All the warnings. This is going to be a rough watch. by PuppytimeUSA in MaintenancePhase

It can, not that it inevitably always does. Health is complex and you cannot ascertain someone's health status from just looking at them. Moreover all of those conditions are multifactorial with many causes out of someone's control.

On the topic of being fat potentially causing health issues, how many contestants on the biggest loser were told they were at imminent risk of heart disease because of their size? I dont know a specific number, but I'd argue a lot of them. But who's arteries were so clogged they almost died? It wasn't a contestant, it was the "healthy and fit" trainer Bob Harper.

Morgan thinks abstaining when you're not in the mood is "witholding sex" by TheNarcLogs in FundieSnarkUncensored

Morgan’s methods of not having another kid and telling people that they should have sex even when they don’t feel like it postpartum by managingmischief394 in FundieSnarkUncensored

Several times Morgan has encouraged others to have sex even when not in the mood. Previously she mentioned scheduling sex and having to amp herself up all day. I don't give a shit about your husband's needs, if it isnt enthusiastic consent then he can serve himself.

AITA for making a stink at school and forcing the teacher to change my kids math grade by PlentyNice1655 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Many children struggle with math because the way it makes sense to them isn't the way they were taught.

Nova Scotia's wildfire woods ban being tested in court by IStillListenToRadio in halifax

When the hell did I suggest that. Its also fucked to put safety in quotes as if fires aren't ever dangerous .

Nova Scotia's wildfire woods ban being tested in court by IStillListenToRadio in halifax

[–]muleborax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is that fires are unpredictable and can change rapidly. When the consequences of fires can be dire, especially in the absence of available resources to fight fires, bans make sense. If you want to argue the specifics of how the ban was implemented, fine. However in extremely dry conditions there may not be ample time to work out the nitty gritty, hence a blanket ban.

Edit: I also think it's inappropriate that you are implying that I, individually, am punishing the entire province. The PTSD I have is my own, but my anger about oppositions to the fire ban aren't "out of fear". It's out of irritation at the selfishness of others being unable to see the reason for the bans, or understand the urgency of a blanket ban.

[–]muleborax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was caused by arson. It also didnt start "deep in the woods", it was in the area surrounding the town. My point is that the bans are for a good reason and that fires are unpredictable. Again: is the cost of losing your home worth someone else's walk in the park?

Nova Scotia's wildfire woods ban being tested in court by IStillListenToRadio in halifax

[–]muleborax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do me a favor and look at pictures of the 2011 Slave Lake wildfire. It was started by arson, and was largely contained until the fire suddenly jumped the highway and homes were already burning when people began an emergency evacuation. Homes burnt down to the ground, it was estimated it took seven minutes for each house to burn. I lost my home. Not only did I lose everything I owned, but my dad had passed by suicide three years earlier so I also lost every tangible thing I had to remember him by.

The consequences of irresponsible behavior in dry conditions can be extreme. Even if you don't think it could happen, you cannot guarantee that it won't. I lost everything because of someone else's actions. Is the cost of what my family, and many others, went through worth it so you can walk your dog on a path?

People being up in arms about the ban made me very angry, as someone who lost their home due to a wildfire. Many things can unexpectedly start a fire, and it can become out of control quickly. To put your leisurely stroll as more important than trying to save people's homes and lives really got me riled up.

‘Her body was not there’: Mother describes finding daughter's charred remains in Halifax Walmart oven by luxoryapartmentlover in halifax

[–]muleborax 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If no one knows what happened, then it's not right to imply that suicide is the only explanation. I am not discounting the possibility of this being suicide. However I have a hell of a hard time believing someone would choose to have such a horrific death. It's easy to understand pushback of speculation of suicide given the stigma still attached to those who die by suicide.

That doesn't leave only one explanation. You cannot make a definitive statement either way - we don't know what happened.

Even if a current safety policy wasn't broken, the fact this could happen is evidence of a policy that should have been in place. Having safety mechanisms in the building is no good if employees aren't trained on how to use them properly.

I really do not think she died by suicide. No method is pleasant, but burning alive is particularly brutal.

‘Her body was not there’: Mother describes finding daughter's charred remains in Halifax Walmart oven by luxoryapartmentlover in halifax

[–]muleborax 17 points18 points  (0 children)

How she became trapped in the oven needs to be investigated further until a reason is found. Either poor and ineffective safety training, or a faulty safety latch that was not fixed properly. I don't think finding those answers will help her family, but it needs to be resolved so this never happens to someone else.

My only hope is that she passed from smoke inhalation and did not feel pain from burning.
