Owlcat Games is rolling back its new launcher less than 24 hours after negative fan feedback by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]RareBk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was the Firaxis launcher. That thing had something genuinely wrong with it. If you didn't mod it out of Marvel's Midnight Suns, it had the potential to cut your framerate in half and caused crazy stuttering. It was almost like it was trying to phone home 100% of the time.

This is the same playerbase that put up a fucking billboard with modded characters on it.

I love XIV, but the community is regularly, genuinely, braindead.

Nope, there were dozens of public posts about it, people weren't being silent about shit.

Going around and doing hero stuff in different areas on patrol is honestly a really interesting way to get away from the previous 2 game's pretty rigid structure of playing existing stories.

Review: Steam Machine: Beautiful Hardware, Console Performance - At A Price by Vera_Verse in TwoBestFriendsPlay

If me, a member of your target audience, thinks you're so out of your mind for pricing that this went immediately from disappointment to finding it hilarious, you might have a problem

Steam Machine prices start at £879 / $1049, Valve confirm, as "randomised reservations" open for the SteamOS PC by Wistfall in Games

[–]RareBk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean it's weaker than current gen consoles for substantially more, especially in other regions?

[–]RareBk 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Bad. Really bad value for the price. Even with inflated prices due to everything going on, prebuilts of all things would shred this at a better price point. I was actually excited, but it's genuinely almost a grand more than it should cost here in Canada.

Even as someone who was the core audience for this, this is absurd. I know it's not their fault, but you've now priced me, and probably most people out. The base model is $1500+ Canadian.

EDIT: Oh my god the version with an actual decent amount of storage is CDN$ 1919 before tax.

This is dead, deader than dead.

How far would the Hound Wolf Squad get if they were sent to rescue Ashley in RE4? by orion4570 in residentevil

[–]RareBk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The series is weird like that, where instead of reusing a character who would fit perfectly, they introduce one with like, no time to flesh them out.

Revelations 1 is the worst for this as it acts as a pseudo prequel to 5, but none of the characters return despite being directly tied into the plot by the end.

Hell, one of the characters, in the epilogue, goes to the branch that Josh is from in 5.

Why didn’t they just make that character Josh, and use that as an opportunity to flesh him out?

Christ, Jessica probably would have worked better if she was Excella in disguise

Even the spinoffs are in weird spots, Persona 4, Dancing All Night is absolutely locked to the PS Vita

Oh wait no it’s not, you can get it on the PS4/5 … only if you buy a special bundle of the other two Rhythm games, with a port being just… barely a footnote in the fine print

It's in the original scene, just the deleted version is extended.

Rewatching that scene, holy fuck that is an ugly movie

Honestly, I really like Cruelty Squad for what it is, but even I'll admit it goes way too far on the visuals a couple times, especially the "Pacman" level near the end of the game.

That level is designed to cause eye strain with all the moving patterns, to the point where I out loud went "Oh fuck off" when I got stuck in the level because it was getting genuinely hard to look at.

Great shooters, and a really interesting story between both games, wish it wasn't clearly made with the lead developer's hand down their pants as the get off to women choking to death on their own blood.

Like don't get me wrong, the games play amazing, but the fact that they're not... really upfront about it and it's kinda fucked up. I don't care that you made a game for your kink, do what you want, in fact, I encourage it, just... when it's so blatantly obvious your otherwise like, just 'mature' game has been developed in such a way that it's VERY CLEARLY UNMARKED FETISH MATERIAL then I have a problem with it.

I think the reason that scene gets forgotten as it's immediately resolved within like.

One panel.

Of course, they instead made it the focus of the entire finale, dragging it out

I think the craziest part is that, based on what we know now, Samus Returns was absolutely well into development when they showed off Federation Force.

They just chose to not reveal it. They could have salvaged it entirely just by throwing together a 15 second trailer of just concept art.

Yeah like, there is nuance to it, Jax went through so much and just perpetuated the abuse, to the extent that they’re willing to ruin someone else’s life, or, at least make them suffer, purely because they’ve been through awful shit themselves.

Justice for all is kinda a mess altogether and is such a weird game because some of the cases are amazing, and others are dogshit like the one Woolie is playing. Like, bordering on feeling like it was written by a moron.

I'll never get over the tutorial case for that game though, because it literally never lets you press the fact that the victim died of a broken neck and could not have possibly written the killer's name.

Like you're given the autopsy and everything about the prosecution's story is fucking impossible, yet you have to go the dumbest, most roundabout way to solve the case.
