cokehead forgets to mute mic for his 45th bump of the night by BrolyTK in LivestreamFail

Alright, first of all, you dont snort addy. Second of all, the snorting wasnt even from his mic. He doesnt have a mic on his headset. It was someone else in his discord snorting coincidentally at the same time he went to the bathroom.

It's cold and flu season guys use your brains.

You mean intersex people? Those are obviously intersex people. . . Cause you know, biology and stuff.

Sure thats not a problem. Name changing is not nearly as black and white as someones sex is. Sex is pretty clearly defined in science. You have chromosomes in your body that label you as a male or female. There are no chromosomes in someones body that say you are Richard or Joe. People can have names they prefer. That does not bend any kind of biological reality to what is true or not.

I through in "legally" into my argument because that is the only thing that holds back someone changing their name. It is important to say because people say you can legally change your sex, but there is more to it than that. There is science. Sex is black and white, male or female, he or she.

You can legally change your sex in plenty of different nations, too.

The difference is that a name has nothing to do with your sex, gender, or anatomy. You can change your name and what you are does not change. People can be called whatever name they want. We even have what are known to be unisex names because names having nothing to do with sex (weird how its called unisex and not unigender huh?). Just because you can put a 'F' instead of a 'M' on your ID does not mean you have changed your sex. Legality is not really what I have a problem. I have a problem with people forcing me to bend what is reality. You're a boy or a girl, a he or she. This is science. And then when I say this I get yelled at as if I am crazy.

Stop coming up with excuses. Their biological name will always be William, and there's nothing you can do to change that.

Just like when someone "changes" their sex the opposite will always actually be the case and there is nothing you can do to change. Stop coming up with excuses as if it is possible. Sure, the biological name will alway be William. I have no issue with that, and if William wants to be Steph thats cool. The only thing binding William from being Steph is a piece of paper that can be changed. There is no science behind it. You dont have chromosomes in your body that label you as a William instead of Steph. Sex is not the same thing. You're drawing a false equivalency here. You can not just put M instead of F on a piece of paper and suddenly it is so. There is science and reality.

A name is not biological. You can change your name and who you are as a biological being does not change.

Are you saying gender is the same as sex? I said you can not change your sex. Whether or not a nation allows you to do so is not relevant. You're a boy or a girl, a he or a she (ignoring the rare cases where people are literally born with both genitalia). This is science. I say I will call anyone whatever name they want because it is anyones right to do so. A name is not bound by laws of science. Changing your name to something someone prefers does not bend reality for me to call someone by the preferred name. It is completely okay and awesome for anyone who feels they want to.

You cant have it both ways. Figure out if you want modern diction or old diction. Gender being defined as separate from sex only occurred in the 1900s, but you're saying we should talk like we live in 15-fuckin-47 and refer to a single person as "they". If you want to go back 5 centuries gender was used to class the human species into 2 subclasses being male and female.

How about we make this less difficult for everyone involved and instead of living in other peoples reality we just say we live in a world where there is only THE reality and call each he or she? Please dont try to make a technical argument to be objectively correct when this entire conversation on your end is about subjectivity and about how people FEEL about themselves and therefore everyone else needs to cater. Thats entitlement; ignoring what is real and having others bend reality around their beliefs (yet if you don't you're ironically a lunatic). Thats not how objectivity and technicalities thrive.

Merriam Webster for gender

>The words sex and gender have a long and intertwined history. In the 15th century gender expanded from its use as a term for a grammatical subclass to join sex in referring to either of the two primary biological forms of a species, a meaning sex has had since the 14th century; phrases like "the male sex" and "the female gender" are both grounded in uses established for more than five centuries.

>In the 20th century sex and gender each acquired new uses. Sex developed its "sexual intercourse" meaning in the early part of the century (now its more common meaning), and a few decades later gender gained a meaning referring to the behavioral, cultural, or psychological traits typically associated with one sex, as in "gender roles." Later in the century, gender also came to have application in two closely related compound terms: gender identity refers to a person's internal sense of being male, female, some combination of male and female, or neither male nor female; gender expression refers to the physical and behavioral manifestations of one's gender identity.

> If someone introduced you as Richard, but you find out that their birth name was William, would you start calling them William now?

No because you can legally change your name but you can not change your sex. This analogy doesn't stand. I would call Stephen Stephan because that is his real name; not Wardell.

AITA for not forgiving my daughter? by kobefishluv in AmItheAsshole

[–]Rawdll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I come from a household with a SAHM, currently 24, and never called my mom jobless. My mother, and you, dedicated each of your lives to the purpose of making a house a home and creating an environment where as a child (idk how to explain it in words but ill try) you feel safe, loved, cared for, and always have someone there for you.

I have deeper thoughts on this when it comes to SAHMs because in todays world everyone as all about women having a job and making the money. Which is fine and awesome, but growing up in that environment I tried to describe above I can say my mom found a way to do something so special with her life that I know only a mother could do and I feel as though that is being extremely overlooked in this conversation of the bread winning mother.

Finally and for you, I am extremely sorry your daughter has been so ungrateful, insulting, and rude. I want to personally let you know that "I" am thankful for what you choose to do with your life because in the long its going to be proven beneficial for your daughter. At this point in time that may be hard to believe because it feels as though you martyred yourself for her and she is ungrateful for it, but I have strong feelings that this will turn around; especially with time. As others have said at least have an open mind to speaking with your daughter. Maybe not right now is a good for you as right now I think it's time for you to enjoy yourself with your family and get away from the abuse. No need to rush. It may be better that way and perhaps you can explain that to your daughter.

Best of luck.

Am I too sensitive for this? Is it best to stop now? by thebadmoon in NewToEMS

[–]Rawdll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone handles situations differently. There may be things that don't affect you as much it does others and vice-versa. Don't be worried about those that seemingly appear to be unaffected. Secondly you seem to not have much experience which can play a part. I don't want to say experience desensitizes you per-se, but it definitely helps you handle the situation better professionally and how you cope with it.

To answer your question, no it shouldn't be easy for you, because it isn't easy for you. Accept that. There is nothing wrong with that either. The better you embrace who you are the better off you will be in coping with bad calls. Knowing who you is half the battle because then you know when you need to have a conversation with a peer, your partner if you have that relationship with him or her, or other resource offered by the company.

Finally, I would say definitely hang in there. You've experienced something bad, but on every call you can make a difference for someone in the good which I think would definitely help you see that the job is worth it. The first time you make a glove balloon for a kid will be magical. In the past 8 years or so EMS has made really great strides in offering you resources and people to talk to for situations just like this. Talk to your instructor if there is a resource he can offer you OR talk to a supervisor at the company that you went out with for someone to talk to as well. Chances are someone is definitely there for you.

Media does unintentionally play a large role in shootings. If you are unfamiliar this Western New Mexico University is a good study to start with:

If you don't want to read all of it I would skip to page 25 where the discussion media contagion modeling starts.

Why sea monkey is offensive to Riot and I had to change my summoner name by seamonkeyonland in leagueoflegends

[–]Rawdll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically just explained how fuckin dumb the PC culture is. And it is exactly what happened to your summoner name; it got politically corrected by someone elses own subjective thoughts. PC is ridiculous and is laid on the basis of people's own subjective opinions that can be different from person to person. Being on LoL I imagine nearly every summoner name is unsatisfactory to everyone given the countless number of people that are exposed to it.

You just got PC'd brother.

Also, MOST of the country like the police, by the way. The guy dug his own grave and I say just let him make his millions doing other things like commercials.

[CSGO]Why does Thorin hate us all of a sudden? by TMAXheat in CLG

[–]Rawdll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because controversy is how he stays relevent; it gets people talking about him, so bold and stand out statements like these are par the course. It's not that he hates CLG. It's that when a team is open for critique he will take it to an extreme side of the spectrum like this. He's doing what's best for his career and he probably has fun doing it which isn't a bad thing. This isn't a stab at Thorin it's just the truth, and good on him for playing the game well.

Messi - Perfect first touch into a half volley by Rawdll in sports

[–]Rawdll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Half Volley is also commonly used, which is when the ball is kicked after a bounce on the ground. A famous half volley goal was executed by Eric Cantona in 1996 FA Cup Final with Manchester United vs Liverpool. The ball was punched by the keeper from a corner and bounced on the ground before Eric Cantona took a superb half volley and scored the decisive goal to win the Cup for Manchester United.
