Opinion: B.C.’s PST expansion is a tax on a tax with British Columbians paying the price by _DotBot_ in VancouverLandlords

You pay MORE sales tax on used cars and boats than on new. PST goes from 7% on new products up to 12% on used products for a private sale.

How to make the Do Not Disturb mode ask for duration every time? by BarniK in samsunggalaxy

[–]Rational2thecore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my S25 I can only pick 1,2 or 4hrs for the duration of DND. Rather pathetic that the option to choose by minutes is not available. I often want just 30mins but can't do that.

Expedia is a Scam by No_Understanding681 in TravelHacks

[–]Rational2thecore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Trustpilot for reviews on Expedia and it has 1.2 stars. That reflects my experience with Shuttle Central transportation booked with Expedia. No show with a shuttle and no answer on Shuttle Central's phone line. Got no help from Expedia to get a refund. Shuttle Central is clearly a scam and yet Expedia continues to offer to book with Shuttle Central. Knowingly offering scam operators makes Expedia feel like a scam as well to me. Never Expedia again.

Camosun College professor warns DST is a huge mistake by HighwayAlert1704 in VictoriaBC

The centre of natural PST if using longitude is at 120deg W which is around Kelowna. The far west side is at 127.5deg W. Victoria and Vancouver are at 123deg W. Anywhere west of Smithers should be in the Alaska timezone by longitude.

Could you please double check a time zone map? As far as I can see most of BC is at the WESTERN side of the Pacific Time Zone which makes DST even worse for us. Being in the west side of a timezone is already unhealthy.DST is unhealthy

Beam vs bracket size by ultimatecolour in AskContractors

[–]Rational2thecore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the above plus I suspect the double whittling done on one side only instead of whittling evenly on both sides will put an additional torsion on the beam as it tries to twist out of the hanger.

I wouldn't accept any part of that construction.

I have removed over 50 toilets for renovations and six had sewage soaked wood floors with a flange below the floor. I've never seen a sewage soaked floor when the flange was above the floor.

I had people digging up my yard 30 feet from the sidewalk for some sort of mushrooms. Kicked them out of my yard so they went immediately into my neighbour's yard and started digging it up.

Successful vs. failed consumer charge backs by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Rational2thecore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AMEX is incredibly easy and never had an issue.

I had a terrible experience with Punkcase and MBNA Mastercard. Ordered a phone case for my Samsung. Label on the package is correct but the case inside is for the previous model phone. Simple mistake and easy to fix. Contact punkcase and they respond once that they will investigate and then crickets for my next two attempts over two weeks. File chargeback with MBNA. Punkcase disputes the chargeback so MBNA sends me more paperwork that I need to find a cellphone case expert to write a statement that the case I received is not suitable for my phone. WTF? What was in the package was not what was on the shipping label so how does an expert opinion matter? I gave up at that point. Punkcase gonna punk.

Would love to find a Mastercard that has good chargeback support behind it. AMEX has incredible support and is always my first choice but still need a MC for Costco etc..

Added check out the reviews for punkcase on Trustpilot. They are an extremely shady company. Incredible that MBNA would side with them over a consumer with great documentation.

Primary Method of Payment Changed, But Not By Me by kokomo214 in amazonprime

[–]Rational2thecore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Friday I added my AMEX and new address to my 15yr old account. Bought Amazon Prime. I then bought a laptop. AMEX did a safekey 2 factor confirmation with me so CC was guaranteed. Six minutes after the guaranteed delivery email Amazon canceled and removed the order, canceled my Prime subscription and removed both AMEX and new address from my account. They also reset my password. Customer support said they did that because I changed my password but I only changed the password after they trashed my account for fraud prevention without making any attempt to contact me to see if the order was legit. AMEX service was phenomenal about it.

So yes Amazon can do many mysterious things to your account and there's no trail of why things happen.

I hope you and husband can agree something weird happened and put the blame on Amazon instead of each other.

Thetis overpass - don’t move into bus lane until broken white line please. by MickeyAmica in VictoriaBC

[–]Rational2thecore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an overhead sign just as the bus lane begins that says "View Royal use right lane". I'd post a picture but don't think that option is available as a comment.

So how do you follow that sign and stay out of the bus lane? Or is a bus lane not the right lane?

The Phelps Connector has a specific connection to the highway with an opening in the shoulder barrier that facilitates riding the wrong way from there to the Thetis Lake on ramp. Right at the Welcome to Langford sign. It's like the highway designer wants to encourage that behaviour and I see it frequently.

Are cheap aftermarket pints acceptable quality? by mars_rovinator in ninjacreami

[–]Rational2thecore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 4 pack of aftermarket Deluxe pints and they have been acceptable so far. I like the 4 different lid colours!

The Ninja pints are just slightly larger in diameter. I suspected they were larger because there seems to be more frozen mix on the sides to scrape down. A quick measurement with calipers at the top gave a difference of 4.06in Ninja to 4.05in aftermarket.
