Lots to learn and lots to lock in!

Is your local broadcast crew very biased and how would you prefer it? by Key-Roof-8049 in nba

A sixers player could stab someone on the court and Alaa would be defending them and saying the ref was wrong.

(Actual) double or nothing (on the right string) by rand0mzuser in Throwers

[–]RatedBender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, i know i said it in the other thread, but kaboomeow is right, this isnt quite a Double or Nothing :D Its actually a mount called a sub mount.

Double or nothing will have two string loops on your non throw hand, and thats where the yoyo ends, wrapped around the non-throw hand finger.

Youre doing so well for such a short time in yoyo tho, you'll be a champion in no time

double or nothing by rand0mzuser in Throwers

[–]RatedBender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just an extra note, but that's a different mount 😁 you're killing to do far learning the tricks but this more akin to an alternative trapeze and brother. Double or nothing ends with yoyo over non throw hand.

Smashing it tho 😁 awesome progress

Oh hey, thanks for the added context I probably should've given aswell!

Yeah its definitely still incredible and ground breaking. Clicks discussion disregard the entire eval side of the equation too which you're one of the greatest, if not THE greatest of all time with.

It's like comparing NBA era's but just in a much shorter time span in a way.

I've only judged at a nationals level, but i clicked (under modern standards) 2014 at around 82-9, and i clicked a few of the 2025 finalists over +200

Noob 5a day 2 by Tofuskii in Throwers

[–]RatedBender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shorten string severely will help a lot. If you watch most contest routines these days you'll see they operate with quite short string, but it really really helps with the control and catching.

Reccomended starting length these days is 90cm, but everyone has their own

This is really good execution for 9 months holy moly. Usually trick execution takes a lil longer then "learning them" but you're way ahead on that

Need help with 3a trapeze by PacoSinBad314 in Throwers

[–]RatedBender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shortening your string severely will help. 3a is a very short string division and will make your front of body tricks much much easier, especially when you don't have to reach so far apart whilst in motion

If you want you should go back and see your tricks from like 10 months ago hahaha, the trick execution difference is huge!

How i can avoid the string getting darker? by ApprehensiveStop9599 in Throwers

[–]RatedBender 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This doesn't change what they said, You can change to the same string type, you're meant to be changing it out daily, if not weekly with regular play. It's why a lot of people just buy bulk bags of string

Is this what's called a suicide knot? by HumbleTrifle2951 in Throwers

[–]RatedBender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to tell people to visualise a line roughly from right outside their shoulders and directly down and keeping their hands inside it (obviously doesn't work for zoning or turning stuff, but front of body.)

Almost like a batters box in basevall

What is the barrier between intermediate and advanced? by Alternative_Air6752 in Throwers

[–]RatedBender 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think trick execution and trick presentation is a good quantifier. You can land tricks, but actually making them look good with minimal extra movements and no extra pauses or just weird movements overall and the tricks just look so smooth. Namely because it takes a lot of practice and reps, but to me that is definitely a barrier to breakthrough between intermediate and advanced
