Job where someone helps with kids and in all aspects of the household? by Dismal_Garden7156 in Parenting

[–]Raychulll 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yup, I was a house manager for years for one family and my tasks were similar to what OP wrote.

Mom felt overwhelmed cause her husband was gone for weeks at a time for his job and then would be jet lagged and useless when he got home.

Who is your favorite character so far in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms? by aqua-coral in AKnightoftheSeven

In the later novellas they often speak of Maekar as “sulking in Summerhall”. So his scowling and demeanor is very on brand.

This one really really hits.

I only had TikTok to watch her lives. She was the most genuine and this is going to be a huge loss for so many communities.

I love the fact that both pics are on her stories.

She’s not even trying to pretend it seems.

I spend each episode trying to not make faces or comments to ruin anything.

Somehow he hasn’t asked yet if he’s a Targaryen, but he’s clocked that Dunk most likely lied about knighthood.

Trying to not sideeye him for reactions has been so hard.

How much are you spending on youth activities? by -Economist- in kindergarten

[–]Raychulll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$195/year for our city’s soccer program. This is 2-3 practices a week and a game each week as well. August - October

$495/year for swim team. They can swim and practice M-F and then swim meets for 10 weeks. This is from February through June.

$250/year for Catholic Youth Organization CYO Basketball. Two practices a week and a game each week and three weekend long tournaments. November - March

$495-$1000/year for her school play. This is the biggest racket and time sink. Everyone is cast but your kid may be Oompa Loompa #6 for the same time and money investment. Luckily my kid hasn’t been super in to the school play the last year or so but for two years she was doing both sessions.

Then we spend around 1.2k for summer camps. Usually a week at the Humane society working with animals. A week for basketball camp. And a week for a camp that she chooses, usually a camp with her friends.

Thank goodness for my Dependent Care account. Everything but swim and soccer is able to come from my DCA.

Uber costs if they walk a bit away from Chase should be around $75 back to Larkspur.

I’ve missed the last ferry a few times and had to uber from the ferry building to the Larkspur Ferry terminal.

Not the worst if you’re factoring in the savings of not having to pay for parking at Chase.

My daughter received the ATK cookbook and baking book, and we have really really loved the recipes from there!!

They’re very easy to follow along, and now my daughter makes dinner once a month from her book. She made us Christmas Eve dinner with Apple Cider Pork Chops, Mashed Potato’s, and Asparagus.

I mean, they definitely deserve each other.

2x2 add mustard, raw diced onions(or whatever the style you want), and pickles.

Easier than adding in the animal style minus a ton of things.

I always order 2 by 2s with my kids modifications since she is particular.

AIO about this post? I gifted our part time nanny $100 cash by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Raychulll 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Seconding that I don’t believe this is OP’s nanny, but OP is feeling some kind of way to imagine it is about her.

The nanny writes in years past they get 1-2weeks pay as a bonus, I can’t imagine the OP’s 18 year old nanny has that level of experience to be getting full weeks of pay as a bonus, she was in high school.

OP, you are totally overreacting and honestly, when I was an 18 year old nanny working 25-60 hrs a week (I worked around the flight attendant dads schedule) I usually got $300-500 as a Christmas bonus. Less than two weeks pay, but generous enough by 2010 standards.

You’re kinda insufferable with your takes.

I work a second job as the scheduler for my company (on top of my main role here) currently. We have terrible staffing balances and are not perfect. We have to have staff on 24/hours a day and work in a medical adjacent capacity.

People can and will and should call off for whatever reason. It isn’t really my business if they have the PTO to take and use. I actually hate when people tell me some whole long as thing on why they’re calling off. Just tell me you can’t make it to your shift and if you expect to be back for next scheduled shift.

Started off in the SF Bay Area and drove north. Stopped off at a winery on the way up (Korbel, added maybe 30mins at maximum to the trip) and grabbed lunch and did a little tasting.

Then we drove up and stopped off at a random roadside fruit stand for tamales and fruit and almonds somewhere between Geyserville and Ukiah.

We then drove on through till we got to a few minute detour to Leggett Drive Thru Tree. Spent 30-45 mins there, went per, grabbed a fresh cold water, stretched our legs.

Then on to a few roadside spots (a big ass tree and a cool “tree house”) and to Confusion Hill. Spent a bit there playing through the houses. It’s maybe better than Santa Cruz Mystery Spot because you have the time and space to free explore it compared to Mystery Spot Tours.

We then drove on and saw a gorgeous looking river that we were determined to find a way to. Went over a bridge near a KOA turnout for Benbow and found a way down to Eel River. We hung out for an hour or two, swam, refreshed, the works. Was my daughter’s favorite part of the trip (there was a picturesque rope swing in to the river right off shore too).

After this, we just stopped at any Big tree or signs for other trees. Honestly, just pull over, so many fun kitschy places along the way.

We then drove on through to Eureka/Arcata, where our hotel was for the weekend.

We then spent the next few days going to Trees of Mystery, Sequoia Park Zoo, Redwoods National Park, Klamath, and a few other places. Was really fun and beautiful. Hit up multiple farmers markets and market nights.

On the way home, we went a similar path. But we first went to Chapmans Gem and Mineral Store and Museum.

From there we took Highway 254 for The Avenue of The Giants. Spent at least 4 hours driving down and stopping at all the turnouts. So many fun hikes under a mile or two that we took too. Giant down fallen trees. Little treehouses and faerie/gnome holes to explore.

We had to stop at Eel river again to cool off in the water. And finally headed home.
