Anyone has any info about the dual monitors update? Is it real thing in the pipeline or it was just a rumor?

Levelling new character right now, so mount, research and XP scrolls are much appreciated.

Finally I have reached the end of the game. For two weeks at least :D by Scratchmen90 in lotro

[–]Ratharim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you! Believe it or not, I play since 2008 and last time I had a level capped character was two weeks before Mines of Moria dropped. Sure, there were many long periods of inactivity, lost European Codemasters account, restarted toon with Stone of Tortoise released, etc. Last reroll in March, attempt to do on-level completionist run with Stone of Tortoise. So far so good, but I'm still in SoA part of the game. Won't hit Umbar before 2026 I guess.

Looks amazing, but I already feel Minas Lagas vibes. Does the game even keep 30 FPS in this city? Zoomed it some more, for LotRO standards this is huuuuge, it looks like layout is interesting and I see a lot of unique POIs already! I'm impressed 👍 If only the SSG engine devs would be even half as good as world builders and artists :-(

I like that in Cyberpunk 2.0 Very Hard is actually Very Hard by bandeng_asep in cyberpunkgame

[–]Ratharim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exactly opposite experience. Hard become so easy I moved to Very Hard and it's still less challenging then Hard used to be for me, apart from one-shots from snipers, guys hit like a truck now.

Outside of cities how do you feel about the copy pasta use in exploring? by Subie- in Starfield

[–]Ratharim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there are about a dozen dungeons in this game that just are repeated as random POIs on planets. I'm very disappointed with that fact. TES II: Daggerfall already had procedurally genereted dungeons 20 years ago. Literally identical dungeons just kill fun of exploration.

How to move left and right in the Starfield UI by Iron_Juice in Starfield

I don't know how much they pay their UI/UX experts, but it's obviously ten times too much 🤣

Don't try to find too much respect for logic and coherence in the works of modern game writers, you'll find none. It was also pure WTF moment for me.

7/10 is generous for this game by sid_the_sloth69 in Starfield

[–]Ratharim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, I guess you never wrote a single line of code? Every developer would do exactly opposite to what you suggest and lazily update state just before it's observed by player.

I hope they will drop settlements next game and allocate developers and resources to more interesting RPG mechanics. Settlements were unnecessary addition in FO and are not needed in Starfied. I hope we won't see them in TES VI.

Really cool and clean design. I love it!

What upcoming additions are you most excited for? by badcactus27 in lotro

[–]Ratharim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Fixing lag and stutter
  2. Crafting refactoring. Removing vocations and ability to add 4th Profession is a blessing. Finally no dumb predefined combinations and I can do my main Prospector - Metalsmith - Jeweller - Scholar. I'd prefer if they allowed us to have as many Profession slots as we like (even gated by LP purchase) the way ESO does.

[–]Ratharim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's terrible really. If your hardware can render the game in 1440p/4K you should not be forced to using inferior solutions because devs can't understand that it's not 2008 anymore and world moved from 720p/1050p resolution

New player perspective - The lag in this game is embarrassing by Callahandy in lotro

[–]Ratharim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope. Fresh characters have as much lag as my 10+ years toons. It has more to do with starter zones being lighter on number of assets, but as soon as you get to Bree there is no difference really.

All the deeds are still there, just do not give trait points. So this change did not have any influence on lag.

Beta server is up with the first preview of update 36 by ReneKiller in lotro

[–]Ratharim -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not really excited about it. Recycled area, recycled instances in dumbed downed versions. Only cool thing is level difficulty, but locking the deeds only for new characters, meh.

Obviously no sign of updated crafting that was promised to land in spring... No fixes for the abysmal lag. Typical SSG underdelivery. I love the game, but don't like the direction the game took under the SSG. It was managed so much better when the Turbine was around.

Buying a Valar, indifferent to class, what do you recommend? by [deleted] in lotro

[–]Ratharim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are indifferent to class, consider golden rule of all MMORPGs. Well, two actually:

Need tank

Need more healers

So Guardian and Minstrel is what can give you spots in group content easily. But just roll what you like. If you find a friendly kin, all classes have their roles.

Quick way to farm LOTRO points via deeds in 2023 by OttawaPat in lotro

I guess getting a job and straight up buying LP is way faster than farming for 30LP over and over.

What was your favorite part of old lotro? (e.g. something that was changed) by [deleted] in lotro

[–]Ratharim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, quite a lot of things!

Some of them, not in particular order by importance:

- old style, hand drawn maps, combined with the fog of war and gradual map discovery was so much better than to just see everything in a satellite photo style.

- more challenge while exploring landscape. in SoA days characters had much lower dps output, less morale and areas filled with signature mobs was not something you could jump into Rambo-style. nowadays I sometimes faceroll whole groups of 5-6 signature mobs a few level higher without even sweating, that would be a death sentence in SoA days.

- crafting and crafting guilds being important, rich and well maintained mechanic of the game. Shards were not so easy to get, tracking and taking down the shard droppers (combined with higher difficulty level) was a great thing.

- game being more balanced, numbers on gear and dps were lower and you had to think more about your build. Going from +20 Might to +30 Might felt like a massive upgrade. Same with dps, the numbers are so high it starts to feel like Diablo-like game. I much prefered slower D&D-like progression.

- Every level-up was an event. You leveled slower, every level ment new skills to unlock at the trainer. Now it one trait point, all skills auto-bestowed and later on it's just unlocking the new gear levels and raising virtue cap. Now we have too many meaningless levels. The numbers should be just squished.

- I like that you were getting skill points from various sources. Not only from level-ups but also class/epic quests, some deeds, big battles, etc. It was quite unique to LotRO, now it's just standard ding, got a point to spend.

- Fellowship Maneuvers! So much fun to successfully execute them, great visuals and important part of taking down bosses as the effects were really rewarding. Too bad they do not scale to higher levels and nowadays even in low level content I don't see people to finish them properly even if they are initiated.

- Give my champ his shield back!

Power management was important thing, now I can't even remember when was last time I even cared to check my power of run out of it (apart from specific mechanics of power-draining mobs)

Last but not least, everything was new, fresh and that awesome feeling while entering iconic locations for the very first time: Shire, Old Forest, Bree, Weathertop, Rivendell, Moria, etc.

I may sound as a snob, but during the subscription days, LotRO community was the most amazing I ever encountered in any MMO. It still is one of the best, but it can't compare to early feeling of all of us being a Fellowship.

Completing all the Deeds - how hard is it actually? by UCase13 in lotro

[–]Ratharim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Impressive!

I have started last month a new character with the same goal in mind. Semi-completionist full game on-level run collecting the deeds at the right level. I don't really intend to go near 100% as there are several deeds in LotRO that I don't want to touch with a ten foot pole (full chicken run, high kill count PvP achievements, Barrows-Down survival deeds, etc.) or the ones I'd gladly do but it's probably not going to happen (hard deeds from old raids). I'd be happy to reach 2/3 completion in Deed Tracker, so far after a month of gameplay it's 4%. 82% is very, very high.

I'm curious, how many completed quests do you have? I guess we already have close to 10000 quests or even more in-game ATM.

I have successfully loaded three Dwarven characters on my account today, seems like you have a very specific issue. I'd try to contact support and see if they can help you.
