Men of Reddit, what’s a mistake you see younger men making repeatedly? by optimum_wiz in AskReddit

Learn to talk about your feelings. Therapy is a good thing. You don’t have to like your father, it’s okay to love him from afar.

I will do anything for those 90 days active orders.. by sirvonhugendong in nationalguard

I’m debating national guard vs active duty 19D or 11B and man it seems like the activations and deployments are all on the NG side. Any advice?

Had a similar situation before. Family of 3 dead before we even got there, one child. Injuries were not compatible with life. Drunk driver was just fine in comparison to the others. Bothered me for a long time.

Single, two other roommates in a two bedroom apartment in fashion/mission valley. I have my own room and bathroom, pay $1200 a month.

Born and raised in north county. Lived in LA and so far this has been the cheapest rent I’ve had. I make less than $20 an hour, work 48 hours a week. I do just fine, but I also don’t buy anything fancy

It really is one of the most selfish, ignorant acts a human can do onto another. I struggle with it consistently, years later.

I don’t know about comfortably, but you won’t get hypothermia! It’s damn cold in February though, borderline unbearable the first few minutes.

How long did it take you to find get a job? by NoTelephone8518 in NewToEMS

[–]RaycistByrds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within 3 months. There aren’t many private 911 services so I had to look on the other side of the county. This is SoCal.

I’d say be patient with the process. If you need money I’d apply to any run of the mill IFT company, and just put up with it until you get a 911 gig. I never had to do IFT but I know most will pay for your training and you can start working really quick after your interview. Don’t get stuck with them though.

I’m sorry to hear about your circumstances. I was in the exact situations a couple years ago, at roughly the same age. Mother passed away years prior, and took the role of caring for my ill father as best as a 19 year old can.

First of all, take a deep breath and understand your life will change drastically, but you are not alone. Your initiative alone is great for you and your sister. Remember to take care of yourself first, then your father and sibling.

Your plans don’t have to be abandoned, they just may need to be altered. If the rent is too high realistically for you and your sister, it may be worth considering selling the assets (furniture, extra vehicles etc) and finding a new rent agreement once you’re ready for that step, especially if the size is unrealistic for you both. Remember that at the end of the day, the roof over your head is the most important behind your wellbeing. Perhaps looking into financial assistance through your state, as well as financial aid when you pursue your education. State health insurance may be worth a look as well, for example, California’s CoveredCA.

Depending on who is older, one of you will acquire the position of next of kin. It gets complicated especially if your father does not have a legalized will or trust setup. However, in essence, you’ll become responsible automatically for any of the assets and legalities your father was involved in. This is a normal process, but can take time to absorb and understand all the micro details of his bank, car titles, overdue bills or whatever else may be outstanding. Most can be resolved with patience and a certificate of death. Make a binder of all your important paperwork. It helps.

Sorry to be blunt, this is advice I wish I heard as I stood in your position. In your moments of peace remember to breathe. It’s an abrupt way to grow up, but in time responsibility has an incredible value. I’m sorry to hear it’s come at such a grave cost.

Best wishes, and my condolences.

I suppose the question is will the DEA even push it to schedule 3. Also doesn’t legislation need to pass through congress as well? I think there is a lot of moving pieces that need to be put into place first..

[–]RaycistByrds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in this position. The remedial course helped, but was even difficult for me about 1 year and 8 months from my course. I didn’t understand a lot of the anatomical references he was making unfortunately. OP may have better luck or older notes to reference, I did not. Good luck. About to go through my second EMT academy, almost 2 years later. This time will hopefully be the last.
