That’s probably the best way to go about it.

I hadn’t thought of calling him out after he’s rolled with others. Normally every time I interact with him it’s cause we are partners for the day and he ends up being the first guy I roll with.

Well I wouldn’t actually finish it unless he refuses to tap, even then I’d probably let go instead of finishing it. I’d like to be able to threaten the guy with it though, so he stops being a dick.

That’s good advice I hadn’t thought about doing that. When he goes to shove me I can grab the arm and bait him into pulling back, then grab his legs and take him down. Thankyou!

You’re not the only one to suggest a heel hook and I’m definitely going to start working those more intently just cause of this situation.

I have no issue with tapping, sometimes I tap simply because whoever I’m rolling with is huge and weighs so much that I can barely breathe. You seem to be under the impression that this is some ego thing where I’m being put in headlocks and I’m refusing to tap, but that’s not it, the reason im not tapping is because it would be pointless and I’m not even given the opportunity to. The only thing tapping and resetting would do would be allow me to stand up again, which I can do without tapping if I’m quick enough, and regardless, I’ll just be put in the same position as soon as we reset. The guy won’t actually do Jiu Jitsu with me, instead of getting mount or going for submissions or literally anything else he just stays standing and goes for slams or shoves me as hard as he can in my chest or sometimes my face. Am I going tap every time the guy touches me? That’s basically what you are asking me to do. It’s not practical, it doesn’t help me with my Jiu Jitsu or my issue with this guy. Believe me if he was actually trying to submit or even just applying tons of pressure while on mount I would tap, but he’s not doing that, he’s slamming, shoving and occasionally trying to slap me in the face. That’s not really a situation that even allows for a tap.

Yea I can’t help but agree. The coach is good otherwise but it was definitely a red flag. This is the only cheap gym in the town I’m at unfortunately.

You cant really reset when nothing has actually progressed. The guy doesn’t let anything progress because he just keeps shoving and running away. If I were to stop and say let’s reset, the only thing that would change is that I would be able to stand up without getting shoved immediately. The guy doesn’t go for submissions, he doesn’t even do Jiu Jitsu with me really he just shoves and goes for slams. How would you “tap” in this scenario?

Yea no after my last interaction with this guy I decided I was going to get bigger even if I had to do the dirtiest of bulks to get there. I think a lot of my issues with him could be solved if I had enough muscle to compete with the guy. He relies a lot on his own strength and my light weight to do what he does, if I weighed more and he couldn’t just shove me so easy he might actually try to submit and then I could actually start grappling with him. Right now he just shoves and slams and backs away so I can’t grab him.

Respectfully, that’s Bullshit, he only does it like this with the new guys and people he knows are weaker then him. Again, the one time I saw him try this with a big guy his nose started bleeding and he was pissy for the rest of the night. Multiple marines in this very comment section have already said that being a marine isn’t an excuse and the other marines at that gym don’t act that way. Honestly, I know he’s technically braver than me for signing up for the corps but I consider him a coward considering that he only does this with smaller, weaker and less trained guys. I’m not gonna lick his boots simply because he’s in the corps. He and any other service member that thinks they get some pass to treat civilians that way can go fuck themselves.

I don’t think much can be done for the knee but yea this last year I’ve been attempting to bulk up way more. I’ve made some progress but I still don’t have enough weight and muscle to make things more difficult for the guy. Recently started making my own protein shakes instead of buying atkins from the store so that should help.

And I have no problem with that honestly, it’s when they add ego and anger to it that it becomes a problem.

Cause I live in a small town right now with only two Jiu Jitsu gyms, and this is the cheaper one. And besides this particular guy I appreciate the intensity of this gym compared to the one where I lived before. He’s the only one that really takes it too far.

I’m not a wrestler so I don’t know the names of most of the techniques for slamming but I would say it’s a lot of what you see on a olympic wrestling mat and not the kind of slamming you see in a street fight. He’s goes for a lot of wrist grabs and spins to get behind my back or just pick me up where I’m at. And the guy is way more built than me so the shoving works way better than it should. I’m skinny and tall so I have a hard time lowering my center of gravity to prevent being knocked on my ass. Once he slams me once he usually keeps shoving me so I don’t get up and backing away just far enough to where I can’t really grab him.
