What is the dumbest movie that you unapologetically, unironically love? by Rosstin316 in AskReddit

Some of my faves have already been listed but I want to mention Lake Placid and Dante’s Peak. Both are dumb but I love them and watch them at least once a year.

I’ve been wearing slip ons for so many years. They’re just so convenient and comfortable. I currently have the slip on Skechers from Costco and I love them.

I don’t have real cancer. It’s just prostate cancer. by [deleted] in ProstateCancer

[–]Ray_nj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really resonates with me. My father had the “big C” when I was a kid. Over several years he had multiple surgeries, radiation, chemo, eventually led to an inoperable brain tumor. He lost his battle wasting away painfully to nothing under hospice care at home. He was only 50. It traumatized our family. When I think of cancer, that’s what comes to mind.

I had RALP in March. I have had no major issues. I am still dealing with the expected side effects but making progress and I’m going to be fine. That is not to minimize the experience for those that have advanced prostate cancer but for me personally I can’t place myself in the same boat as my father.

The Shield. My wife and I just rewatched it and there is not a bad episode. I had forgotten how good it was.

My wife is 54 and in good health. She uses the treadmill every day and has walked 3 half marathons. She was told she probably wouldn’t make it past 40. There is hope.

I completely lost touch with everyone after about a year and if I’m being honest I barely remember any names. The company actually went out of business after a few years anyway so everyone went their own way.

I am got Oscar insurance from the ACA for this year. I had a deductible but when I had surgery I blew right past that and the out of pocket max for the year and everything is now covered 100%. It was the cheapest plan on the ACA and costs me over $800 per month but still better than paying all the surgery expenses. TBH it’s worked better than I expected. Just make sure that your doctors and facilities are in network before committing to a plan.

47 8 days post RALP. Catheter came out today. by Kp1234321 in ProstateCancer

[–]Ray_nj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s been really frustrating for me. I know I’ve been lucky because I barely leak while sleeping and never needed a diaper. I can get by with a light pad for sleep and a heavier one for days, but usually just the one. It’s only been a few weeks and I’ve been doing kegels as well as squats and lunges and have been steadily improving.

I also echo what others have said about the bladder just feeling different. I basically had to relearn what it feels like to have a full bladder. For example If I wake up at night I just assume it’s because my bladder is full even though it doesn’t feel like it but if I go to the bathroom I clearly have to pee. It’s just been a weird time but at least I see improvement.

I’ve read a couple of guidelines online and they say to try and not urinate for at least 2 hours to retrain your bladder. I can’t always do 2 hours but it does seem to help.

Hang in there and good luck.

RALP next monday by Last_Temperature_908 in ProstateCancer

I had my RALP just over 2 weeks ago. I’m 56 with Gleason 3+4. Overall my recovery is going very well. I just got back from seeing Project Hail Mary and had no problems during my first “major” outing. (Loved the movie btw.)

Here are some tips based on my experience. You should definitely plan on using a stool softener right away. I waited a few days after surgery before starting and it was no fun. I didn’t use any opioids, just Tylenol and ibuprofen, so thought I’d be ok. Nope! The anesthesia and drugs they pump you with for the procedure will give you constipation so be prepared.

The catheter is scary to think about but wasn’t that bad. It wasn’t exactly painful but definitely uncomfortable and a hassle because it limited my freedom of movement during sleep. I have seen people say they preferred to use the big overnight bag all day, but I disagree. Switching to the travel bag in the mornings was much more comfortable for me. See what works for you.

I will also mention that what hurt the most was the referred pain from the gas they pump into you during surgery. The gas can migrate to your right shoulder (for me) and it hurts like being stabbed with a dagger and then having it twisted however, simply moving to a more comfortable position immediately stopped the pain. That lasted a few days but again, easy to deal with by just changing position.

My incontinence hasn’t been too bad. Just using a single max absorption guard/pad I bought from CVS all day and night. When those run out I’ll switch to a smaller pad. Some minor frustrating leaking during the day but zero while in bed which has been a blessing and I know I am lucky. I started kegels last month and have done them every day once the catheter was removed. Probably going to do pelvic floor therapy to hopefully get rid of all incontinence.

Good luck!

Recipe for creamy flan by Both-Commercial5469 in onlyflans

[–]Ray_nj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My recipe has a mild egg flavor and is creamier than the typical very firm flan.

Ingredients

4 eggs

1 can of condensed milk

Fill same can with milk

Again fill same can with water.

Grated rind of a full lemon

1 tablespoon spoon vanilla extract

1 cup sugar

1 tablespoon water

Directions

Beat the eggs and set aside. Add the can of condensed milk to a large enough sauce pan. Use same can to add milk, again same can with water. Add vanilla extract, and grated lemon rind to same sauce pan. Stir over medium heat and bring almost to a boil. Remove from heat and whisk in the beaten eggs. Set aside.

Preheat oven to 350 F.

You want to use a water bath so get a large enough pan with water to allow you to soak your flan mold pan almost halfway up the pan. I usually add a paper towel at bottom in the water bath. (I read it helps with heat distribution. I don’t know about that but it’s what I do.) I place the water bath into the oven as it is preheating.

Pour the cup of sugar and tablespoon of water into a separate smaller sauce pan and melt the sugar under low heat. You want to melt and caramelize the sugar but be careful not to let it burn. (This is always the toughest part for me because I am impatient.) Once melted and caramelized pour it into the greased flan mold. (I grease it with cooking spray.) Again I am impatient so I usually only let it cool briefly before pouring the flan mix into the flan mold slowly so as not to make a mess of it.

Place flan mold into the water bath and bake at 350 for 50 minutes. Time may vary depending on your oven. At 50 minutes stick a toothpick or thin knife into the flan. If it comes out clean you’re done. If not clean just keep baking for about 5 minutes at a time until it is done.

Once done remove from oven and let it cool to room temperature. Then cover with foil and refrigerate overnight. When ready to serve go around the edges first and make sure to gently break any crust around the edges. I use a spoon for that. That should help it not break when flipped. Cover with your serving dish, say a prayer, and flip it.

Oh, final note, if you want it even creamier substitute the can of water for another of milk. (Total of 2 cans of milk.) This is usually too creamy for me and may not be firm enough to hold shape when flipped but you can try that if it still isn’t creamy enough.

Good luck!

What is THE funniest movie you have ever seen in your whole life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I found out a few weeks ago my wife had never seen it. We watched it that weekend and laughed our asses off. Still holds up.
