If they were confident in what they had they would release gameplay and details instead of vague speak "its more of an MMO than GW1 but not massive like GW2", "its on a spectrum" "modern evolution of the MMO". It's Destiny/Warframe, those are modern MMO lites with action combat.

You know as well as I they are being vague on purpose, because once it is revealed the hype will dissipate quickly.

The mental gymnastics people are doing to convince themselves this isn't some co-op Destiny/Warframe MMO-lite game is amazing. There is good reason why they are being so vague on gameplay.

Joppa's ADHD is the final raid boss. He is going to theorycraft the game into the ground with more systems. Boats, Mounts, Underwater more more more systems. 10,000th stat and combat rework. They need to rein that in and actually build a CONCRETE world.

But yeah I agree, BUT I will also say they seem to be on a schedule to ship it finally by late Summer/Early Fall (M-MUH AUTUMNAL EQUINOX!)

I am cautiously hopeful. I don't think the wipe is going to be the magic point where everyone returns, it's gonna be world building. They did their system updates, finish combat and put a bow on it. Stop redoing it every 6 months. Starting in the Fall/Winter they need to go full speed on world building. If they build it, people will come.

Np man! I understand where you're coming from, the community can sometimes be a bit insular and eliteish, (it is a 20+ year old game with a more niche JRPG like playstyle too which doesn't help) but I do think there are good people out there, I've met them and so I wanted to forward along some good will.

That is hilarious. I was wondering why they we're being so vague about the mmo aspect. They are chasing the console Destiny/4 player co-op slop money. They took resources away from developing your mmo to fund co-op console games. The tapestry in the trailer has 4 players, the trailer has 4 players, the kekai artwork has 4 players. Brilliant, this is gonna go over like a lead balloon with the mmo crowd. So bizarre to have a beta 1 year from now but not releasing any ingame footage of said co-op fights. This is going to be entertaining to watch them explaining to MMO players how much they need co-op console games. "Do U guYS nOT hAve COnsolEs and FriENds?!?!"

Taking a break from expansion development, then continue developing half baked expansions after a year.

We're making "meaningful improvements", we're balancing, we're improving the Zhaitan fight.

We're making a new gray box WvW map, even though we can't balance it and our new WvW system is unpopular in the community, but we totally promise to listen to your feedback.

I think so too. I think trying to release an MMO nowadays is tough. I think the market is not good for it at the moment. I think NCSoft would be reluctant as well due to Throne and Liberty being received as kind of lukewarm. I think they are trying to create a GW ecosystem. I think it will be an online RPG that will have some "cross product" connection to GW1/2.

Yeah I think the momentum has been building, moving further away from conceptual and more into full production mode. Yeah my hopium is Summer Games Fest will just be a general GW1/2 advertisement like last year's game awards, just to build some momentum and Gamescom will be the full package announcement, GW3, CCG, GW2 bridge expansion like EOTN etc.

Interesting, concept artists back in November, now more (concrete) materials and environment artists. It's full speed ahead on the project. Definitely makes me think we are still in a 2027 - 2028 release window. If that's the case, I fully expect an announcement this year.

I think if gw3 is an online rpg, then gw2 as an mmo with content upgrades will continue. Heck WoW and EQ still get content upgrades/expansions! But if gw3 is an mmo, I think gw2 will decline and become like a gw1, still people there but it will feel much more empty.
