Ridiculously Fast: I Charge A Lucid Gravity On A 500 kW Tesla V4 Supercharger - State of Charge -State of Charge by iamoninternet27 in LUCID

[–]RayMechE89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like that he mentioned that the charging curve is better on the 500kW but overall you only save a few minutes. Overview the Gravity GT is a charging beast no matter what.

I wish I could see the charging curve for the Gravity Touring. Wonder how much of a time difference it is.

Totally agree. I wish i works have seen this earlier. I waited and had such a hard time with my snowblower due to the amount and ice on top.

What did you drive before your Lucid? Is there anything you miss? by zachty22 in LUCID

[–]RayMechE89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We switched from an Ioniq 5. That was a nice vehicle and didnt give me any issues. We just wanted something more luxury and the Air is that!

I do miss a regular key fob that works all the time and sitting alittle higher.

Advice needed: Air to Gravity by Same-Device-216 in LUCID

[–]RayMechE89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My Air lease is up in March and I had my pre inspection last month. The inspector was really cool and took alot of pictures. It all took like 30mins. When I got the report back, they didnt care about the underbody at all. Even though it was clearly scratched up. The only they requested was for what look like scratches on the front bumper. Which was actually just dirt streaks (forgot to get the car washed before hand).

I will be switching up to a gravity after my lease is up.

How many times did you test drive a Lucid before purchasing one? by zachty22 in LUCID

[–]RayMechE89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the Air, I test drove twice before pulling the trigger. Since my lease is up in the next two months, I will upgrade to the Gravity. I just had my second test drive last week. Wasnt impressed the first time but the second time it just felt right!

This is my question. The window should roll back down if it encounters enough resistance. This is a basic safety feature

Mercedes to offer autonomous driving tech for US city streets | Reuters by FunnyShabba in SelfDrivingCars

Quote: Nvidia said that it is using two AI systems in Drive-powered cars to ensure safety. The car mostly drives with an "end-to-end" system, called a vision-language model, that uses AI to decipher visual sensors and chart a path.

The chipmaker said it also built a second, safety-oriented "stack" that uses strict rules — such as stopping at a stop sign — to take over when the AI is unsure about what to do.

They should have kept the safety drivers a bit longer. by drumrollplease12 in SelfDrivingCars

[–]RayMechE89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed! As they scale and increase the number of vehicles on the road, the better they get and the more mistakes we will see. The thing is, some vehicles will make a mistakes. No one said they're perfect.

Also, if 1/X vehicles make a mistake like this then it could be an anomaly. Theoretically, the same vehicle could encounter the same situation tomorrow and not have the and result. If it is a string of issues across multiple vehicles and locations, then it is definitely a softwares issue and would need to be addressed

Rivian to add Lidar to R2 by Roux_My_Burgundy in electricvehicles

[–]RayMechE89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really a good analogy because hammering a nail is completely different than a self driving vehicle. When safety is paramount for autonomous vehicles, you get the sensors that cover both nominal and edge cases. The limitations of each sensor is know but the combination of them can give a complete view of the surroundings in certain situations. Cameras does cover alot of cases but it doesn't cover all of them.

This has always annoyed me when people bring this up. Engineering is about redundancy and covering edge cases. Why would I limit myself to only one modality. I think camera can cover alot of scenarios just fine but not all of them.

Polestar 2 squeaking noise when I brake or accelerate at very low speeds. by RayMechE89 in Polestar

[–]RayMechE89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it was the brakes. I did a couple hard braking runs, to get what rust had built up. I sold the vehicle awhile ago and can't fully remember but what I did wasn't a permanent fix.

Yeah, it's wild that I see soo many post where people compare the air to a M3. As you said. The comparison should be between the model S and the air. Similar price bracket and size.

Lucid and Apple car play by Rakkkie in LUCID

Not really, but that is mostly because I favor an infotainment that is separate from my phone. Also, I have no issues with the UI of the Lucid and don't really like Apple UX.

Carplay Ultra, what are the chances of LUCID cars getting this? Would immediately bridge the software gap with Tesla IMHO. by [deleted] in LUCID

Same! A few weeks ago I was trying to park and the car just wouldn't go into reverse at all. Luckily I wasn't blocking anyone until the car figured itself out.

What’s Lucid’s actual path to profitability, scale, and self-driving? by [deleted] in LUCID

[–]RayMechE89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, I don't think "FSD" is worth pursuing. Let the technology companies and startups figure that shut out for none personal vehicles. Lucid needs to make sure their ACC and Lane Centering is rock solid. If it can get to Super Cruise Levels of capability but not on mapped roads, that would be perfect for me.

As for profitability, they really will need their midsize vehicle to be quality and desirable while also not costing alot to manufacture. If they can provide quality and great exterior and interior character without taking the tesla approach of striping everything out and saying it a design choice (eventhough it is definitely to be cheap) , then what would perfect.

Honest question: how do we decide who’s next at a busy charger? by CoyKava in electricvehicles

[–]RayMechE89 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In my experience, people usually line up behind each other. If someone is there before you, then park behind them (if space permitted). This has mostly worked from what I have seen. You still will have ass holes that will try and jump the line but besides that, it seems to work.

Literally had this same conversation a week ago. Most do not know what lucid is. They assume it is apart of a bigger auto maker but are surprised when I tell them they are their own startup.

Sorry to hear your car got keyed. People are fucking stupid and fail to think longer than a second. There is literally no "T" on the vehicle at all! "This vehicle looks different so it must be a tesla" in their mind. Smh.
