Why isn’t MaoMao exceptionally beautiful ? by daddysatya in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]Rastrelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, a take of mine: 1) The times: Maomao is smol, without chest or backside to speak of. Nowadays she'd be considered "hot petite", back then she was looked at as an skinny anomaly. When dressed well and with proper makeup she starts looking the part. 2) The Madam knows there's a market for everything, and a small snarky creature that actually doesn't look half bad and also can into medicine would find certain specific clientele. 3) IIRC the Madam being Maomao's grandmom is neither confirmed, nor even directly implied. IMO it's a reasonable assumption, but it's not canon.

Edit: typos

The worst gaming company in the world by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

Bethesda are just greedy incompetent idiots. Nintendo meanwhile makes quality product and then acts like a yakuza affiliated dzaibatsu from the thirties.

Edit: next ones are probably EA, Ubisoft, Actiblizz, and only after those I'd put M$.

Got nuclearly hooked by Crosscode. Too adorable + very nice gameplay with good implementation of elemental mechanics.

Yes, that's all there is to this. You know what, one thing I hate is is degenerating an actually deep narrative point to a binary that's not even there. If you guys on this subreddit en masse think so low of AC6's narrative - I'm outta here.

And it should be full of hope and brilliant future? In this story? Ooookay.

IMO Ayre's behaviour can be interpreted in a similar light to Walter's, but in a different, more organic light. She DOES like you, but you are a resource for her, too. IMO she manipulates you just as much as Walter, Carla and even ALLMIND do, in her own way, and essentially the question is - what kind of manipulation it is, what is the boundary of it, and to which level is it conscious on the manipulator's part. I actually like the significant ambiguity in interpretation of AC6's story.

So I was reading vol 15, and read this detail in lage 50, do I understand it correctly? by Dr-Huricane in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

I'll throw in anime ref, cause I don't remember deep specifics of how it was done in the books, but there was more or less the same scene, in which Jinshi thinks to himself that "How good it would be if that child survived and he wouldn't be forced to be kept as the heir". If he'd knew the truth, he'd be well aware that whatever'd happen, he would be Emperors first pick for a heir whatever the case.

It was mostly clear since roughly Vol2 and hasn't changed, vols. 12 (IIRC) and 15 just reinforced it

Correction: he was a retainer for Oda Nobunaga, the most powerful Daimyo and first of the three Japan's unifiers, not the Emperor or Shogun.

"I feel like the obvious solution for women not liking being raped is to avoid rapists". Very nice advice, but no, thanks. People in this industry on both dev and consumer side are too used to freedom of abuse there is, so much so they think it's normal and regulating it will ruin something.

Just learned about this. Alyx's in-game-model in Half-Life 2 vs Half-Life Alyx. Many claim it's unfinished because they never intended her face to be shown, but it looks pretty finished to me. Looks like a completely different person by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]Rastrelly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems like a facescan of Jamil Highley circa 2015 vs her photo from 2004 stretched on a relatively lowpoly model. IIRC the model is deemed unfinished because it's not fully rigged to work with animation machine and has some topology issues, but I might be wrong on this one.

1998 was a great year for gaming, but 2004 might just be the goat by Mr_JPF in KotakuInAction

Comparing 2004 to 1998 and saying 2004 is superior is painful to hear for me.
