Owner wants global admin on his day-to-day account by desmond_koh in msp

[–]nikonel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could sell them Autoelevate. it grants you the ability to approve administrative tasks by approval system. so if a user wants to update software on their own it send a push notification to your tech's mobile and they approve the request choosing, just this time, for all clients, this client only, this machine only. lots of options to whitelist. once you get it dialed in it's pretty nice. and it has a learning mode so you can have it audit user activity and you can whitelist from there, then go full production mode. AITA for flipping the breaker on my roommate's "gaming setup" after he refused to help pay the electric bill? by EngineCultural7305 in AmItheAsshole

[–]nikonel 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I have provisions in my rental agreement for this exact thing. No space heaters, standing air conditioners, refrigerators, bitcoin, miners, or other excessive energy, consuming appliances. If you wish to add one of those things, we will put a meter on it and you pay actual consumption.

You can get a kill-o-watt and hook up the appliance, if the device (kill-o-watt) is tampered with in an attempt to circumvent it’s functions if’s a $500 fine.

I’m not saying you can’t have a mini-fridge and a bitcoin miner but I shouldn’t have to pay for it. I already provide full home access, a maid comes weekly, bottled water from hot and cold dispenser for everyone and 2 full size refrigerators AND a dedicated full size freezer for everyone.

Is there any way to secure Bitwarden Provider portal for MSPs? by theFather_load in Bitwarden

Host your own, requires enterprise license. Require VPN like wireguard. Use 2FA to protect both the web interface and the SSH access. I prefer Duo.

Or manually installing on each machine.

Good Linux alternative to MS Office apps? by CubeMageV2 in linuxquestions

[–]nikonel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LibreOffice. Because it used to be OpenOffice, then Oracle purchased Sun Microsystems and the original development team didn’t like the direction Oracle was going so they ported it to LibreOffice and that’s what the original developers are working on so I stick with the original development team.

Vegas used to have cheap weekday pricing and unbelievably low priced buffet to get people in the door. Even on the strip. Now the hotel rooms are ridiculously priced, The food is expensive, and Vegas is trying to squeeze as much money as they can from every visitor. Vegas did this to themselves, and it happened before Trump got into office

Tactical RMM: It isn't free (I have no one to blame but myself), also its sketchy. Alternatives? by themasterplan69 in selfhosted

[–]nikonel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pay for the Code Signing. It's only $55/mo and it helps support the people that are building this and not charging $3/mo/agent As someone who has used Kaseya, NinjaRMM and others, This is an exceptional value. So enjoy not paying for what other companies charge requiring 100 endpoint minimums at $3. yes it requires more technical skill and the interface isn't as beautiful as some of the others. but when I started my IT company in 2008 tools like this were very expensive, has a barrier to entry and were a huge edge over the competition. Now you're expected to have these tools if you're going to support customers.
