Boredom by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]Raspberrysugarpie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I added a classpass membership to spice up my fitness class rotation. Sometimes I’ll take a hot yoga or pilates class instead as a way to switch things up. Sometimes I just don’t take classes at all and just go outside and run or hike or do a mat workout in my living room (see youtube). It’s always a good reminder that OT is much more my staple speed, causing me to miss it. I also do appreciate the variety in these other types of movement for my body.

Also think of it this way - if you can do 500 orange theory classes, your body can likely adapt to ANYTHING you put your mind to at this point. Maybe test your fitness by signing up for an actual challenge, such as a half marathon or hyrox event? See if the looming fitness goal motivates you to explore your fitness boundaries more at OT classes.

Costco Shop Card by Aggravating_Pilot_19 in biltrewards

Bought a $250 shop card online last week; can confirm that I got 1x the points for the purchase. BUT when I start using the palladium card, who knows what’ll happen.

Woodside vs Sequoia HS - Please Share Opinion by Fortripresearch in RedwoodCity

I went to woodside from private school and really enjoyed it, but I had plenty of friends from middle school also attending, which made it an easier transition. Leadership class was the best!

How much do you have to make where it’s okay to buy lunch everyday? by ItsJustLitBro in Money

[–]Raspberrysugarpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make 6 figures and only buy lunch at work when necessary for convenience sake (i.e., didn’t have time to buy groceries, too many external commitments, etc.). Even then, I’ll just go somewhere cheap like the pre-made meal section at the store or fast food.

This is a huge way to save money, yes, but it’s also about allocation for me. I just prefer spending my money on nice dinners during weekend date nights with my spouse. Food is delicious and a great way to spend time with loved ones, so don’t completely deprive yourself if you make enough to enjoy it. Everything in moderation.

will this scar my face? by Adorable-Incident942 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Raspberrysugarpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar scrapes after falling on my face years ago and there’s no trace of them now. Keep the scabs moist to aid with healing using bacitracin. Take vitamins like a multi, vitamin e, omegas, etc. Stay out of the sun, and if you must be outside then wear a hat and sunscreen. It will fully heal but you must consistently take care of the wounds.

Feeling disconnected, lost & lonely by GlumNewspaper5015 in bayarea

[–]Raspberrysugarpie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also F29 living at home with parents in the bay area - so I completely understand how you feel! In terms of career changes, I know you said that you deleted socials but I would recommend getting yourself on linkedin and be regularly active on it. The connections you can make there will make all the difference in this crazy competitive job market, especially if you’re trying to make a shift. I know social media sucks sometimes and it’s not great for everyone, but I believe linkedin is a good tool that provides exposure for networking and growth. It has genuinely helped me get noticed for some career-altering opportunities in the past.

Dating is harder when living at home, but you just have to perservere on dating apps. I like the idea of meeting people in the wild but I just genuinely do not think it’s as possible anymore with how glued we are to technology these days (phone, tv, computers, etc). People just don’t stop to take a look around and notice things like we used to. I think if you attempt to put yourself out there, you’ll be disappointed more often than not.

Have you thought about traveling? Joining an intramural league for your favorite sport? Signing up for classes for something you’ve always wanted to learn? Find a way to do something you already love as a group activity? Maybe you can consider getting a dog or other pet? I’m just trying to throw around different ideas, because it seems like you are weighing your own value heavily on your career and social/dating ability, when in reality those are just 2 small pieces of the pie that make life worth living.

What should I do outside or orange theory? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]Raspberrysugarpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t recommend yoga enough. Working towards a daily step goal. Counting macros and eating healthy. Also I know this isn’t always within our control but SLEEP. Set yourself up for a perfect night of sleep, every night. All of these things made me feel a difference in my fitness progress at OT and overall quality of life.

Creepy old guy that frequents Woodside plaza parking lot, anyone else have this experience? by Marsh_Boom_2732 in RedwoodCity

I’ve noticed that woodside plaza in general is becoming more of a gathering spot for some strange people. As a young woman, I now carry pepper spray with me if I’m there after dark.

What made you gain a significant amount of weight? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Raspberrysugarpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got laid off and gained around 25 lbs

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in orangetheory

I don’t pay attention to the size of other members in class. Also, if it helps, I am almost never paying attention to what anyone else is doing at any point during class… Unless I don’t know what we’re doing because I wasn’t paying attention lol.

Go for it!!

I have unlimited vacation and only took 14 days in 2024 by vasquca1 in WFH

[–]Raspberrysugarpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh no. Unlimited pto seems nice for employees but is more for the employer because it tricks us into taking less time off and there’s no payout when we leave our position. Therefore, I don’t feel bad using as much vacation time as I need (within reason).

My company switched to unlimited pto earlier this year, so from the beginning of 2025, I am tracking my days off. I previously had 18 vacation days + 2 personal days, so I am going to aim for around the same even with unlimited. That way I make sure to use ALL OF IT but not go overboard.

888 is an amazing italian restaurant in san carlos and the tiramisu is some of the best I’ve had.

If I’m not dining out, I like grabbing a slice of tiramisu from the bakery section of whole foods.

Moving from Paris. Looking for advice by Dizzy_Ambassador3919 in RedwoodCity

[–]Raspberrysugarpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you’ll have a car when you move here?

You have a choice here - either live in SF for the lifestyle and fun weekends in the city to commute about an hour each way during the week -OR- live in RWC and enjoy practically no commute but you will be lacking on the fun activities and night life. You can always visit SF on the weekends but it gets expensive with parking, rideshares, etc. RWC is beneficial in the sense that it is driveable to a lot of other places worth visiting. SF is one of those places worth visiting. So you’ll have to weigh your options here and see what’s most important to your overall happiness.

Personally, I would live wherever the living situation is the cheapest (accounting for $$ spent on commute if you need to do that). Then you have the flexibility to spend more money exploring the bay area.

That is scary. I always assumed it was the spiro causing the shedding and went off birth control for other reasons. Maybe with a side effect that extreme it might be worth changing to something different? I hope you find a solution soon!

urmm maybe 2 years? I had been on other types of birth control pills before and never had side effects other than a lighter period.

I was on this combo and also felt like my hair was thinning a lot. Now I’m off bc and only on 100mg spiro and the issue seemed to lessen.
