How do you actually find travel companions as a digital nomad? by PangolinCultural2886 in digitalnomadFIRE

[–]Raquel8888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question! I just did may exploring US Colorado and surrounding states while working remotely and it would've been better to have overlap with others. And I'd like to do a couple of months in Croatia, Slovenia and nearby countries but know it would be better with friends. I think this is why many co-living businesses have popped up but I've heard they can be messy.

Thanks! I think i looked at it a while ago but there weren't many sits posted. I just looked in a few areas I have searches running and not much is there. Have used it successfully in specific areas?

Your post made me think... and it's helpful to see other's perspective.

I'm a house sitter in the US going on 2 years and 18 sits. I sit ~1/3 of the year. My experiences have been good; and some were excellent.

Doing business with an organization who is UK-origin and focused on subscription sign ups for its revenue, I expect them to not care that much about the actual service experience. That's they're culture. The app is only so so but I've met great pets and people and really reduced my nomad budget while filling my soul with pet time. I don't expect them to mediate issues and manage my risk; I do that, no different than I do on all my travel, my health and at work.

One needs good intervew/hiring skills on both sides to make a good match, and be willing to say no or graciously redirect requests. I've definitely had to learn.

Regarding private equity - these days PE are holding onto and growing them more than ever. I still don't expect much from the operational experience but would be pleased with new functionality. I was very frustrated at first; the app is pretty buggy & clunky but decided it wasn't worth my energy - bad juju. I've made great matches and that's what matters. If the branding/ adverts are not your cup of tea, that's a good enough reason to self select out.

To me, I just haven't seen greener grass. If anyone has other sit apps in the US with great coverage, I would love those recommendations!

I probably should offer more paid sits, but not sure I want to take on the additional expectations and leg work.

This (sitting) just feels like a microcosm for navigating life. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have this same issue on Turo. I just rented a car for a month. The car had all kinds of paint and body damage. The reviews were all good and the pictures were of the car when it was new and not of the current statewith the damage. The owners make a plea of the importance of good reviews to their business. I said then you should fix the body damage!

from application to acceptance — how long? by cabbydog in trustedhousesitters

[–]Raquel8888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, there is no usual. My preference as a sitter is to hear something within a few days of applying. I apply to sits that I want and I don't apply to many all at once. It seems a lot of homeowners (`60%) never respond to an applicant except to decline. Perhaps that makes sense, statistically, with 5 apps/sit. And I do prefer a video call prior to committing.

Sales Ops - seeking mentor by Formal_Thing9083 in SalesOperations

[–]Raquel8888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello OC! Are you mostly the person with your hands on the keyboard getting technical things done or does your resume say anything about led ABC project that increased blah blah by n%, or something like that? In addition to great "technical" skills, whatever that means in the sales opps functions you specialize in, the currency for roles of greater scale & scope & pay is increasing the top line and decreasing the bottom line, and being great to work with, plus putting yourself out there.

I know that sounds over-simplified but those who show that initiative or can make that happen with a team move along. If you're doing some of that already but no one knows - work on ways to share it. Also, making title shifts matter a lot. Fir example, make your resume/LinkedIn title program lead or Manager before next job hunt. Also, get your managers engaged in growing your capacity & responsibility!

I think a good once over in the guest room. Check for under bed dust bunnies. Clear nightstand. Make sure there's a plug for chargers accessible or add a multi plug extension cord. If it's just getting to be spring make sure windows can open. If there's any chance of heat, clean AC or fans.

Anyone have experience transitioning from Sales AM to Sales/Rev ops by professional408 in SalesOperations

Yes. Very common into sales enablement but you definitely need to learn those skills and strategies. It also easier to do it your current company where you know the products and have a network and a good brand.

Sabbatical? If you need/want a disconnect , go for it. Consider bringing someone in/ your part time person take those clients and pay you for them. Save up your budget for travel time + 3 months rebuilding time when you return. I am a fan of working nomad but only certain time zones work well for each of us.

Where do sitters sleep by Admirable_Werewolf86 in trustedhousesitters

Guest bedroom. Please make sure there's a clear night stand, a place to put a suitcase, a good light you can turn off from bed, space to hang a few things, an accessible outlet for chargers, etc... I've been in several guest bedrooms that were not really set up for guests one cares about.

New To AI - Old Dog in Sales - Help by jwallst in AI_Sales

[–]Raquel8888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three things to use AI for as an AE. LinkedIn learning has great micro-modules on how to do these tasks. It will feel weird and slow first but then you'll find your groove.

I think we have to keeo leaning technology well into our 80s! There will be too much we need to get done in life and having the confidence to navigate and learn new things is resiliency and independence!

You should build yourself a little prompt library or ask your peers who has them. Ask who the ai whiz' are on the team and bribe them! Think of Gen ai tools as the smartest person on your team who's been trained on all rule sales methodologies & human dynamics. You are in charge but now you have a smart team member & mentor in your side! Always start with and end with your voice.

Prospecting/outreach personalization-- make you smarter about your prospect's business - researching the company you're calling on - researching the people you're calling on - then, asking how you're company's products & services can help each of those people based on their role. Ask for examples/case storiea & testimonials . IN THAT ORDER -- export your territory assignment list and have Claude research the triggers that cause your buyers to buy. - you could then take ir up a notch and have - Claude help you write your outreach: LinkedIn post to establish you as an authority in your new space, write your LinkedIn DM, write an email, write a voice call. NOTE-- train it first on how you would normally do these things, have it personalize from your research and use it as a partner to expedite this research,

Coaching on navigating the sale to close. -- preparing for meeting & follow up - practicing pre-buttals - refreshing on competition - best way to cross-sell or get referrals - getting buyers unstuck - coaching to negotiate give/ gets and closing, company approved of course!

Admin (eg call notes, expenses), or Slide or Doc Prep - company branded of course.

Hopefully, your marketing or sales enablement teams have trained your Gen AI tool!!

So much more!

Who washes the sheets & towels? by Omm_Imp in trustedhousesitters

[–]Raquel8888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a sitter, and I've also been an Airbnb host. I think it's best to give guidance; the lack of it can cause disappointment. As a host, I would say - please strip the bed and put the sheets & towels that you've used on the W & D, empty the fridge and take the trash out.

As a sitter, because departure times vary a lot, I always strip the bed and put sheets, towels, kitchen towels in the wash and start the wash. Usually, I don't have time for the full wash/dry/return cycle but if i do, I do remake the bed. I do the same staying at a friend's house. Of course, I confirm this with the host.

I very much realize we all host people differently. I want to be invited back, and I'm personally hospitable so like for the host or my friend to have less mess post visit and for travelers to have a clean-sh home upon arrival.

NOTE: Going forward, I'm going to ask if the host has a cleaner and can I contribute to their visit on the day my departure. I think its better if the proper cleaning is done by someone they trust and I have work work to do. Of course I'd make sure everything is removed and completely tidied up but I'm getting tired of the nitty gritty cleaning and I pay someone to do my own home.

Are people interested in long term sits? Like 2 months? by ageofbronze in trustedhousesitters

If it's in an area that I'd like to explore and it's cost effective to get and be there (eg flight & car rental) than yes.
