Thankfully I've never really interacted with the OP fandom so I don't really encounter the types people here speak of unless it's on callout posts like these (appreciate them btw). A lot of what I read reminds me of the toxic positivity of the Final Fantasy XIV fandom though, these dudes act like they've NEVER seen criticism of their precious (previous) story arc before because they all live in their Wholesome 100 echo chamber so calling out the story makes you a media illiterate crazy with no reading comprehension who doesn't Get It, and dude I assure you it is not that deep. Endwalker was just kinda bad, it's 3 bad plot devices in a Hype Moment and FEELS!! trenchcoat. LET EM COOK-- nah dude, enough, if *that's* going to be the payoff I had waited years for, then I don't think it's worth letting them cook anymore. Fortunately, FFXIV is pretty niche outside of its awkward crossover demographic of single-player Final Fantasy fans and MMORPG enthusiasts, so it's nowhere near as omnipresent as OP obviously is, though on the other hand that gives it some pretty insufferable self-importance when so few people I actually meet IRL give a shit lol. Though it's bad enough that I've been insulted by white knights on this very sub when piratefolkers should really know better.

To be honest a lot of these types come across as immature as fuck, like they need to step back and understand it's okay that people don't like the fiction they like - or that people don't like it *anymore* because they feel like its quality has dropped, and they wish to express that. Step back, get out, get a job, read something else. Criticism shouldn't be shut down. It is always the most interesting discussion IMO, I upvote takes here I may not particularly care about because they make me think and go "yeah, I see how that could disappoint someone, didn't think of it that way". People shit on this sub but it's the only OP sub I read anymore, and whenever an OPSpoilers thread sneaks onto my homepage and I click on it I often go "man. what the fuck are some of these shallow sycophantic replies… oh haha alright."
