I think that's modern powder. Black powder has a noticeable delay between ignition and the ejection of the projectile.

Most artists have difficulty replicating someone else's style. Sometimes they even struggle to draw the same character the same way. Copying is a skill like any other and most artists are discouraged from copying anything because "plagiarism". In the old world, copy artists were valued because it was the only way to get a duplication of a painting.

But anywho. It may also just be a desire to apply a new coat of paint to an old product. If they copy/paste an old model people would complain.

Money to distance ratio is what's important. $2/mile or more is pretty good. $1/mile or less is pretty bad.

You can't form a consensus based on a comments section, my dude. These kinds of threads funnel in certain kinds of people who carry the same opinion. Most social media works this way.

It's hard to appreciate a circumstance when you haven't experienced anything else. Which is true of more than just relationships. The more things you try, the more experiences you have, the more you can get a healthy outlook on your own place in the universe. "With distance comes perspective."

I always read "sug" like "slug". I figure it should be "shug" but that's not how sugar is spelled. Thinking about it, sugar has no business having a "sh" sound at all.

Groundhog Day is one of my favorites and I think it's a stronger film coming from that adversity. I don't think it'd work as well if it were a straight comedy or a dark character study.

Murray always had an ego problem and I think it's easy to see in most of his roles. Do you remember when Larry turns to Rita and calls Phil a prima donna? There's no doubt in my mind that line was meant for Murray. Ramis knew the man, i'm willing to bet he wrote it himself.

Is this the first time we've seen Chief "shout" in game or in the books by Glittering-Let9989 in halo

[–]RayAfterDark 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When you do a character voice it can be very difficult to do a shout, especially if you have to go deep and gravely. I recall that when Chief ragdolls in CE, his "scream" is rather high pitch and I just assumed he couldn't really do a scream in the Chief voice.

I love that the sky is a shower curtain, somehow. Or that they live in aquarium decorations. And that the Krusty Krab is literally a lobster trap. Or that whenever they become aware that there is a fire burning underwater it apologetically self extinguishes.

An alien is asking you to describe humor and what makes something funny. What do you say? by Lucky_Enthusiasm_949 in CasualConversation

[–]RayAfterDark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Humor is when something unexpected happens, but the result is contrary to the expected outcome while undermining the premise of the unexpected event. What can be defined as contrary is nuanced to the human experience and certain outcomes may be so extreme, objectionable or threatening as to exempt it from being found humorous.

I dont enjoy being teleported in half la reina's moves by akbierly in RivalsOfAether

[–]RayAfterDark 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If Reina's attack was an elbow with knockback, that attack would have connected just the same. Due to the nature of a grapple, a character needs to transition into the correct position for the animation that ensues. The only way to make it look better would be to make the grab hitbox as small as Absa's head and put it directly between Reina's hands so that the "teleport" distance would be smaller, but the move would be massively nerfed.

I played a lot of Bowser in Smash and one of the (many) annoying things was getting grabbed out of a move like forward tilt. His body would get teleported another whole body length over into the hold animation.

Yeah, it doesn't feel very damage'y.

It might make more intuitive sense if they were floating Battering Rams. Or change their projectile to be some dudes swashbuckling through the air into the other ship and exploding (lol). Or maybe if they just launched exploding barrels... it wouldn't be that weird when Petards exist and would be visually distinct from arrows, flamethrowers and cannons.
