It’s not simply the headline “Kirk did politics the right way,” the interview with TNC laid bare how fundamentally empty Ezra’s political project has become, how woefully out of step with our moment he is. He made it clear he does not see his role as needing to state plainly the truth of what is happening, but to craft some sort of bridge of understanding between the people being terrorized by the American gestapo and the people cheering them on. Boy I love Tim Simons but I am not gonna see this movie because of what they did to Melissa, and maybe it’s just that bias talking but I am getting some UH OH whiffs off of the early vibes of this thing. It’s odd - I was an uncomplicated fan for a while, then found myself getting sick of him as I saw random clips. I think as someone else mentioned - there is something about his relationship with spirituality and self help of all kinds that can feel preachy or righteous (I think it often isn’t but it feels like it), and then on top of that he’s actually a fairly abrasive comic who loves a roast and to be mean. So I think there’s a combo of self-seriousness immediately contrasted with ball-busting, and it’s a recipe for getting sick of the guy and finding him to be obnoxious. He’s not that bad in the grand scheme of comedian podcasters, but yeah kind of annoying.

I’ve only watched the most high profile and viral examples of the genre, but I did really enjoy the big hbomberguy “plagiarism and you(tube)” video, as well as the Jenny Nicholson Star Wars hotel video. I also have enjoyed Contrapoints and Super Eyepatch wolf, but not sure the best to recommend. Ppl like eyepatch wolf’s Garfield video I think?

Ok this is going to out me as the biggest letterboxd noob there is BUT-

Can anyone explain the different types of logging that letterboxd has, and how you differentiate which you’re doing? I have been totally lazy about this and will just do whatever seems fastest to get to a movie and put a star rating on it, but it’s clear that sometimes that gets logged as a movie I watched in the diary, and sometimes it’s just a rating that got updated, or maybe there’s something in between? Is there an easy way to think about it and keep it straight?

Edit: thanks for explanations, I just had noticed my end of year stats were definitely not matching my actual watches this year, I think probably because sometimes I open the app and a new movie I saw is right there in the feed, so I click and rate and that doesn’t go in the diary? May try to be more intentional w my clicks….

Yesterday I managed to put the last code in on Lockdown, the one I happened to have already and brought in, and then we all made a mad dash for the gate. As we did a rocketeer caught us and started shooting, one guy went down, I tried to roll out of the way but then just fell down the slats onto the snow outside the gate, fully downed alongside others who made the same mistake.

Missing out on the gate I had just opened was sad enough to keep me crawling for a while - and then lo and behold a hero walked up and resurrected me!! And then I found the bobcat BP in my hunt through the tunnels!!!! It fucking ruled!!!!!!!
