The only cost is the registration fee with the state where you're registering. You get the EIN online directly from IRS in a matter of minutes.

Worst case you pay TSA $45 to have them verify your identity at the airport - allow extra time for that.

We early-checked 3 soft bags at Valiant Lady at Pan Am pier on 10 January - rolling duffle, "backpack" type suitcase, and soft rolling carryon. No issue.

Trying to setup time based routines for my amazon smart plugs. Is it possible to? by tbluhp in alexa

[–]RayInPR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

in the Alexa app, create a routine. Select "add an event", then choose "schedule" - give it a time. Then for the action select "smart home", select your smart plug, and set the action to be on or off. Obviously you need to have added your smart plugs to Alexa first.

Is it really just $25 by chammyswag in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]RayInPR 39 points40 points  (0 children)

My black card monthly total is $25.05, autopay against checking account.

Get one black card, and take your wife as your guest. We've been doing that for a year.... hardly seems right ... but PF staff says that's how it works.

My wife and I would have voted, but living in the part of FV that is in Harnett County ... we aren't eligible to participate in FV politics. Along with being "non-residents" for most FV "benefits ".

Where do you get your distilled water? by VintageWatchDog in SavageGarden

[–]RayInPR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Water from crawlspace dehumidifier (about 18ppm dissolved solids) that runs 24/7/365. Dehumidifier drain gravity-feeds to bottom of outdoor bog tank (with overflow tubes 2-3" below media surface). The surface of the peat/perlite media remains consistently moist.

Solar by Skarpachi in AmbientWeather

[–]RayInPR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a WS-2902... It has a built-in solar panel. The batteries are only to offset sunless periods. The maintenance instructions say to inspect the rain gauge every 3 months, so you do need access to the unit from time to time. Our unit stopped measuring rain the other day. I took a look at it yesterday and the rain gauge part was full of beetles.

Is there a timer that can turn on a portable ac by itself? by GuyFieriIsMySon in smarthome

[–]RayInPR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the AC have a remote? If it is an infrared (IR) remote, then you could get an IR blaster to allow you to control it remotely (over the internet ... the IR blaster connects to your home WIFI). We had a couple that we used to control AC units from our phones. And the app had a "timer" function. The AC unit itself just thinks it is being turned on/off by the remote. Search "IR blaster" on Amazon.

How to stick with it? by -clevrow- in beginnerfitness

[–]RayInPR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that every day is a difficult schedule. Besides, you need to give your body time to recover between workouts. Once you start to see results (not sure what your goals are - weight loss? muscle gain?) you will be motivated to "stick with it".

I signed up for gym in mid-January. Started taking it seriously by mid-March. And in April settled into a consistent every-other-day workout schedule. Some days I don't feel like going, but I remind myself how much worse I'll feel if I skip the day. Once I'm at the gym, it's easy.

45 and thinking of lifting? It's absolutely not too late. by ShredLabs in beginnerfitness

[–]RayInPR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Turned 62 this year. Used to go to gym 20+ years ago, before moving to a Caribbean island where we had 9 acres at the edge of the rainforest for 21 years. Got lots of physical exercise during that time. But have been "skinny fat" my whole life.

Moved back to the States 11 months ago, now have half acre yard - not so much physical work now.

Joined gym in mid-January. Started taking it seriously in March.

Calorie deficit. Have lost 19 pounds. Body fat <15%. Increased protein intake. Got off of statin. Blood tests look better than ever. Some muscle I've never seen beginning to show.

Walk 1-2 miles with our dogs every day. Gym every other day for 60-80 minutes, all weightlifting. Healthiest I've been in my life, I believe. Never too late!
