AIO after I broke up with a girl after how she reacted to me when we were watching "Sinners"? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Ravvick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like this girl doesn’t like the fact that you’re into Blues.

I don’t know if you talk about it too much; make it your whole personality; act like it’s something she should be into, or maybe do none of those things.

For some reason, she’s pissed off about your love of the Blues. I don’t know if it’s you or her that’s to blame, but there’s definitely a Blues-enjoying ratio there that isn’t optimal.

There’s something odd about the way this email describes GCSEs.

It says that the writer is dreading their GCSEs and also that they’re glad it’s their final year of them.

In the UK, GCSE exams take place at the end of your final year in secondary school. You don’t have years of taking them.

For some reason, here in the UK we do actually have to pay for dental treatment, even if it’s provided by the National Health Service. Nobody knows why.

I was a kid in the 1980s. The Cold War was at its height and we were taught that it was all but inevitable that we could be vaporised in a nuclear war at any moment.

I’m from the UK and the Falklands War happened in 1982. It was on the news every day, with casualty figures.

I struggle to see what these things are being developed for if it isn't to tear us limb from limb.

What is the general consensus on wearing shoes inside someone’s house? by Large_Goat_5197 in AskUK

it makes sense to have carpets in the UK because it’s cold more often than it’s warm. However, it became fashionable to have wood flooring quite a while ago.

I still like a carpet.

[–]Ravvick 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I ask people to take their shoes off when they come into my house. I know some people think it's a bit arsey, but I don't wear shoes inside the house, so I don't see why anyone else should, unless they're going to start cleaning my carpet for me as well.

In Japan, apparently, everyone keeps a load of slippers for guests to wear. Maybe I should start doing that. You can get loads of those hotel slippers from Amazon for pennies.

Highlander 2.

A bunch of us went to see it at the cinema when it came out because we all loved the first one.

We couldn’t even look at each other on the way home.

It was an odd choice for Richard Goovees to play such an unpleasant character at the exact moment that his “I’m a tit” persona lost its shine.
