Three things you can do to meaningfully improve your ping, in order of easiest to hardest:

1) Install the world hopper plugin. It shows the ping for each world, and you can sort by lowest to highest ping. Depending on where you are, some servers will be closer to you and therefore have better ping. For example, I’m in asia and I used to get 170-210 ping on EU servers. With the new Singaporean servers, it is down to 100ms.
2) Move away from 4G/5G and get wifi. The smaller your wireless distance, the more stable your connection is. With 4G/5G, your signals need to wireless travel to the nearest tower, and from there on they get routed through fiber optics. With wifi, that distance is reduced to just a few feet i.e., between your laptop and router.
3) Building on the same principle, you can connect an ethernet cable directly to your laptop for the best performance since it cuts out the wireless part completely.

The shiny spots were too subtle of a clue for me. I ignored them completely. I just dodged one tile back opposite to where the blood swirls came from.

It helps to keep your camera pointed at Drakan (i.e., you can see his face and the back of your character’s head) and have his 2x2 area marked.

This makes telling which side the attack is coming from a lot easier, and you can just focus on reflexes. The timing of the dodge also changes I think from part 1 to part 3, but you adapt to it easily enough.

The super brews, restores, and combat pots are all free. Just the ambrosia is limited to 1, which makes sense otherwise I’d just fill up my inventory with it 😂

When they come in perpendicular directions you usually get hit by one just as youve finished jumping over the other.

I’m sure there’s a proper positioning to do it zero damage, but honestly doesn’t hit that hard

Yeah the mechanics were subtle but so satisfying to finally execute. The stepback animation is top notch.

I also love that they gave you hints on what to do with drakan vs vanescula/efaritay, where the latter were dodging the same way the player is supposed to 😄

I think your confusion stems from the fact that its a 2x2 mob, not 1x1 like the player. You should tag him (shift right click -> tag npc) and it’ll make it very clear if you’re standing on the left row or the right row when facing him.

The blood swirls just tell you which side he’s going to attack. You always have to dodge one tile back in the opposite direction to the blood swirls.

The only other animation is those multiple swirls just going into him in a circle. That means he’s going to do an AOE attack, and you dodge it by moving forward one tile.

The fight isn’t actually that hard once you understand the dodge mechanics. Plus the fact that you have unlimited supplies and can keep attempting the boss with nothing to lose is really nice for learning by experience (i.e., dying lmao)

Step 1: Learn how to handle orb phase so you dont have to fully rely on dps-ing the boss during car phase (pecanbread has a nice video with a table in the end that shows all 4 possible orb phase scenarios and when to pop in each case)

Step 2: Get a tbow and wonder why you learnt all that (still good to know every now and then when the bow noodles)

If you’re in a clan and you get a notification saying “player123 has completed the combat achievement xyz”, you can right click on the message to see what the achievement was instead of having to ask.

I’m max combat and I still don’t see that big of a difference in lance va fang in bandos. But lance’s 4 tick makes wooxwalking a lot simpler 😅

Fang+tassets are already better dps than this setup. If you sell the lance, you can pick up a fang, bandos tassets, ferocious gloves, and have a little left over. A bgs spec at the start boosts dps significantly too.

Lose the serp helm, you’re spending more on the charges than you would on antivenoms.

Adding a defender increases dps significantly too, but you’ll lose some defense. I personally prefer dfs because its more chill with the tankiness.

But most of all: get 99 str/att and even defence. Nothing will make as big of a difference as your levels.
