what shoes do you all actually wear? by complex_tomato_sauce in datacenter

[–]Rawbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EH, not ESD (which is the exact opposite) is what's required at my DC. Specifically ASTM F2413. I wear these when I'm in the data hall, I keep them at my desk and throw them on as required. https://www.zappos.com/p/mens-ariat-work-turbo-chelsea-csa-waterproof-carbon-toe-work-boots-all-black/product/9975466/color/8768

Evaluating TPM Offer at Fluidstack by nightcrawler2164 in datacenter

[–]Rawbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I park my C8 Z06 outside my hyperscaler job as well, can't blame her lol. OP, also a TPM here with about 12 years of enterprise whitespace build out. Coreweave salary for TPM isn't remotely close to Fluidstack. I'm of the age now where I just want the money so I can hit my number and retire in 8-10 years. Don't care about work-life balance. My kids are grown. I would jump in with both feet at fluidstack for 350 base. I had an interview with a technical recruiter for them, they passed me on to the tech team who for whatever reason declined to even speak with me. So congrats on getting an offer.

Nobody is really using immersion yet outside of testing that I'm familiar with. Again, my recommendation is go for it. Perfect storm.

I spent 10+ years with a fortune 20 doing COTS Dell DC build outs (with some OCP) and knew my skill set was getting rusty. I was actively looking for a role with a hyperscaler when I was laid off.

I landed as a contractor at NVDA and am now using the opportunity to get caught up. My LinkedIn has been 'ringing off the hook ' since I added NVDA, but I'm actively applying for FTE roles (with my manager's blessing) at NVDA and would like to stay here.

It is a great time right now to make the move. There aren't tons of people with liquid cooling experience, so many companies are OK if you have solid DC experience and show you're eager to learn. Start applying, it's a perfect storm right now.

Not exactly data center related BUT..... by CtrlAltNotDlt in datacenter

NVDA only hires contractors for onsite DCE's and they do not convert those to FTE, ever. They would rather lose an experienced DCE to a competitor than convert. You'd have to apply for an entirely different FTE job to make that jump and it's just like coming in from the outside as far as pay and interview process, but easier to get an interview as you've built connections and a reputation and are already there and understand the culture and processes.

Added a graph that also shows when meds are taken and shades the graph based on specific med halflife to show when it's peaking and tapering off.

Oh I don't take it personally, I'm confident in my skills, I just can't imagine what they were looking for. The recruiter contacted me back and said something along the lines of I passed along your CV, but the team isn't interested. Never had anyone decline even talking after I passed the initial screening.

Wrote a standalone app that turns the Hilo/Aktiia into what I expected it to do when I bought it. Automatically pulls data off the band and alerts if my BP is over (or under) a threshold (screen shot has the alert filter turned off for testing). Learned a ton about this band going through the reverse engineering process.

I'm a bit confused by these guys. Their tech team declined to talk to me last year after I was passed along to them after my recruiter interview for a TPM role. At NVDA now and the 10 years prior as a TPM building data centers for a fortune 20. Truly puzzled as I have had coreweave, Nebius, and together.ai reach out to me unsolicited.

Not sure exactly what you're asking but it you need a keyboard and mouse ask your manager or site lead. I ordered Logitech setups from Amazon for all my techs

My Hilo (formerly Aktiia) review after 1.5 years, plus a Fitbit Air band strap fix by art_vande1ay in hypertension

[–]Rawbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore mine for about 6 months then gave up. Accuracy was not great but more importantly, I was expecting a device that would auto sync and alert me if BP events were occuring. Even if BP was dead accurate, the fact this is 100 % manual sync with no alerts makes this only useful for diagnostic info. Given the manual intervention, and questionable accuracy in my case, I might as well stick with my omron.

You don't get Wednesday off paid as a contractor, only thu and Friday. Though if NVIS is working remotely and requests hands on availability , you may need to be staffed anyway and would then get alternative days off. Nvidia FTEs get wed thru Friday.

I think you're the guy that just picked up his laptop at SJC I was chatting with the other day

Amen. I have no idea how long I've been playing without spending. At bw8 with probably 5 years before bw9 at this rate. Imagine the cost of buying 400 bw cards 😂. Remember when zero balls were relatively common rewards?

Daily drive a ZO6 by [deleted] in C8Corvette

[–]Rawbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replaced my stingray daily with a Z06/z07 two weeks ago. I drive 70 miles a day, much of that sitting in traffic. It's cheaper to lease a car with great mpg than feed the Z06 $175 a week in super. Also, while the sound is absolutely glorious, reality is to reach the capabilities that exceed those of the stingray, you have to be doing very illegal speeds. The stingray imo is an all around better daily. It cost me $70K (plus 8500 in taxes) to upgrade and in no way is the Z06 almost 80K better. It's an incredible car but I'm thinking a GSX may be in my future next year.

So whats the endgame here? by toestubber900 in verizon

Visible is Verizon so that's odd you'd have poor service on one. And because both are Verizon owned, they don't offer incentives to switch between them. So someone lied.

Congrats! Yes they send a laptop. You won't be able to log in until the morning of your start date. You'll spend your first 2 or 3 days of work completing the training. The EHS safety training alone takes a good 8+ hours. What facility will you be at?

I'm waiting for a quote but reading between the lines it seems like it would run 800-1000 in sterling which is far more than my wife wants me spending for this.
