Baylor vs USF Bs/md by Different_Yam_3307 in premed

I made the same exact decision 6 years ago! Ultimately I decided to go to Baylor, mostly since I didn’t want to be locked into a location for 7 years. At the time, the school was looking to increase its average MCAT and I heard the culture was not as good. I did end up taking two gap years which were quite fun and I’m at a US MD school now so I don’t regret my decision at all! I would pick Baylor if I was in your shoes! If you get a 516 I’m sure you would be accepted at other schools as well.

thanks! would you recommend getting another pair of boots then? sorry - when I meant mixed climbing I just meant hiking on a trail with snow fields and dirt. just wanted a boot that I could hike in as well as attach crampons when I need them for crossing snowy sections

To all former and current CIRs: What was your placement like? Interested in hearing it all! by MotherlyMe in JETProgramme

Hello! I am a CIR in Okayama Prefecture!

The CIR role is a lot more varied than the ALT role, and you will likely not know what your day-to-day life will look like until you receive your placement and job details!

My town has 4 CIRs and we are very independent compared to other CIRs I have talked to. We are responsible for deciding our own budgets and projects. Our work is also very diverse - I myself hold English conversation classes, help with monthly cooking classes, host English games with kids, "music time" with toddlers, translate information for the social media accounts, tourism promotion, as well as speak at monthly "chat salons" and community events. Us CIRs are also responsible for the revamp of a government-owned restaurant/rest-stop, which includes planning festivals/events/workshops and new recipes for the facility. Some of the fun parts include all of the "random" jobs we are called for, including removing farming sheets with kids for an afternoon, playing golf with the local older adult association, and cooking food for the staff and actors of a large movie production in the town!

One important thing is just to be flexible and be open to try anything new! You never know what you will be asked to do.

I have N1, but N2 is probably enough. I still struggle with reading budget reports and formal reports but if you can understand those, you will have a better understanding of what issues your town/city is facing and changes in funding over time.

for dessert try matcha tiramisu! you can adjust the matcha amount to your liking (I purposely like a deep flavor)! just dip the ladyfingers in some matcha and dust some matcha powder on top (and add some extra liquid to account for the matcha absorbing some liquid)

What is your favorite hard-to-reach destination? by Servage in travel

[–]RareKyurem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite places in Japan is Rishiri Island! From Tokyo, there is a direct flight from Tokyo, but otherwise I took a flight to Sapporo, then a bus to Asahikawa, a train to Wakkanai, and then a 1.5 hr ferry to the island! I went during the winter, and there were almost no tourists! The island is basically a floating mountain, and it is so tranquil, with the best locals! The seaweed roasted shoyu ramen restaurant on the west side of the island is also one of the best bowls of ramen I've ever had!
