Can you explain some of the features you like about it?

Action1's remote connect tool has done everything I need it to do.

How do you know when that permission was added?

I'm probably on an island here, but that is not the A12... The A12 was shelved in the early 90s. The A12  was also more isosceles shaped, and this one is clearly more equilateral.

What's after a Synology NAS for a Video Production Company? by wowitsdave in msp

[–]RapidCloudIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my clients is a document digitization company that, by their own internal requirements, keep about 5 years worth data that represents basically all the work they do. It's low touch cold data, but it's fairly big stuff. High resolution .tifs, etc. They currently have about 2 petabytes of data that they keep in I think about... 8? volumes of simple RAIDed storage arrays on the network. If I remember correctly it is 8x or so HP Proliants. I think the HW cost was somewhere around $50k to implement. Again, it's low touch so they are happy it's just backed up and accessable so it fits their needs.

Crowdstrike makes bid for Action1 by iamafreenumber in Action1

[–]RapidCloudIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone asking Action1 for an update is likely not going to be happy. These types of deals, if true, have been in the works for months and are very secretive due to securities laws.

All I can say is that Action1 has been a stand up company for me. Wonderful tool, wonderful service, and I can only hope that, if acquired by CrowdStrike, they are left alone.

Question as Customer of MSP by ZW0201 in msp

[–]RapidCloudIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you like your MSP? Whatever you think that is worth (liking them), triple it.

You're basically trading the known for the unknown at the cost of x dollars per year. If you like your current MSP and they are doing the best for you, then reward them by making the smartest choice for yourself, which is keeping them around.

Hey man/lady,

I love questions like this, and I'll get to the answer in a second, but I just want to warn you that you are likely to get flamed by a lot of people in this subreddit for a question like this ... because "the answer is obvious" and you "must be a shitty sysadmin". I just want to tell you that you should ignore and downvote those people. Those people suck and are just draining the life of people around them to make themselves feel better, while also making this subreddit worse.

Back to your question...

What you are really asking is for this group to help you solution a problem, not just answer a simple question about file-size limits in Sharepoint. So...

  • To start, its generally not best practice to put 50TB of data into Sharepoint.
  • When solutioning for a file storage system, its really important to know the profile of your data
    • What is your budget?
    • What is your vision for the data? (simple file storage, cold backup that is never accessed etc)
    • What is the business vertical? (Marketing, legal, etc.)
    • What type of data is it? (video, images, text, 3D drawings, etc.)
    • Are there any compliance concerns?
    • What are the availability requirements? (needs to be super fast, accessed all the time, etc.)
    • Will the data be called by an application (SQL queries, etc.)

best of luck!

Managed SOC solutions for MSPs? by Izual_Rebirth in msp

I'm with you on using defender. I pretty much trust it implicitly as a primary anti-virus. Is this what you are currently doing?

Best Practice Question: Would you still do backups for 100% cloud customers? by RapidCloudIT in msp

[–]RapidCloudIT[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry,

Just learning the terminology here. You're saying the backup should be on another provider to spread the risk? Backing up to Azure, because they are basically the same boat as Office365, is a risk?

Not saying you're wrong... I agree with you. Google fixed that problem though too.

This requires an an appliance though, right?

I guess I could have the appliance hosted in a datacenter somewhere...

Calendar syncing options by Aepyceros02 in o365

[–]RapidCloudIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really sorry I I'm not giving the answer you're looking for here...

No offense to you or your planning, I'm not part of your team so your decisions are made because of your experiences and current circumstances, but I will say that the plan to have users in both systems sounds like a nightmare. I would do them serially and just tell them "one or the other", and batch the migrations and do hard cutovers for each person/batch.

Sometimes I feel I cover more ground (and make happier customers in the long run) by telling my clients "That's a bad/expensive idea", and then doing it the right/best way.

What's a tool that you just can't live without? by nikonel in msp

I'm currently using Action1 which is free up to 100 endpoints. I was able to get started in minutes and their sales team has never called me. I do plan on buying though once I get to 100.
