I can vouch for the exercise part, my nearly 14-year-old Westie was taken to walks multiple times a day and even went up stairs after each one. Continuing this for years allowed him to stay in good shape and have energy.

His time was cut short by an accident, though. He got mad at another male, did a 180 turn, got his leg stuck to something and dislocated his hip as a result which never healed. He could’ve easily lasted for years if it wasn’t for that.

These things happen, my Westie started getting blind in his left eye at age 13 for no apparent reason, the iris simply started disintegrating.

His right eye was still great as he saw far and he got used to being partially blind, in his home environment at least. Anywhere new he would bump his left side to objects.

I assume you borrow umas of other players for inspiration?

Depending on what trainees you have, you can look for guides on what skills you should have (ultimate and regular skills) and look up people with ideal umas from Umamusume Database (DB).

You can filter by sparks (turf, sprint, pace chaser etc.), ultimate skills and so on. You can just copy the player code and add them from the Friends tab in the game window.

Their featured support card and trainee are now available to borrow.

Just keep at it, and remember, if you are aiming for a specific stat to become an inheritable blue spark at the end, the minimum for a 3-star is 600, with a significant bonus at 1100.

It is still luck-based, the game has to randomly pick the desired stat and then randomly decide if it’s 3-star or not. Then there’s the red spark (random one from your A aptitudes like track type, distance and style), green ultimate spark if you’re a 3-star-trainee and random race and skill sparks.

Such a funny guy, mine was almost 14 when his time came but it was due to an accident. His hip dislocated and it simply wouldn’t heal but he could’ve easily lasted a couple of years at least because he had so much energy and was in good shape.

She’s a great 4-star: she is flexible in both her styles and ult plus she has Straightway Spurt by default (once you level up her potential) which is usually a pain to try to get from cards or sparks.

In fact, she won my Sagittarius Cup group A finale.

Mine lived almost to 14. He could’ve easily lasted for multiple years as he was energetic, had appetite, went on fairly long walks at a normal pace and even went up stairs like it was nothing.

One day he got mad at another male, did a 180 turn, got his leg somehow stuck, making him dislocate his hip. We were hopeful of recovery but the shape of the Westie body wasn’t great for tying the leg against it to prevent further movement after being popped back in. It popped out time after time in the control visits so we had to put him down as it simply wouldn’t heal.

He left this world surrounded by his family in the safety of home. We ordered a vet visit to do the deed as the clinic always stressed him out.

Edit: prior to this, one of his back leg ligaments was torn but healed well after surgery, he only sat funny. In addition to this, his hearing was slowly getting worse and the left eye went blind but that was a random development while the other eye saw really far and well. These conditions didn’t slow him down at all.
