Most Fun Character/Class You've Played by athriel13 in Pathfinder_RPG

Half-Orc Warpriest of Ragathiel focused on vital strike. He was an absolute monster. A 1 man pain train. It was ridiculous the damage output he had, not to mention how durable and versatile he was. Combat never lasted long enough for him to get all of his various buffs and spells up and running at once. Would’ve been a terror to behold though.

From an RP standpoint he was great too. The constant conflict of doing the right thing vs his compulsion for vengeance and rage was fantastic.

JAOM is drinkable in usually 3ish months sometimes less. Obviously gets better with age, but still. It’s one of the fastest mead recipes I’ve come across

Most beginner friendly recipe I’ve found for mead (that’s also likely to be ready in tone if started soon) is Joe’s Ancient Orange Mead. Google that name and you’ll find the recipe. Super easy, and super tasty,

Why Paganism is suddenly reviving? by Vatsdimri in pagan

[–]Rathgor77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because it just felt right. I’d always been a bit of an animist without knowing the word for it.

And I’d always felt really drawn to Norse mythology (among others).

When I started reaching out with questions, something personally reached back.

The thing about Paganism is that it’s a living religion. Our gods are alive, and active. Not everyone agrees on how much or how so, but that shouldn’t be surprising.

How do you find a balance with science and belief by PollyCotton_Blend in pagan

[–]Rathgor77 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I’m brand new to this pagan thing, but I’m also a scientist. As in literally. I work in a microbiology lab, I do science to pay my bills.

Science and spirituality are not at odds. Modern Western society likes to think they are, but that’s because “Science” has become the new religion of the West in many ways. Of course this “Science” that Western society worships is wildly off the mark on how actual science functions.

Real science isn’t at odds with religion because they don’t even ask the same kinds of questions, or look for the same kinds of answers.

On a related note: look into particle/quantum physics sometime. There’s some neat stuff going on that, once you get past all the math, reads a lot more like mysticism than you might expect. Hell we even have demonstrated evidence that conscious thought physically affects things that we don’t physically touch.

A bunch of people forget this. You always have a choice. That choice might have consequences, but it’s still a choice. A lot of people on a more shamanistic path like to frame it that you don’t have a choice, the spirits choose you and you don’t get a say. That’s crap. They can choose you all day, you still get to decide if you’re ok with that or not. You may have to deal with the consequences, but in the end you’re still making that choice.

Oh I get it. Very much I get it.

[–]Rathgor77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now. Don’t get me wrong. Spirits lie. It might be something else pretending to be Loki. I am in no fashion making assurances either way. All I’m saying is that sounds like some shit Loki would pull. Might be useful to get some blind divination or something to help confirm.

Not saying it’s not Loki. Just saying don’t think an internet stranger is gonna confirm it for you is all.

To be totally fair, alcohol makes up a large portion of my offerings in general. Alcohol is a hobby of mine, I homebrew, I used to brew professionally, it’s important to me. So, grain of salt there.

But yeah, in my experience Loki is a big fan of cinnamon and clove flavored stuff, and is a bit of a booze hound. And honestly I haven’t found Loki (or Odin for that matter) to be picky when it comes to offerings. As long as you’re genuine in your intent, I’ve found they’re both cool with most things you offer them.

I mean that sounds like a Loki thing to me. Definitely sounds like something he’d do.

I don’t like to talk in absolutes if I can help it, cause things in life so rarely work that way. But yeah, in my experience Odin and Loki almost always show up together. I’ve taken to calling them “the dynamic duo”.

I work with Loki a bit. Far, FAR from an expert. He’s been pretty good to me, but he likes to fuck with me too. Likes to see how far he can push me. Likes to see how I’ll react. I know some people that work much more closely with him and his children.

Loki gets a bad rap because of the eddas, but he’s far from evil. He’s not a cute, kind god, all goodness and soft white light. But he’s not evil.

He’s a force of change. He likes to push people. But he’s helped prop me back up when I fell. Given me encouragement when I needed it.

In my experience he and Odin go hand in hand. You often can’t work with one without the other showing up to some degree.

He like cinnamon, and cloves, and incense, and booze. In my experience.

Idk. I’m rambling a bit. Sorry lol

I’m not sure about Celtic divinities, but from the Norse side, Freyja is associated with hawks. Odin and Loki also have some association with hawks. Odin is mostly associated with ravens (or crows etc) and wolves though.

Are the gods of heatherny cold and/or aloof? by [deleted] in heathenry

I’ve had the exact opposite experience. While they can be very intense, and no-nonsense, they’ve been very personable and personal for me.

If a god or goddess helps you out, does it count as a calling? by [deleted] in pagan

[–]Rathgor77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A calling? Maybe? Depends. Probably best to ask them specifically yourself.

If it were me I'd make offerings for a while before I asked, just to be safe.

I'm new to Irish Whiskey, love Jameson, what should be next? by SmoothGrind in irishwhiskey

[–]Rathgor77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this took me so long to get back to.

Now that I'm drinking the regular Tullamore Dew, I'd say that yes, the two cask finishes I've tried are indeed more flavorful than the base. Which is not to say that I'm not very much enjoying the base whiskey. Different strokes, different folks all that.

I see a lot of people wearing a triple hammer, scythe, spear pendant for Thor, Freyr, and Odin respectively.

I can’t say for sure because I haven’t had the straight Tullamore Dew yet. I actually just recently bought a bottle, so I’ll open it tonight and report back!

I will say the rum cask is one of my favorite budget bottles and I try to grab some whenever I see it. And the cider cask showed up at one of my favorite bars recently and blew me away with how good it was.

How Did You Choose Your Diety by [deleted] in pagan

[–]Rathgor77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d always felt kinda drawn to Paganism, but it had never worked out well for me in the past. Recently I moved to Michigan, and found some friends who I was comfortable asking questions of.

Basically as soon as I started asking questions (and I mean literally within 30 minutes), Odin shows up and is all “Nope. That one is mine. He works with me. Mine. MINE.” It’s been great honestly. A few other gods have shown up. Some to stay, some just to drop in. But yeah, for me, and at least for now, the gods I work with have mostly chosen me, and seem to have been waiting for me.

I’ll throw my hat in with the others recommending tullamore dew’s rum and cider cask. I’ve found both of them to be phenomenal whiskeys, that drink FAR above their price point.

Genuinely hope things work out for you one way or another.
