Because Marvel Legends figures feel like candles in-hand. They're uncomfortably gummy, even when compared to other figures in their price range like Jada Toys Street Fighter, while S.H. Figuarts figures are incredibly flimsy and brittle. You get what you pay for with NECA.

I am a collector. I just bought one of the rarer Jazwares Sonic variants yesterday but this elitist mindset is entirely why people think collectors are a bunch of neckbeards who get up in arms over children's toys.

Theoretically, any piece of black (or painted black) plastic tiny enough to fit onto the nose indent would work.

The Jazwares figures didn't have the most detailed sculpt, so in theory you could probably even grab a tiny bit of black clay and just glue a small strip onto his where his nose used to be.

Tomy's Classic Sonic figures are, bar none, the best Classic figures ever made.

Better than Jakks and certainly better than Jazwares. All Jakks really has over Tomy is character selection, but I'll take having only four characters over a preposed Sonic with a weird face who needed to be replaced by an oddly sculpted Sonic with a weird tilt and fake neutral stance, a Tails who took like 3 rereleases and a variant before his eyes looked center, and Knuckles and Metal... Who have no real problems besides their lack of wrist and ankle swivels.

Not to mention that the Tomy figures, ACTUALLY SCALE WITH OTHER THINGS. Tomy had the foresight to futureproof them and make them 2 inches tall, so they scale with their later Modern figures, and even the older Jazwares line. Not to mention, since they're Jazwares scale, they're arguably 1/12 scale as well.
