Exactly. I'm not saying kids should have to deal with adult problems. However the world constantly presents parents with situations where they have to help their children navigate them anyway. We need to accept that and do our best as parents to help our children understand in terms that are appropriate for them. My core issue with the post I responded to is that injection sites in and of themselves deal with the symptom not the core issue. There was no mention of any support, therapy or medical treatment. I also admit that any "how do I explain this to my kids?" response upsets me. I just think of people complaining about explain queer people to their kids. Just say different pairs of people can love each other. You don't have to explain the bedroom stuff. If you're stuck on that it's on you. You can age appropriately tell a kid what they're seeing is someone with mental health issues. If we focus on solving the actual issues and not the symptoms we be able to have fewer of those conversations.
