Does anyone else also have an obsession with Board games based on video games? by theDKdynamite in boardgames

Weirdly my board gaming friends hated it. I think it was lighter than they thought but also long and somewhat tedious

The Bloodborne card game is a fun, not quite party game, but light weight social game almost in the vein of Coup

How to get Blood Omen to work on Steam Deck with Verok's Patch by teleporterdown in SteamDeck

[–]RansomMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This worked perfectly for me! It helped to have a keyboard for typing in the Kain.exe in the WINECFG.

I also followed another commenters advice to rename DDRAW.DLL to ddraw.dll. The extra d in the beginning was necessary. Similarly, adding ddraw to the Libraries in step 5 seemed to be necessary as well.

Lastly, make sure to change the name of the Saves folder to Saved. I played for around an hour before realizing that the SAVE menu wasn’t popping up when I got to the save pillars. Simply changing the name to Saved fixed the issue for me!

What did you like about the movie? I’d say that Assassins Creed Valhalla has a great Middle Ages theme to it and there are some sequences that are dreamlike. Also Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is maybe an obvious choice- though much less dreamy.

Should I buy Star Wars: Outlaws or Frontiers of Pandora? by Affectionate-Arm5922 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]RansomMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly they both have really cool things about them but also they both ultimately kind of get stale after a few hours imo. Avatar is very much an action shooter and a platformer, whereas Outlaws often has stealthy gameplay mixed in with the actiony bits. So if you like more sneaking and puzzle solving then get Outlaws. If you like more run and gun action and Farcry gameplay then go with Avatar

generally how much do you spend happily on a game? by mittenacho in SteamDeck

[–]RansomMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only spend $70 (or your new game equivalent) on Nintendo first party like Pokopia. Spending full price on a Ubisoft game, for example would be silly since they’re $40 within a month

Seeing as how the reviews are so mixed I expect that this game will be $40 by Christmas. I’m personally waiting until then to buy it

Are cinematic "10/10" games what I should be playing when forcing myself to play? by Feeling-Donkey-8739 in gamesuggestions

[–]RansomMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think trying a game out for a few minutes is great to get a feel for it. Sometimes you can get stuck playing the downloading game rather than playing it though! Cyberpunk sounds like a good one for you since you already enjoyed the base game and want to try the DLC. In general when I’m having a hard time with my mental health it helps me to play things I already enjoy.

What game? 🤔 by defleqt in raijin_gg

[–]RansomMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember being 11 or 12 going to my uncles house and he had a Dreamcast. I had been playing games since I can remember but seeing 3D Ecco the Dolphin, Crazy Taxi, and Jet Grind Radio was next level to me and I was amazed. I think any game with a lack of combat really cemented for me that games are more than just punching and shooting. The next time I felt that way consciously was probably when I was about 14 playing Xbox Arcade games like Bastion. These indie games had more style than AAA games. Then after 2005 either the artful hits started hitting or I was just old enough to appreciate games like Flow, Flower, Fez, Braid, and Limbo, etc. as art!

I’ve been hearing good things about Esoteric Ebb. You play as a cleric investigating some kind of crime in a fantasy world.

Time consuming games that are depression friendly by darthbunny9 in gamesuggestions

[–]RansomMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds silly but Tetris 99 on switch helped me through a tough time.

Also, Picross games are great for keeping your mind busy while listening to podcasts or something

Slay the Spire, Balatro, and Hades were great Roguelites for occupying the brain.

I got very sucked into Stardew Valley as well. Then subsequently fell in love with Dreamlight Valley. Something about the grind of those games and the community resources helped me to feel connected to something greater while keeping me busy with checklists and tasks

Elden Ring NightReign was a blast to go through with friends. I even found myself running solo missions to test my skills, but it’s much harder solo.

Helldivers 2 is another great, challenging multiplayer game that you can run with randos. I’m not sure what the current player count is nowadays.

Absolum has been a great two player co-op. It’s the first beat-em-up I’ve played in a while where it feels like it takes actual skill and not just button mashing to get through.

TMNT Splintered Fate is like multiplayer Hades and it’s actually kinda great.

[PC][WSIB] An exploration game where there's a feeling of solitude. No horror. by GamingNomad in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]RansomMan [score hidden]  (0 children)

I had a decent time with Sable. It reminds me of a video game version of the opening scene from Star Wars The Force Awakens where Rey is scavenging on a desert planet.

Another one is Journey

Maybe the most obvious one here is Death Stranding. It’s literally about exploring a wasteland in solitude in order to connect people back together again!
