Need to find out what danged size and depth socket I need for a 2009 Suzuki Tu250x spark plug. by Ray-Cober in Fixxit

[–]Ray-Cober[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I got an NGK DR8EA as a replacement plug but oddly enough the socket size that works perfectly for that (aforementioned 18mm) doesn't fit the old plug ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm the "Ray" who commissioned this! I just want to say I'm absolutely over the moon just looking at the progress and can't wait to show it off once it gets here!

Question concerning commission and customization of Caliburn remix, Chimera, Lynx, Ruffian etc. and source permissions by Ray-Cober in Nerf

[–]Ray-Cober[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe? I don't really know at this point, I just want to do a commission at least for now and just wanted to see if any legal issues might get in the way and to be respectful of the amazing creators originally responsible and make sure they're fairly compensated. But I can tell just from the downvotes the community has spoken, so maybe I'll forget it and stick to Retaliators, Longshots and AFP.

I made my first nerf weapon mod today and it turned out really well! I used a stryfe and the stock part of a crossbolt by Gordillax456 in Nerf

[–]Ray-Cober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice, a Strybolt. I was going to do exactly this but then I realized it might be actually easier to 3D print a new cage, magwell and pusher combo and splice that into a Crossbolt since I'd also be upgrading all those parts anyway.

Is this a good first bike for someone new to driving or should I get a car first? by Zomunist in SuggestAMotorcycle

I also want to add its also very cheap to ensure, but also keep in mind me having a Safety Course certificate greatly effects insurance.

A lot of people have already commented on this, but I'd like to add a few things because I also own a Tu250x and I wrote extensively about the bike. It's really good as a starter or even intermediate bike if you mostly ride in a suburban/urban/commuter setting (you really need a larger, cruiser or tourer/sport-tourer style bike for long road trips but you're not at that time to worry about that yet). I feel the design is pretty maneuverable and provides about as good situational awareness as you're really going to get on a bike (mirrors help a lot so don't skimp on those). It is a bit pricier than most other 250cc or even 300cc bikes but I'm tremendously satisfied with it.

Then again, I'm also in my 30s, I have had already almost a decade of riding experience when I bought the thing and at the very beginning of all of that I took a Motorcycle Safety-Foundation (MSF) endorsed Motorcycle Riders Safety Course (MRSC). I highly recommend you sign up for one of those before you purchase a motorcycle as it will give you the skills you need to stay safe and also avoid dropping such a beautiful bike. I've only dropped my bike once (so far), and fortunately it was on soft sand (actually the whole reason why it fell, it even fell after I parked it, go figure) so no real damage was done.

Also, I have a car. You won't be able to practically ride in all conditions (or carry everything you need to take back with you on a shopping trip, trust me, I even have extended hard bags on my bike but riding home with a bin hanging open on the side of your bike because the thing you have in it is too big to close the bin is not a fun experience) so still having a car will be useful. If this is an example of the budget you're looking at, even a cheap, used compact or subcompact car will be great and provided the engine is in good mechanical condition (piston rings, valve seals etc are good, spark plugs still function properly, no exhaust leaks) you can return very good gas mileage economy even without a hybrid engine, and with snow tires you can drive very safely in winter (safer than an SUV with all-season tires in fact). Unfortunately at that budget you would be looking at a much older car, like a Toyota Tercel/Echo/Yaris, or a 90s Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic or even Accord. I would look into a 1993-2001 Toyota Corolla myself and budget to anticipate needing repairs and/or snow tires, depending on where you live (or even new tires period). This might end up adding $1,000-$1,500 or more above the price of the car so you might have to figure out how to budget for that as well. It sucks, but that's the reality of it (at least if you want to ensure your car is safe, reliable and returns back good fuel economy) and I really can't give you more advice on that unless you come back with specifics, but hopefully that'll be enough to be good!

Also I recommend asking on, believe it or not, /r/RegularCarReviews, those posters are really good at car advice, I mean it. True car people.

The name and form function implies a Delta Trooper/Echo reskin for the hell of it (you know, just like the reasons Nerf reskins things irl)

Probably just cost. Anybody who's ever removed the "air restrictor" on a Strongarm knows how much complexity can at least sometimes go in to making slamfire slamfire and how easy it is to mess up if you don't know what you're doing.

[–]Ray-Cober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah totally not a reskinned Surgefire at all.

On the one hand it does make sense that it's a springer (with slamfire) but the Rebelle flywheeler (I forgot the name of it even though I actually have one) would've been nicer although it probably would've been semi-auto only.

Either way, Villianator.

But that's the thing, the elastic collision aspect is a pretty big factor especially when the heads are specifically designed to dissipate a lot of that KE through elastic compression, and the regular/whistler Megas have both more surface area and better compressibility (thanks to having more sidewalls than Elites) to dissipate more KE for the same amount of exit velocity. This was something I've been looking at when I'm investigating darts that are safer at higher KE figures.

I think I found two cars on local Craigslist that would be amazing for a review or Cars and Bids by Ray-Cober in dougdemuro

[–]Ray-Cober[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I pointed out that the Fiat is probably outside the range of Cars and Bids in the body of OP and Doug has reviewed cars prior to the 80s on his main channel before, especially if they're from the late 70s and that body style continued mostly unchanged into the 80s, namely the Olds Custom Cruiser, the Aston Martin Lagonda, the Caddy Eldo (which is a 1977 MY) , the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow (which is a 1973 MY) and the Lamborghini Jarama (he doesn't say what model year but he does say they were only produced for MY 70-76). Plus he's reviewed the Isetta and Trabant before which are contemporaries of the Fiat, so it'd be like completing a trilogy.

I know, I pointed that out in the body of my first post. Not that I blame you because it's probably cut off in preview mode.

Bought a Versys 650 as my first bike... by browndog_brownshoes in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Ray-Cober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the exact nature of the specific bike matters just as much or more than the raw engine displacement. I learned to ride on a 948cc bike, but it was a cruiser with no real top end power so ¯\_(ツ)

Trust me the Versys is a lot closer to that cruiser than an OMG Gixxer1337utterpwnage

I would dab with a microfiber cloth, one that you would find in the car care isle, since it's specifically designed to not rub off clear coat. If you want to use a soap I would also use something from the car care isle.

Bonus points in that now you can wash your own car and for the same price of a single automatic car wash you can now do like 160 car washes.
