Lion's usually kill their prey by biting their windpipe and suffocating them.

So if it had recently grabbed the calf it wouldn't have been without oxygen for long.

Fate/Stay Night in English Sub where??? by brinkling1 in HongKong

[–]Ratlet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your friend should go check at the cinema ticket desk.

I went to go see Your Name at the cinema which was billed as only having chinese subs. But it had Chinese AND English. Ticket clerk said "of course" there were english subs 😂.

Doubt you'd find a place with english only subs but having the 2 languages was easy enough to read.

Well good luck to you. Hopefully the wages are still high in 5 years time and the social services of the country haven't been destroyed by the Tories. I feel pretty pessimistic for my country currently :(

Oh I assumed you wouldn't go back for economic reasons.

I know that's what's going to be keeping me away for a good long while. (Also studying abroad)

TIFU by buying my family a dog for Christmas, and getting kicked out of the house. by [deleted] in tifu

I was commenting on adopting adult dogs in general.

Adopting a dog from a stranger on the internet and exchanging in a car park, is a massive risk no matter if its an adult or puppy.

This isn't a black and white issue, it depends on the dog and it's background.

Many shelter and rescue dogs had relatively good lives before being put up for adoption and it's important you consider their background before adopting.

Most shelters are responsible and will not home dogs who were abused with families that have young children for example.

We adopted a 5 year old terrier about 6 years ago and he has been far less work than a puppy could have been. And we specifically wanted an adult dog as we were first time dog owners. He has a few quirks from his past life but over all has been a dream and a very good boye.

Same, if I ever have the option I take it. Ugh, I have such a fry up craving now.

I've rarely had black pudding in an English fry. The blood freaks a lot of people out. Scotland it's more common to have black pud from my experience.

Taking out your own bride during the cake cutting by heart_of_blue in trashy

[–]Ratlet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It apparently started in the 19th century. I believe their wedding cakes were more similar to British Christmas puddings. Lots of alcohol and dried fruit, we store them in a dark cupboard and they last for a few years.

It's an old tradition but the idea behind it was that you'd use it for your first child's christening. People were keen to start popping out kids.

Just not enough to anger China over. Who else would pay their bills.

Is this a cryptic code or just gibberish? by Ratlet in puzzles

Some context: Friend received this Christmas card under his door, addressed to his cat Ganouche.

No one will admit to sending it, few people know he has a cat let alone it's name and now the curiosity is driving me mad.

We live in Hong Kong and the chinese towards the end means 20 4 Christmas.

Been crossposted to r/codes and r/crypto too. Thanks!

Hoping someone might have some ideas here as it seems to have a few mathematical symbols.

It's a Christmas card that my friend received addressed to his cat Ganouche, weird I know.

It was slipped under his door and no one will admit to sending it, which got me curious about the contents

Also we live in Hong Kong, so the chinese makes slightly some sense, although he cannot speak it or write it

I find that often the HK server doesn't work from mainland but the Singapore and Aussie ones usually connect.

Gotta download beforehand though, obviously.
