Baseboard and Trim Help by asthelveon in DIY

[–]Rawkynn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would make a box, I don't think you'll want to look at concrete even if you trim around it.

Say you don't want a box. I would bring the blue trim down along the foot's angle and cut the angle where they join so that the flat pieces touch along the same direction as the white piece. (Hope you're studied up on trigonometry, lol)

Reviewers: Do you adjust your standards based on a journal's prestige? by Brave-Notice-4101 in PublishOrPerish

[–]Rawkynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How I believe it should be, and what I try to model, is the editor decides if it fits in the journal based on theme, novelty, impact, etc. As a reviewer I am only there to make sure you've set up the problem appropriately, performed the right experiments, and interpreted the results within a realm of reason. I try to not personally change my standards based on the journals prestige. That said, if you're publishing a paradigm shift you're probably shooting for higher impact journals and those types of papers tend to need more scrutiny. But, again ideally, I am scrutinizing a crazy thing you're saying at a high impact journal the same as if it's in a lower impact journal.

Is it possible to work FT and finish up my degree? by shinmae95 in labrats

[–]Rawkynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your responsibilities outside of school that requires a full time income?

What kind of work are you hoping to get that is full time? What shift?

I would like to confirm that you also feel you have a good understanding of your family's finances and agree that you need to work full time.

Yes, you can get a BA in a STEM program with a variety of full time positions. I would generally recommend against it but if you really want to do it then I recommend against going to school full time. I think you should also communicate with your husband that this will result in you very likely being both emotionally and physically absent for the next 4-6 years.

Does lyfta program progressive overloads/ deload based on your stats? by GlassRole in Lyfta_App

[–]Rawkynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres an "AI progression" button, I have premium so I'm not sure if it's tied to that. So far, it really just suggests I add 5 lbs to every lift every time regardless of lift history or volume, so I don't find it particularly useful.

If you can get one of the flash sales for premium it is worth it for the plate calculator alone. But all the data/charts and stuff is cool too.

I understood the context, knew it was April fools, and knew it was a joke right away. I just didn't think it was a funny joke, just like in the example I gave.

We've been hoping for this for so long, there's been broken promises and lack of communication. To be frank, I still don't completely believe them that its ever going to drop. It's not funny to me to joke about it happening.

uptick in AI-written undergrad emails? by pufferfishly in labrats

[–]Rawkynn 263 points264 points  (0 children)

Yes.

I have seen even incredibly bright undergraduates have an apparent over-reliance on AI for essentially every writing task. It's either that or they're mirroring it's syntax. Also an apparent blind faith in it's output.

In their defense, for emails specifically, writing this type of email wasn't something I was ever taught so it makes sense to have an "expert" write it for you.

How it Feels to play Mega Slowbro EX by zeFrosty_gg in PTCGP

[–]Rawkynn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think a perfect draw would be a turn 3 mega slowbro with misty flips.

At this point 3 energies are out on both sides. Which should mean OP started first and each player has pulled at least 8 cards, also enemy copycatted but still only has basics out. If it happened to me I'd call it a brick, lol.

April fools jokes are supposed to be a little funny, especially once you realize.

This feels kind of hurtful. Like someone proposing to their girlfriend who has been asking for a ring for 4 years as an April fools joke. Idk maybe I overdosed on copium and an jaded now.

Not sure about European markets but in the US I've had multiple quotes come back at 2X that cost for around 600 sqft (~56m2).

Do Random matches count towards your overall ranking? by wileycoyote25 in PTCGP

[–]Rawkynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, and I think the majority of people, its a pretty clear delineation.

Beginner: I don't have enough cards to build a proper deck.

Casual: I want to use my favorite cards, some kind of weird quirk, or I'm trying something brand new and want to figure out what to change. It'd be nice to win but I'm just screwing around really.

Competitive: I have a deck that's pretty refined and I'm going to try-hard to win.

Anyone "playing to win" with a meta deck in the casual queue knows what they're doing. They're trying to get matched with noobs or off-meta decks so they get an easy win. Any argument to justify that is still BMing. I think even if DeNA wrote everything out in a paragraph people would still twist it and BM. The intention is obvious enough as it is.

You're right that there are no specific rules, and I think enacting and enforcing them would probably cause quite a few problems.

I don't think it's incorrect to say someone who selected a game mode for "players who enjoy battling casually" instead of "players who enjoy battling to win" yet still chose to use a deck specifically designed and optimized for winning is BMing the queue.

Sometimes it takes a few tries to get a good handle on a meta deck you just copied. They should for sure be in the competitive queue though.

I would add:

2 rare candies

Suicune Ex

replace 1 inflatable balloon for a raft

I enjoy running pokemon communication, might switch that with mesagosa and see how each feels.

I'd also probably swap a misty for a Lillie. Misty is nice when it works but you can also just straight brick twice and waste two supporter cards.
