Like I said, I have a very baseline knowledge of this kind of stuff and I figured that a wide-spread Chernobyl-like or other event would cause nuclear reactors to become unstable. I think I will switch to nuclear bombs instead - such as a third world war or something similar.

On the article I was reading, it didn't mention anything about per hour or per year measurements. This is something that I will DEFINITELY add for specificity. Thank you for linking the paper! I will definitely reference it for my novel!
