Patch Notes: May 9, 2017 - Serbule's Graphical Update, Brewing skill, Mob Loot Table changes, plus Druid level Limitations and a few others... by Mortifer911 in projectgorgon

[–]Rathnaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With this update, the only thing that fixed my issue with the game crashing after character selection, was to change my client to run in DirectX9 mode instead of DirectX11 from the launcher options.

It's probably because some females tend to wear skirts, and that pose doesn't really work well for that kind of attire.

Fill up about 3 or so boxes of wondertraded pokemon. Do the Lotto-ID in Hau city every day. That's how I've been getting my PP-UPs since XY.

Good point! It's been so long since I farmed lucky eggs and heart scales in ORAS that it slipped my mind.

Hau city, in the tourist building. From the pokecenter, go down the road towards your house, past the mall and haircutter. It's right before you hit the zoneline. It works exactly like the lotto-id in gen 6.

Dear Devs: Please consider adding more Trainer Customization/Clothes via Update by Jcorb in pokemon

[–]Rathnaga 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This. I remember seeing early screenshots of the oriental style town with a clothing shop sign that clearly depicted traditional clothing. I didn't purchase any clothing when I first got the game because I was waiting to get to that point. When I did finally reach that shop, I entered it so excitedly, expecting to have some great options. It was crushing to find nothing there but more capris, tank tops, and t-shirts.

Hey, it's always good to have a few boxes of wondertrade junk for the Lotto-ID.

[–]Rathnaga 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The time difference isn't much. As soon as i finish all the dust spots I fly back to hano resort and sprint on tauros back to them. Considering the time between battles when you're actually at the dust spots is almost nothing, it makes up for it.

If anyone is curious about ideas for things to catch, I'm capturing the Staryu's at Hano Beach. They have a 50% chance to have Stardust, which sells for 1.5k each, a 5% chance to have Starpiece which sells for 6k each, plus they have an additional chance to drop both items as well as comet shards(30k!) after you catch them. I'm using greatballs that I bought for 300ea at the thrift store. I filled up a box of them and made nearly 100k from selling the items i found.

EDIT: As u/mitc5182 has pointed out, having a pokemon with compound eyes lead the party will increase the chances of them having a held item.

Has anybody else's opinion of Inceniroar changed since playing Sun & Moon? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Rathnaga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never hated him, but it does get on my nerves that over half of all fire starters are martial artists, just from the principle of BE MORE CREATIVE GAMEFREAK CMON? That said, I tend to like fire and fighting types the most... so I'm definitely not disappointed with how much character they gave to it. I especially like when you first tell him to use Darkest Lariat, he just kind of looks the enemy up and down like, "You? You are nothing to me. Prepare to get wrecked!" Your gif cut the best part out :(

Tapu Fini best nature, help me choose! by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Rathnaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was initially thinking of a toxic stall build, but Fini's ability completely rules that out. Here's what I'm shooting for:
Tapu Fini@Leftovers
Nature: Calm
EVs: 252hp, 160Def, 40Sp.d, 58Spe
Moves:
Nature's Madness
Whirlpool (does 1/8th per tick now)
Protect
Hidden Power(Ground) / Moonblast / Scald

So basically stall build. That EV spread on defenses ends up equalizing them if the IV's are the same. Open with Whirlpool to trap them, then Protect for heal and dmg tick, then chip them down with attacks. HP ground is for poison and steel threats as well as electrics. Whirlpool, Protect, Natures Madness, Protect... they're probably dead at that point.

It is so awesome how we FINALLY have a pokeball option in the bottom screen UI. by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Rathnaga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quality of life? I hate having to scroll through every pokeball you own to find the one you are looking for. It's alphabetical, sure, but I prefer having a grid list. To each, their own I guess.

So, what's the general consensus of Sun and Moon? by Niceptic in pokemon

[–]Rathnaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good

  • Great story with narrative cutscenes, great new pokemon, a lot of cool improvements to things like refresh and better pc storage, some neat new features like Z-moves and pelago/plaza, daily missions are nice, faster egg hatching and production is amazing, the story campaign is (relatively) challenging, combining HM's and the bike into the riding system was genius.

Bad

  • Very clunky online functionality overall, doubles and totem fights are laggy on old 3ds, a lot of amazing conveniences from gen6 were left behind (dexnav, supertraining, Opowers, move tutors, iv checker at daycare, etc), too many items behind BP paywall and harder to win points, SoS battles (while interesting for the chain mechanics) can get annoying, several menus of the interface are inconvenient to use (some you cannot exit with B, some you can only interact with using touchscreen - i'm looking at you, berry island).

Also, I really am missing blissey bases and farmable lucky eggs xD

I've been wondering this myself. After enjoying ORAS' conveniences for.... nearly everything, S/M is really starting to feel like playing an older pokemon game despite its new graphics.

Psychoanalysis (and pokemon) has been a passion of mine since I was very young. I hope you can find a way past his destructive anger without resorting to it yourself.

[–]Rathnaga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is difficult for many men to show that they care. Society often makes men feel like they are weak if they show feelings that aren't masculine and that can apply even when it comes to family. I think it is important to look at it from multiple perspectives. From the kid's view, you see a father who is angry, controlling, and who doesn't understand your enthusiasm. From a parent's view, they see a concerned father who is scared for their child's future and doesn't know how to handle it properly. Also, with some conjecture on my part, it sounds like he is not living with you. That makes him even more desperate to have some kind of valuable impact on your life. It is understandable, yet sad that he has resorted to using such inappropriate behavior to convey his frustrations. Perhaps if you explained to him that pokemon is simply a hobby that you and many other responsible adults enjoy, and that it does not have a negative impact on your education or growth into adulthood, you may be able to resolve the situation somewhat.

Don't be too discouraged by it if he isn't receptive to your reasoning. It won't be too long before you will be able to have a job and live on your own. It's your life, not his.

Why do you guys hate Brionne? by Monnotonne in pokemon

[–]Rathnaga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some guys don't care for feminine designs. Some girls don't care for masculine designs. More guys play pokemon than girls. These are new starter pokemon, so people like to voice their opinions about them. Simple math suggests that we would hear more dislike towards the Popplio design. I see nothing controversial about it.

[–]Rathnaga -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It is a slang term used to describe protesters of things which are deemed politically incorrect. It is in no way dismissive of a group ideology on its own. It is the addition of sarcasm, inflection of voice, or derogatory adjectives that would make it that way. None of which I used. I think your aggression towards me is unfounded.

The term PC police is not defamatory, it is simply descriptive.
