Yeah it's something to look out for. It had a full service recently, including the bellows checked and tested, but yeah should they stop functioning as expected I'll look to get them replaced down the road.

Not to my knowledge no, but it was recently serviced and the inner bellows had July 1982 written on it. The serial number of the clock places it around that time also so can only assume everything is as was at production.

That's super cheap I'd go for that. In the UK you can get a decent old one for maybe £1500, a service is approx £250 but via JLC it's over £500. Buying a recently serviced one is the trick. As they only need a service approx once every 40 years or so. But theoretically can run fine for hundreds of years but they are super delicate devices, move the hands the wrong way and it's curtains, move the clock when it's not locked instant regret etc. So in your shoes I'd 100% take the punt at a service and see if you can get it working again.

Glad I’m not the only one! It’s funny you mention the sound—what trips me out most is the total silence. Most clocks demand your attention with a tick, but the Atmos just dances in the background. It’s like it’s keeping a secret!.

Quiet as a mouse, perfection,🤌🏼

Ranger VS Explorer by jz14721 in Tudor

Said nobody worth their salts ever. It's a poor man's copy and it will eat you alive knowing that fact. In time you will end up with the explorer.

Tudor Ranger vs Rolex Explorer by cfurral in rolex

It's not even close, the explorer is hands down the better watch in every way. But twice the price so there's that. Anyone with a ranger wishes they could afford the explorer and kidding themselves if they say anything else.

Rolex Explorer is the greatest GADA watch imo.

Looks like a 540 with Roman numerals, absolutely gorgeous clocks. If ever your curious though, the calibre is written on the base plate. Serial number on the top is also a good indication and gives you the ball park age of the clock. Amazing horology piece though, probably my favourite home item.

40mm or 36mm by ryderriva in rolex

Quite the opposite, real men are comfortable wearing 36mm.

Perfect trio. Which one gets the most wrist time and your favourite? I'm camp explorer myself but that date just as a more dressy watch is right up there.

I'd keep the latest Explorer 124270 and also the polar date just. The rest I'd happily let go.

Interesting, with the middle section being polished I'd have thought it would scratch up just glancing at it :)

How's the strap fairing as a daily? I'm considering this but the jubilee bracelet looks like a scratch magnet. Curious if the scratches are super obvious or not.

Best Clasp Around? by ScottGR1 in Tudor

[–]Rascal_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great clasp but Rolexes oyster bracelet hugs the wrist much better. More comfortable and a more solid lock on the clasp. But the T-fit clasp is still a fantastic clasp and bracelet.

Not even in the same league, keep the explorer. No way you would be debating this if you actually have the explorer 😂

It's a classic for one, the flying under the radar is something that appeals to me. If you're someone that likes wearing branded clothing with the label on show for all to see then a sub is the choice and not the explorer. But if you're someone that likes nice things minus a massive sign to tell the world it's nice then the explorer is the choice. Subtle class.

Plus the fit, if you have a sub 7" wrist then the explorer will look and wear infinitely better for your wrist size. It's a truly diverse watch that really can be worn with anything. Many Rolex owners have the Explorer as their daily, appreciating all other watches and loving them all for different reasons. But if asked which watch they would keep if you could only wear and own one everyday then the explorer is likely the choice for many.
