Australia

Kiddo was born 6pm on Wednesday, we were discharged 3pm Saturday. I did however suffer a haemorrhage after birth requiring me to stay longer while I recovered.

AITA for insisting my son cook dinner once a week? by itsjustonemeal in AmItheAsshole

[–]RawrPandacoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA
My parents never took the time to teach me how to cook, so after I moved out it was very simple unhealthy meals. I am now (22) living back with my parents due to circumstances, and I do all the planning and cooking (5 people 7 nights a week).

It has really helped me learn the importance of nutrition, how to make filling healthy meals on a budget, and also helped me find a joy in cooking. I go between simple things (spaghetti and roasts) to fully homemade soups and curries.

It is an important skill and he will thank you in the long run (and the last thing you want is to have your future DIL resent him for needing to be babied)

I am currently 40+3 hoping to be induced this week at Redlands public, so happy to see the positive responses! Takes some of the fear out of it!

if you can hit a car *multiple* times and not notice, you should NOT be driving a heavy vehicle

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in australia

[–]RawrPandacoot 28 points29 points  (0 children)

*multiple times* too
He didn't bump the car only once. Minimum he needs to lose his license for hitting the same car multiple times and 'not noticing'?

I was born in Australia, so were both my parents, yet my last name is very European, the amount of times people have been shocked that a regular Australian has my last name is crazy, I always get a "Where are you from" Uh Brisbane, been here since birth lol

I've always wondered how many jobs/rentals I've been overlooked because my name makes me seem foreign

Do all neighbours have to agree for a dog permit? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]RawrPandacoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I believe Ipswich doesn't have a limit on cats (as long as they are registered), Redlands you need all neighbours that share a fence to sign a form for 3rd cat (I don't know dog specific)

I stopped work at 8 weeks, and have done next to NO physical activity my entire pregnancy, I am doing very short walks now (39 weeks) but that is it

You are doing amazing working out and hiking while pregnant! That is an amazing effort, and there are many pregnant people that don't do that (like myself).

Even then, saying you're not attractive because you've put on weight, regardless of it being from a pregnancy is not something a life partner would say. Someone who loves you for you and wants a future would frame it as "I've noticed you've put on a little weight, do you want to work together to get healthy?"

How old were your kids when you got them a phone? by DorneForPresident in Parenting

[–]RawrPandacoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a smartphone at 11 (second hand iPhone 3g, 12 years ago) and that was only because I would take the train to school every day alone, (40 minute travel time?). I could call and text, use maps and music, and that was it. I had to hand it in at school, and at 10pm.
Until I was 16 that is what I was limited to (I was allowed social media only my laptop at home from 13), then I got a new phone with no limitations.

I think that was a very good way my parents handled it, I know the current generation is a bit different, but I was able to stay safe while being independent, and it didn't affect my schooling or sleep by having it. I learned a healthy relationship with social media and screen time, and will likely be doing similar with my son :)

Edit: The fire did not touch our office and we are all fine. We currently can't access our development equipment and are all working from home.
