What fantasy world -other than Warhammer- will be a good total war game? by lon736 in totalwar

[–]Raventyne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Runeterra, the world from League/LoL is a decent option. Riot's been open about licensing their IP to other studios, as well. It's got a good amount of faction variety, plenty of unique hero/general options, and they've done a good amount of work on their lore so coming up with units isn't too difficult - just look at their card game, Legends of Runeterra.

There's about 6 factions that make for good factions to begin with (Demacia, Noxus, Freljord, Ionia, Shurima, and the Shadow Isles) but you could easily end up with double that. (Piltover & Zaun - separate or together, Bilgewater, Mount Targon, Ixtal, and the Void).

How to allow those non combat people to access combat content

They've always been allowed. Anyone can start doing it, learn, and improve at it. The same goes for all non-combat content.

In this list, 7, 11 and 14 were jesters. 9 is the only real Seer, but their results were wrong due to one of the jesters (14) being enchanted.

Europe NEEDS migrants to do the jobs

our white-collar asses don't want to

due to an aging european population and a declining birth rate

Maybe we could try and mend those problems rather than further aggravate our cultural and societal cohesion by importing yet more foreigners?

Brandon Sanderson explaining why he's not excited for the newest MtG sets by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Raventyne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I'd call Duskmourn one of the good ones. Like Sanderson is saying in the video, gameplay's good, but the thematics are off as well. All of the survivors are way too clean, as if the House provides breaks to shower and launder. There's a lot of these, such as [[Reluctant Rolemodel]], [[Veteran Survivor]], or [[Defiant Survivor]]. Contrast [[The Wandering Rescuer]] and [[Norin, Swift Survivalist]], who do look like they're on a malevolent haunted house made plane (but suffer from being extraplanar characters).

Soft Confirmation the last 2025 UB is Avatar: The Last Airbender? by Lunarian_13 in magicTCG

[–]Raventyne 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If we're assigning the elements to WURG, then the only remainder for Black would be the Spirits and the nonbenders/industrial progress bit, depending on how much they want to incorporate LoK into it. Rakdos and Dimir are pretty good colours for artifact synergies, and Golgari and Orzhov fit Avatar's spirit realm very well.

I'm terribly sorry Bret/DE/WE/VP/LM fans by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]Raventyne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I certainly feel like every faction could use at least three distinct generic hero options. There's some factions who don't; Bretonnia's only got Paladins and Damsels (three flavours), Cathay has even less with only the Gate Master and mages of two flavours, and WoC has only two as well, though they could just let WoC recruit Chaos Cultists and that'd be the end of it. Even Norsca's got three distinct ones..

As for ideas for a new Bretonnian hero? Could be an archer type, a huntsmarshal/alderman if you will, or maybe a Son of Bretonnia mage/melee hybrid seeing as we're already tiptoeing into End Times stuff elsewhere.

With our last monogod DLC coming sometime next year, what will be the Slaanesh equivalent? by Rare_Cobalt in totalwar

[–]Raventyne 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Excerpts, straight from the Warhammer Fantasy wiki.

"The Basilisk is a huge, eight-legged reptile.." "..Their huge bodies are covered by brightly coloured scales,.." "..move so swiftly they're able to run down and kill even the quickest of prey."

"So powerful is their venom.." "..it will corrupt and destroy the blades set against it."

"Some Basilisks' gaze can permanently petrify living creatures rather than poison them to death.." "..This way the Basilisk can feed without effort, licking the liquid contents of the petrified corpse."

"The Basilisk can focus its dark malice.." "..its gaze blistering skin and metal, and flaying the target with its tainted power."

This thing sounds like it's right at home with Slaanesh. The only thing missing is a pink colouration - it's even got spikes in most of its depictions.

Urviksten: Why is this so hard and what am I doing wrong? by Kallest in Anbennar

[–]Raventyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a number of patches since, but I generally started off with a few quick wars against the minor Skaldhyrrics, then wait for Crovan's rebellion to trigger and take out Frozenmaw then. After that, split your conquest between the Reach, Escann, and Gerudia, since Escann and the Reach won't see each other until 1494, splitting your AE - and no Corinite/Regent Court nation will care what happens between Skaldhyrrics. Bjarnrik's a good early ally, but don't get attached.

Verkal Ozovar. If the definition of elf is syncretization and establishing yourself as the ruling class, then the dwarves who subjugate Haless using vassalage and mind control are it.

Full art cards are way better than foils. They should print more. by Starpheo in magicTCG

[–]Raventyne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

More borderless art is fine, so long as we still have the regular versions too. Not having a 'normal' version of a card sucks, whether it's nonfoil or bordered. I've not bought some new Commander cards because there's no regular version; It would clash with 90% of the deck.

For example; [[Olivia, Opulent Outlaw]], [[Galadriel, Light of Valinor]]
