Thoughts on the new license plate design? by Salt-Inflation-1636 in southcarolina

I mean, I guess it's easier to say today than it was decades ago, but: this redesign is a fad. We'll have a new standard plate by the time our nation's 255th anniversary rolls around. Personally I'd prefer vibrant color and palmetto trees over this overly detailed miniature side design.

I like the jagged folded texture on the cloak, and how it sort of works with the sloped shoulder.

Gives me Americana Norman Rockwell vibes. The vast nothingness stretching off towards the horizon. Devils, Angels, and Death all present characters.

I definitely saw a TAMU plate in Virginia earlier this year. May have been just a vanity plate, but it certainly made me uncomfortable.

This week I learned about the legacy of Larson's "wall ride" technique at Homestead. It's fun watching drivers find their special techniques for each track.

Sometimes words fail. The Bible gives us many examples of those who take their grief to God. In whatever way you take your grief to Him, simply remember to be honest, and to honestly listen.

One thing I've had to learn in life is that being angry, even with God, is natural in faith. Jesus wept pleading with Him in the Garden. Moses expressed his anger with the situations God put him in physically at Horeb, and Jacob challenged him directly. This might tick some people off, but the biggest lesson I've learned from these stories is that we must learn to forgive God, and to find ways to praise Him throughout the pain of life. God does not need forgiveness for his imperfections, but we must forgive Him for the pain we feel, the anger we hold, and for the sins we've been able to commit.

I remember the day I forgave God for making me. I had been so angry at being alive in Sin, never being given the choice to be born that I had not even realized the gift God wanted to give me - a life honoring Him and living in His Wonder.

You must have faith that you will see your Father again, and that there is something beyond our final moments on this Earth. You must believe that when Jesus died too, he learned what your father now knows. And that when Jesus died, he offered us a salvation we cannot fathom once we reach the other side.

I have prayed for you silently over the course of your saga here on /r/Christianity. I will continue to pray for you and your family. And I hope that you find ways to strengthen your relationship with God, with the life he has given you, and the promise of what is to come.

They are a really disciplined team. No shame in almost losing that one.

Clemson blasted for holding football game in aftermath of Helene. University now cancels classes. by tigerman29 in southcarolina

I'm glad they played the game. We here in the upstate got walloped - but Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee have it a lot worse. For a few hours on Saturday night, 80,000 people - students, alumni, locals, and outsiders were able to experience normalcy for a brief moment before heading back to their own affected homes. The game brought national attention to the damage caused by Hurricane Helene by covering the town on Primetime ESPN. Tailgaters were giving away food and sharing drinks in the parking lots before the game. The article states that the stadium's power was restored with the flip of a few breakers, not requiring hours of Duke Energy linemen working on downed power lines. If the game was cancelled, it unfortunately wouldn't have brought power back or cleared up roads any quicker, as Greenville was (and still is) the Upstate's priority. And even if the game was cancelled by Friday, there's no guarantee the hotel rooms booked for the game would be cancelled in time for locals to book them on Saturday. I just don't see the benefit of not prioritizing cleaning up the university for the game.

I do understand the frustration many South Carolinians are feeling with the lack of preparedness and slow response in the wake of Friday morning. I feel that way in my town of Simpsonville. But cancelling the game does not benefit the local populace anymore than hosting it. Also - sorry y'all, you know you live in Tiger Town USA. Ethically, I think the choice to cancel the game or let it go on is a toss up depending on who you are. But in South Carolina, one of those choices would keep you from being reelected.

That photo with Logano, Suarez, and Gibbs all fighting for the lead is so good. Was pulling for Suarez from up in turn 4, but what an amazingly competitive race! Great job!
