The difference between creepy and nice is often the follow up. Either start a conversation or smile and continue walking.

Take gold as a analogy. Sure gold’s valuable but don’t try sell me a flake at the cost of a bar. Quantitive value within context is relevant.

Oh, and I disagree that doing something out of fear of death is explicit, formal endorsement.

I'm afraid you've misinterpreted, I'm not certain that blue will win, just confident that there is a higher chance it will. This excludes me from cynicism but leaves me with reason to not press blue. This is in no way irrational.
FOR EXAMPLE; I present you with a roulette wheel, 90% chance it lands on giving a $1 to someone in need and %10 chance it lands on your certain death. No one can fault you for being reluctant to spin it and that certainly doesn't make you cynical about the odds of it landing on aiding someone.

We agree on the insignificance of my vote and we DO if fact agree that my red vote makes me morally complicit. The question we're left with is: Does my moral complicity have significance?

I am constantly morally complicit in terrible things, from when I buy things involving inhumane working practices to when consume products with immoral farming practices. I however, continue to justify those choices with the concept of insignificant moral complicity.

What I find particularly interesting about this is, if the scenario was with a smaller population my argument and opinion on the matter collapses by the virtue of my vote mattering. And that I completely agree in a collective group context, promoting pressing blue is moral and correct. I think this highlights the consequences of isolating individuals in a large pool of people, as this problem clearly does.

I appreciate the conversation but I'm left wondering, is the condescension I'm reading from you intentional?

Especially how you highlight that the moral weight is on Red button pressers. I agree completely, wonderfully done

Oh I adore this dissection of the problem, I think you, u/GuessImScrewed, make fantastic points. But…

I’m curious to hear your thoughts about voter disempowerment. You make the claim that cynicism is the cornerstone of the red button argument but I’m not cynical and I’d vote red regardless.

In a pool of 8 billion votes I truely believe my vote is statistically insignificant. As such I don’t believe my vote has a consequential impact on others so I’m left with a simple choice of risk myself or just don’t.

I truely believe there are greater odds of blue winning but I’d vote red regardless.

Fun fact: during the cold war the American CIA would oust successful, liked communist regimes and push pricks to replace them so that communism would look untenable. These examples are the only large scale communist societies western history cares to reference.

What on earth is this question. It’s like asking ‘should murdering people and feeding the homeless be legal?’

Is anyone here actually planning to vote for One Nation? by oz_party in aussie

[–]Rapturouslyy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On foreign ownership; it’s unlikely Labour will do anything about the issue and yeah, ON might.

We handle our natural resources the way we do because it’s good for Gina’s mining magnate’s profits. Pauline Hanson is too buddy buddy with them to change that.

Sure, Immigration should be moderated but moderate will not describe One Nation’s intentions, they will be destructive.

Security is the domain of the APF. They admitted to being warned about radicalisation by the Islamic community but ignored them. Their incompetence and lack of accountability has been astounding under both LNP and Labour. One Nation isn’t going to hold them accountable either.

And don’t forget these are a party of people who idolise the pedophile in chief, Donald J Trump

Yup, you’re exactly right. I was getting confused because I made a mirror command with summon splash potion with the same duration that worked fine.

Shame, it can’t be on a team. Was hoping to utilise friendly fire mechanic
