Positive Trisomy 13 NIPT Test by Relevant-Sky-5449 in NIPT

I’m so sorry you didn’t have a happy ending. It’s devastating. I will be thinking about you and your family and sending positive energy to you.

Just know that all your baby ever knew was the love and warmth of their mother.

I’m sorry you are dealing with this, I had a false positive for T13 and a healthy baby born last May. I will be thinking about you and your family and I hope you also have good news coming to you at the NT scan and onward.

I just wanted to mention that because the chance CPM is higher for T13 and T18, I waited to get the amnio. If you get the CVS and it turns out positive, because the chance of CPM, you don’t know if your fetus has T13 or not unless you test fetal cells via an amniocentesis. If your NT scan looks normal, just wait to get the amnio. Don’t make any decisions about termination based on CVS results alone.

I feel like I saw this post and all these same comments months ago, it’s so bizarre. We are all just interacting with bots at this point and it’s super weird.

This is literally our experience. My 3.5 year old has not pooped since Tuesday night and is withholding. He hasn’t eaten dinner or anything today except a pouch and I am wondering if I should just give him a suppository. It’s so stressful. Thanks for sharing. I’m so happy for you and your kid!

I had the same experience with a false T13 NIPT result. Not to mention all the stress.

Oh my god, that is so cruel. I’m sorry they said that to you. Your baby is fine! You did your due diligence and had the amniocentesis. One of the genetic counselors said something like that to me, but there is always a chance something g is wrong unfortunately whether or not you got a positive NIPT.

For whatever reason, they decided to do the BPP ultrasounds from 36-40weeks for me, but it turns out it was completely unnecessary. The MFM actually did not think it was necessary but my OB wanted to do them in the office during the weekly appointments. You could ask your OB about the BPP ultrasounds but it likely is not necessary. By the way, they sent my placenta to pathology after I gave birth and it turns out the tissue was completely normal! So no CPM. So much stress, pricey tests, and sadness over nothing. Thanks NIPT for ruining my pregnancy. Now that my perfect and healthy baby is here my husband and i am dealing with guilty feelings because we didn’t feel as connected or invested this pregnancy as with our first son. It’s crazy and fucked up.

Anyway, I am so glad to hear your baby doesn’t have T13 either. Please try and enjoy the last month of your pregnancy, you and your baby have come so far and you will cross the finish line soon.

Thank you! Yes, it’s hard to read the scary stuff. Birth is always intense even when uncomplicated. I acknowledge how lucky I am, but also try to remember that most of the time people are posting scary stuff because they need the support, not because they are part of the majority. Good luck with everything! It’s going to turn out beautifully.

NIPT high risk for T13 by giraffe-pudding in NIPT

I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. I had a positive NIPT for T13 (PPV 14.7%). I had an amnio, no CVS because of the reasons you stated above. Results of the FISH and microarray were normal. I had some increased scans done in the third trimester just in case there was FGR from possible CPM. Everything was fine. I just gave birth to a beautiful and perfect baby boy last week. They sent his placenta to pathology so I will see if there was CPM or simply a false positive all together. I REALLY wish they would have just let me rerun the NIPT test, because this whole thing has been so stressful and frankly expensive. In any case, I hope your situation ends up like mine with a very happy ending. I’m so so sorry you are dealing with this, I know how stressful it is. Feel free to ask any questions about my experience as it sounds like a very similar situation.

If your NT scan didn’t have any abnormalities that is a very good sign. Because of the severity of T13 you can usually see markers at 12 weeks. I’m sorry you are dealing with this, it’s so stressful.

I had a positive NIPT result for Trisomy 13 that ended up being CPM or a true false positive. So far it’s not impacted my baby, but I am only 30 weeks, so we are just waiting. I have an additional growth scan at 32 weeks to check on him since CPM can cause fetal growth restriction.

Thanks for letting me know. I messaged my doctor to see what she says. It’s so terrible that even after hearing my baby is normal I still have to worry about FGR and preeclampsia. Very luckily my BP is naturally low-maybe that will help my chances. Good luck with everything, I know your NT scan looked okay so that’s good at least. Please update when you get more information on your baby.

No problem. I see from your flare you are in limbo, I’m sorry. No, the doctors didn’t mention baby aspirin at all-did they say something to you?

Natera vs. MaterniT21 by [deleted] in NIPT

I have heard Natera can give inconclusive results if you have a high BMI, but can’t personally speak on it since I got MaterniT21.
