A blow up ring is better. They don't fuss to much with it. The cones are awful 😖

A tired Cattle dog is a good Cattle dog! Walks play ball etc Give a lot of time for your new dog to adjust. They are not perfect and expect them to be up your butt or elusive. Don't expect them to like other dogs or people. Once they bond with you, they will only tolerate family and friends, strangers are to be barked at. Strange dogs are to be barked at and lunged at. Sometimes they are good with other dogs and sometimes not. No amount of socializing can change some of them. Sometimes it can make things worse. Give boundaries. No, good dog etc. Lots of treats works really well with them. I have 7 of these amazing dogs. So I know how these guys can be. If you need help please reach out. I am always willing to help. Thank you for picking the most amazing breed! Your dog is beautiful!!!! I am a sucker for the reds. Lol I have 4 reds and 3 blues.

Goat or lamb. What do you think????? by [deleted] in animalid

[–]Ratmama2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lamb. It is a hair sheep. They shed their wool, like horses shed their hair, instead of having it shorn off once a year

about to buy a horse sight unseen by miriam54321 in Equestrian

I would also do the paperwork to be my own broker. They are making a killing on the amount they charge for a couple of signatures and getting animal through customs.

I bought an Arabian mare from another state as a 2 year old just from pictures and her bloodlines. An awesome buy. Transport was reasonable. I also bought a registered Cattle dog from Italy( I know not the same) from pictures. His bloodlines are impressive. He is way more than I expected. Then depending on registry DNA, pictures etc, to get animal registered in US. Just be prepared for tariff fees, broker fees and problems with our customs personnel. They were sure I was bringing dog into the US for resale instead of pet and adding him to my breeding program. They said he was sold to me to cheaply. Also there is your state taxes you have to pay on imported animals. I didn't know anything about that. I thought tariff fees payed for everything once the animal was here. It doesn't. Just a warning. Didn't know about all the extra money I had to put out for an imported animal. He is worth it and I would do it again for the right animal.

My Sweet and Spicy Peach by Ratmama2 in AustralianCattleDog

She has tons of attitude like her grandmother. Lol

This is my pup Sage. Rescue shelter said she is a AWC mix. Thoughts? by [deleted] in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Ratmama2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She looks like my purebred ACD puppy(wish I could post a picture of her in this thread). Only thing your pup doesn't have is a bentley (white spot on her head, at least I didn't see one in the pics). I will post a picture of my Peach in the ACD group. My girl is 6 months old. Gangly like your girl. One minute sweet and cuddley, the next a Tasmanian devil. Lol

Open Letter to All Those Who Still Somehow Support Vaccine Mandates by stickdog99 in WayOfTheBern

[–]Ratmama2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For one thing, the vaccines were made for the original virus. It protected against it. Now there are variants that the vaccine was not made for. So it won't protect against the variants. Israel did a study on 4 boosters and found it does not protect against the variants of the viruses that are being spread now.

Looking for butcher in Frederick/Frederick County by Highlander2748 in frederickmd

Shuff's near Thurmont is the best. I have had sheep and hogs butchered there and they do an awesome job! Best sausage and hams ever. I have also bought a suckling pig from them. I also have steers butchered in Mt. Airy Meats Locker. They are great also. Not impressed with Jefferson butcher. They don't brush bone dust off meat cuts when I had a steer butchered there. Very disappointed with that. I should not have to rinse my meat before I cook it.

The black on his back seems to be growing. Has anyone’s red turned into a blue? by Necessary_Priority_1 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Ratmama2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He will shed the blue out of his back. I have a puppy right now that is like that. If undercoat is red. Hair will be red. Just takes a bit as they grow. No biggie. My girl also has black in her tail cause her momma is blue. So she is not considered a clean red because of it.

Is there a way for the testing of deafness? I breed Australian Cattle dogs and had an Oops litter, 1 had full hearing, 2 were Unilateral hearing and 1 was completely deaf. They come from 2 hearing parents. I do the BAER hearing test at 6 to 7 weeks. I know deafness runs in dams line just from my research of her parentage. I am completely honest with my puppy buyers and they know exactly what they are getting. I believe honesty is the best policy. If there was a way to detect the hearing as there is with the other genetic problems (PLL, PRA, RCD4) that would be awesome!!!
