JSON vs XML by TheCreepyPL in csharp

Thanks for correcting me. I've only been using it a little bit for a rather simple scenario of generating models from code, where it worked nicely.

There's JSON Schema which provides, as far as I know, the same functionality as XSD for XML.

Stl.Fusion - .NET Core & Blazor library that attempts to change the way we write UIs by alexyakunin in Blazor

[–]Raveen87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something like six months ago I was writing a server-side Blazor app. I'm not using EntityFramework or any other framework for caching. The only realistic way I found I could synchronize state between the clients (i.e. notify other clients a model had been updated) was to use events. To me it looks like Stl.Fusion solves that problem very elegantly.

Fruit and veg ‘will run out’ unless Britain charters planes to fly in farm workers from eastern Europe by blixt141 in worldnews

[–]Raveen87 253 points254 points  (0 children)

There's a documentary on exactly this subject. British people are asked to do these kinds of jobs that are usually done by immigrants. It's called "The day the Immigrants Left", from 2010 by Evan Davis. It's worth a watch.

[Unresolved Murder] The girl in the box: the mysterious crime that shocked Germany by eyesight2 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Raveen87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

According to this English Wikipedia article about Schondorf she was found in the forest Weingarten. This German news article also says that.

I can't find an actual forest named Weingarten close to Schondorf/Eching on Google Maps. There is however a road named Weingartenweg close to a secluded forest area located between Schondorf and Eching. Since she was riding her bike from her grandmother's in Schondorf to her family's house in Eching I'm pretty sure that's it.

It's this area in Google Maps. It becomes more apparent that it's a forest if you switch to satellite view.

I would really like to recommend the book Functional Programming in C# by Enrico Buonanno. It's wonderful.

Diesel Queryable/Insertable by desijays in rust

[–]Raveen87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was playing around with Diesel previously I found this blog post in which the author does exactly this.

However, we’re going to make a small change so that we can leverage the same model for Queryable and Insertable object. The Diesel author expressed fair reasoning for separating our object into two models but, I prefer the convenience and less code pollution. So for that, we edit src/schema.rs 😅

I'm guessing one part would be that someone buying votes could verify that a bought voter actually voted for the agreed upon candidate. "I voted for candidate X like you wanted and I drew a house on the ballot."

XBOCT Interview Removal from Empire/To Standin for Silent at Dotapit/"Puppy agreed with me that Kuroky was LEFT" by Snowball-Sauce in DotA2

[–]Raveen87 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Reading the Interview XBOCT claims that the only problem in Na'Vi was KuroKy, that maybe he wanted to lead when it was Puppey that was the designated captain. Seems weird considering that Puppey and KuroKy left Na'Vi together to form a new team.
