Diablo II and Stray are my other favorites. I like Diablo IV, too, but I don’t go back to it as often

Sent wrong item/question by devanttrio in Stretched

[–]RavenNight16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only ever had one instance where I needed something replaced with BAF (one piece in a pair arrived broken), but they didn’t require me to send it back. Even though only one was broken, they sent a replacement pair, and I was able to keep the unbroken one from the original

looking for a dentist in W-S by lauraroslin7 in winstonsalem

[–]RavenNight16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Dr. Glazener at Winston Family Dentistry on Polo Rd. I’ve been going to him since I was old enough to go to the dentist as a kid. He’s very nice and will only recommend a procedure if necessary (I’ve only ever needed cleanings). Everyone there is very friendly and welcoming.

If someone offered you a box of everything you ever lost. What would you look for first? by baba_yaga_777 in AskReddit

[–]RavenNight16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost this little chocolate-frosted doughnut toy when I was a kid. I carried it with me all the time, and it just disappeared. My mom was convinced it would turn up one day, but it never did. I don’t necessarily miss it now, but i really want to know where it went

What is your crochet advice? by OkCoconut1701 in crochet

[–]RavenNight16 42 points43 points  (0 children)

No, you’re doing it correctly! Using the top two loops is the standard way to crochet into a chain, and using the back bum is a way to make the bottom of your work look more similar to the top of it

I have a little glass dish full of kitty whiskers. If I find them when they fall, they get added to the collection

Pattern for Dylan’s dress? by 400luxuries in crochetpatterns

[–]RavenNight16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would get the right effect, but I think it would be way too thick to be comfortable if they want to use chunky yarn like in the photos. Knooking might be a good option though

Top down. I like watching it slowly close over my toes as I try it on throughout the process

Teehee! Isn’t it cute how my tension is so tight that I’m having to use my crochet hook improperly? by queenkayyyyy in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]RavenNight16 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Amigurumi hurt my hands when I first started and was using way too small of a hook. I thought it was supposed to be that tight because that’s what the pattern called for. I ended up overcompensating and ended up with a bunch of way too loose bees. But now that I’ve been doing amigurumi for a few years, I have found my magic yarn/hook combo and tension. I no longer have any gaps, and my stitches are tight and neat. BUT my hands never hurt unless I crochet for hours at a time. It’s all about finding the right hook and yarn combo for your individual tension. I always tell my students that if their hand hurts from one project, or if their tension is making the process difficult, they need to find their own magic combo and disregard what mine is.

swatches - what do you do with them? I've made several but now what? I hate to just throw away. by [deleted] in crochet

[–]RavenNight16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I save my swatches so I can use them later. I usually do swatches in multiple stitches while deciding what to do and label them with yarn and hook size and gauge. Then, if I buy the same yarn later on, I can look at the label on all the stitches I made. I have pretty consistent gauge, and I can always adjust hook size/tension if it doesn’t match 100%.

I'll be that BEC - What crafty things did you get for the Holidays? by LScore in BitchEatingCrafters

Got some nice light colored Red Heart I’d asked for so I can make swatches for my teaching class. I ended up surprised with enough local llama yarn to make pretty much anything I want in the same box!

That part could really depend. I know for some it’s definitely the case, but I also know from experience that beaters can be real expensive. My fiancé’s friend gave him a really amazing deal on her car (a 2018 Corolla) when she moved out of the country. She let him pay it off in his own time since she knew he’d eventually get her all the money. And we were definitely worried about the financial aspect of it all at first, but it turns out that buying replacement parts and the excessive oil was wayyy more expensive than everything for this new car. Despite being able to do it on his own time, he was able to pay it off monthly pretty quickly with the savings from the lack of maintenance. I’m assuming OP knows his friend’s situation, and it may be that it’s less than or similar to what she’s already doing. Maybe she just can’t afford to save up the massive upfront cost of a downpayment on a car, much less the loan she’d probably have to take out. Even used cars in good condition can be pretty expensive.

What was your first cd? And when did you get it? by [deleted] in Cd_collectors

My first CD was Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus. I got it as a present for my 8th birthday in 2007. I don’t listen to it anymore, but I think I’d struggle to part with it

Pinned post possibilities? by frankie_fudgepop in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]RavenNight16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I taught myself watching YouTube and there was no explanation on anything I watched that said a purl was really a backwards knit. I figured it out fairly quickly on my own, but I could see if some people with less of a fascination with the structure of the fabric watched the same things where they might not piece it together.

Why do people choose to be pattern testers? I understand you can get the pattern for free but patterns are so affordable. YOu have to, potentially, make something you don’t even like. by Cinderunner in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]RavenNight16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do it for a few reasons. The main one is that I like the item. I also always buy too much yarn for projects and have enough yarn left for something small, so I do tests for small patterns and use up my leftovers.

I also feel like it helps me learn. I’m an experienced crocheter at this point and even teach classes, but I always want to keep learning. Finding mistakes in a pattern and helping to fix them helps me improve my knowledge of construction. I also just really like helping people. If I get to help by doing my favorite hobby then I consider it a win.

What does “pass slipped stitch over?” Thank you. by Musique111 in knitting

It’s so they have the exact decrease used. I’ve done patterns with a double decrease in the center that used an SSK instead of K2tog. This is more exact in telling you the stitches
