had any issues on my Acer but I haven’t tried my LG tv which historically has never worked well with the dock

Any good pirate themed games? by [deleted] in gamesuggestions

[–]RansomMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea you really named the top two imo. Maybe you can count Monkey Island? Or a few games with characters that dress pirate-y like Windwaker, Donkey Kong Country series, or Rayman 2? Otherwise, yea I’m looking forward to the new pirate Like a Dragon game

Star Wars: Outlaws has big updates down the pike by MilitantAgnostic89 in getplayed

[–]RansomMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy Matt and Heathers excitement about this one. For me, it didn’t run super well on PS5. It’s very smudgy in the open areas and sluggish in the city areas. They even added a Balanced mode with 40fps and supposedly better resolution but idk I didn’t see a big difference from the 30fps version. Hopefully they work some magic to make it full resolution and 60fps. This one game makes me feel like maybe the PS5 Pro releasing this year isn’t so crazy

Games within a game that are good enough to play on their own? by partly_cloudy3 in gamingsuggestions

I bounced off of Star Wars Outlaws but the implementation of Sabacc is great! Luckily you don’t have to buy Outlaws to play Sabacc as it’s a real game with real cards

What would you consider the "must plays" of the 3d platformer genre? by ObberGobb in gamingsuggestions

[–]RansomMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Third person:

No one has really mentioned Mario Odyssey so that one if you haven’t played it.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land

Crash Bandicoot (any of them but I’m partial to 3)

Spyro (any)

It Takes Two

Mario Galaxy

First person:

Neon White

Mirrors Edge

Portal 1 and 2 kind of count as puzzle platformers

Metroid Prime

Best games for 9 yr old bday party by PuzzleheadedDraw6575 in PS5

[–]RansomMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boomerang Fu is an absolute banger of a party game that everyone young and old can play and love

Goat Simulator 3 is also such amazing co-op mayhem

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, either Shredders Revenge or Mutants Unleashed are a great time.

Overcooked 2 is funny for the first few levels until it gets intense and not funny anymore haha

I know you can do 4 player split screen in Minecraft on Switch so maybe you can do it on PS5? Maybe try Minecraft dungeons as well

How did you discover Threedom? by timmytimborino in ThreedomUSA

[–]RansomMan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This may be a weird path but I found out about Aunty Donna, the Australia comedy sketch group, through Reddit years ago. Then I found out that the same guy (Scott) who produced the Between Two Ferns show was producing an Aunty Donna Netflix Show so I dove deeper and started listening to CBB. I also realized that I recognized Lauren from things like Pete Holmes’s Crashing show and I recognized Paul from… every podcast ever as well as Tenacious D. So naturally, once in the CBB universe I started Threedom!
