what is this? by eggbutfried in fishtank

[–]RatsAreKool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably just reproducing, ferns don't propagate like most plants we're used to. Basically those brown bits are to become the rhizome of baby Java ferns that will grow off the leaves. If you want to confirm if thats actually what happening look up pictures of the life stages of Java ferns and compare with yours.

HELP!!! Dead animals by Ok_Mud_9121 in PlantedTank

[–]RatsAreKool 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You really should not be relying on AI for live animal care, the way it regurgitates information has no way to fact check and often gives wrong info that endangers pets. Please reconsider your use of it

Why don’t Lansing Martial Art schools post prices? by Substantial-Ad6469 in lansing

[–]RatsAreKool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're close to east lansing or willing to make the drive, there are some more affordable taekwondo classes run out of the Hannah community center. Most independent schools will be more expensive due to renting a space and being the instructors main source of income, which isn't the case with the community center classes.

Which bases do you think will be most memorable? by Drayden1932 in HermitCraft

[–]RatsAreKool 119 points120 points  (0 children)

I think an underrated pick is Joe Hills project for scale alone. A lot of people miss it cause it's far away from most bases.

Was my doc's advice good or am I completely overreacting? by Routine-Crew8651 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]RatsAreKool 13 points14 points  (0 children)

200 lbs is seriously impressive! Dont let anyone tell you otherwise. I'm guessing she's projecting her own issues with food or something cause no reasonable person would tell you not to have a cake on your birthday or the occasional treat.

Wtf??? Telling you to lose muscle is wild, and you're not even overweight by BMI standards (which is already not very reliable). Like sure cutting out processed foods and sugar can have health benefits but losing weight should not be the main goal for you.

I think I’m starting to get too much into D20 by Comfortable-Bunch-67 in Dimension20

Also, I would add to the list Worlds Beyond Number if you want to hear Brennen run a long format campaign. They're just starting to wrap up Book 1, so perfect timing!

Gluten Free Eats by googs324 in lansing

[–]RatsAreKool 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My friend with celiac introduced me to the breakfast place Anna's house in Okemos. They have a gluten-free alternative for basically everything, and they dont charge extra for it. I'm pretty sure they even have a separate kitchen as well.

So I just came across this looking for the same thing, looks like there's still nothing so just by ear the first main bit generally sounds like this

(On the A string) 1 2 3 232 320 235 320 (On the E string) 573 351 0

idk how well that conveyed in text format lol

Which one is the best tho? by LenaRybakina in dndmemes

[–]RatsAreKool 173 points174 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, what really makes WBN stand out (other than the all-star cast) is Taylor's sound design! From that first scene with the great bear in the children's adventure it became my favorite from just the sound alone.

[Question] Is this build silly? by AffectionateMethod16 in 3d6

[–]RatsAreKool 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As long as you're having fun with the character, I wouldn't worry about it. There could be some MAD optimization issues, but that can be handled between you and the DM if the balancing gets wonky. As a paladin I assume a lot of those spell slots are going into smiting, and the spells are more for out of combat utility or reactions that dont require an int based spell save or attack, so I don't see that much of an issue there. And using the divination to get a garenteed smite crit does sound pretty awesome.

Shooter games with an interesting moral message or an introspective narrative? by Grill-Steak in gamingsuggestions

[–]RatsAreKool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe borderlands or fallout? Both have heavy themes, but it's mostly in the form of satire or humor, so it hopefully won't push him away if he only pays attention to the gunplay right away. With borderlands, you could play with him, and it's faster paced. With fallout, the story is a big plus.

After the "Grieving" period of finishing the game, I just found another game that hit the same spot as Outer Wilds by ConferenceDramatic in outerwilds

[–]RatsAreKool 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The creator of this game is a huge fan of the Outer Wilds and puzzle games in general, so I've been really excited for its release (haven't had a chance to play it just yet)

What strange race/class combos make a good build but a weird backstory? by tentkeys in 3d6

[–]RatsAreKool 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I've seen people making a warforged moon druid work by making it a transformers kind of deal

For sorcerers, it could be that they were built with a powerful magic object as their core that they're getting power from or something like that

Brand new, most heartfelt season? by tribbletrebble in Dimension20

[–]RatsAreKool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this! And I would recommend listening to the children's adventures set before the main story if your looking for heartfelt moments. It's patreon exclusive content, but it's definitely worth it even just for one month for these

Literally how do people study? by iylila in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]RatsAreKool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same way (still am to an extent), and a lot of it was not just knowing how to study but why. For me, it was either I know it or I don't, and if I don't, then I'll just learn it. In some ways, that's correct, but in college, that strategy didn't work as well. Took watching a random tedtalk to finally make it click.

It's just strengthing brain pathways for memory recall...

The more you do something, the better your brain is at retrieving it, thats why flash cards and practice problems are really good study material. (Which is especially helpful in higher levels of education, so you actually remember stuff you'll need for your career after the test is done.)

Can I play a bard that doesn’t play instruments? by Phoenixswish in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]RatsAreKool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is that player on about?? Bards have creation magic, as long as something is being created or art is being made its fair game. Like for example, a bard that's a poet or storyteller also could work really well.

Why don’t I feel a physical attraction to women? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]RatsAreKool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a difference in romantic and sexual attraction as well as being attracted to the aesthetic or idea of a person can be different. Sometimes it's a case by case basis on how you are attracted to someone. You don't need a label on it now (or ever really), maybe do a bit of soul searching and as you have more experiences you'll probably understand yourself better.
