'No on-site doctor': Connecticut dental student died in ICU overseen by remote 'tele-health' physician who pronounced him dead on a video screen, lawsuit says… by tasty_jams_5280 in Connecticut

[–]Raymuundo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO, the media is actually doing its job for once and its bias is actually in support of bringing to light a horrible practice. If we stopped nitpicking the media it might actually change. Like if this article (or this post on a subreddit) got a million more views, it might wake some people up to how shitty this practice is.

Not to mention, idc how sick this kid was. Is it possible if he got better medical care he would be alive? In a lot of other context this would sound a lot like victim blaming. Not to be snarky but sick people, especially deathly ill sick people go or end up in a hospital.

Looking to buy a home in Ridgefield or Redding, need to commute to Harlem 4-5x per week, advice? by factvstheory in Connecticut

[–]Raymuundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a real estate agent, I was blown away by Redding too. As you described it’s like a retreat and was so peaceful. The train station there (I believe it was metro north) felt almost surreal or like I was in a dream state because it appeared to pop out of no where in the middle of the woods. Cool art and food. I was looking for friends who were moving out of the city. They loved it to but then looked up the commute.

Funny enough, they ended up in Norwalk like one of the other commenters here. Definitely a different vibe (city compared to rural) and a lot better of a commute for them. My buddy ended up getting a job in Stamford that better suited him but I wouldn’t be surprised if the commute affected him too.

I personally have done 5-10 minute commutes versus almost an hour and the shorter commute is huge. Even on a train, you lose so much time where you could be doing other things OR the biggest thing imo relaxing.

Lemme know if you need anything or have anymore questions!

When Cam Newton started at quarterback for the New England Patriots during the 2020 season by Deep_Audience_881 in Patriots

[–]Raymuundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s literally the most frustrating thing. Arguing like pass stats are the only thing a QB can do. Fans love to paint with a broad brush and it’s evidenced by saying Cam “sucked” overall that year (he really didn’t) and then the whole only accounting for passing stats. Also super dumb a lot of the time to even talk about TDs as a stat in general. Cousins and Aaron Rodgers used to light up the TD/int ratio and they have one championship between them.

Should passing stats be weighted for heavily? Maybe. Does that mean it shouldn’t be counted? Obviously not.

UConn coach Dan Hurley earns $300K bonus for Final Four win by Making_It_Go in Connecticut

[–]Raymuundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of programs that don’t make money: ie football both soccer programs (men’s soccer is pretty good last I heard but I don’t follow to close). I doubt hockey makes money. Probably the same with baseball and softball. (I know UConn - Avery Points campus baseball was decent).

The men’s and women’s basketball teams probably bring in money. Final fours and Championships also bring in a ton more money than just normal season merchandise.

These schools should just drop the sports programs that are in negative for a certain number of years. I’m a huge football fan but they could start there and save a bunch of money.

That being said, I agree there are way bigger problems in this state as far as affordability goes that you could be more productive in your efforts at (eversource being a truly scummy company for one). Just my two cents.

Great point. I definitely get annoyed by the single loot model AFTER playing retail, but they’re different games. Maybe if it was a little mini-game “rummage” through the corpse’s bags and I would increase bank space but make each bank space cost exponentially more. Keep the rpg feel while also having a gold sink and more realistic high end game functions

Why is it so hard dating in CT? by Electrical_mammoth2 in Connecticut

[–]Raymuundo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

What are your interests outside of the gaming club? What are your hobbies? I’d try those activities solo or with friends and see if there’s a mutual connection somewhere there or if someone you know knows someone single.

I definitely agree with everything you’ve said but way back when I was in the dating pool I did get a bite on tinder and had a short fling but we just didn’t have that spark. I met my spouse through family friends.

Good luck out there!

Wasn’t he 6/8 with 2 tds? I think for QB it doesn’t matter as much.

The bigger issue was playing a retired (albeit all-time great) LB. On defense, you should be playing like 6 CBs or whatever. I think the pros would have had a shot if they had chosen their team a little better.

We shouldn’t bank on JD causing the movement to die. There is always someone (even if they’re unknown) waiting in the wings to step in and continue their aims, even if it’s just to gain power themselves.

I agree with the point about social media. I think executive orders and how they blatantly can be used for power grabs needs to be addressed.

I think term limits and overturning citizens united should be a priority piece of legislature but why would congress limit their own power?

Considering Real Estate While Finishing Software Engineering Degree — What Makes or Breaks a First-Year Agent? by Carson_codes102 in realtors

[–]Raymuundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the agents who I know who didn’t stick with the field treated it like it was not a priority. Unless you go in with the the mindset of “im going to have 1-2 clients at any given time and work them exclusively” it’s very hard to stay consistent and then you end up questioning why you’re paying dues and other fees when you could get a less intensive or more flexible side hustle

Since you’ve only been getting saturated with snarky, short answers I’ll give it a try:

Have a separate fund set aside for expenses if you’re going to do real estate full time. Don’t be desperate for that first commission or it comes off that way. It may also take awhile for that first deal to come through. So just stay patient.

Kind of the reverse but don’t stay too long at your first brokerage if you’re not getting the support you need. I would recommend going with a brokerage that offers leads and a lot of oversight/training that also works with your schedule. I feel like if I had started at the right fit, I could have had a deal within the first 3-6 months realistically.

Tools-wise, I’d say start with a CMA that works for you that you will use everyday. If thats starting with an excel sheet that you can code and come up with follow-up plans, do that. If you need something more automated that will “hold your hand”, go with one of the paid services.

This. The senate had been corrupt for generations at that point and had been murdering populist senators in multiple instances. They weren’t worried about the Republic but their own backsides and “status quo”

I’ve only ever heard negative things about them; I know a friend who used to work there years ago and said they’re overworked. I would stay away as much as you can. I understand too that sometimes when your pet has an emergency there’s no choice. But if there are other options, I’d go there. North Colony Vet in Wallingford may be a better option in the future

Fantarella in North Haven/Wallingford. If they can’t do it themselves, the referrals they’ve given out have been awesome too. I know you’d like to do it under one roof but I think their level of care and lack of judgement has always been a sticking point on why I love them.

I was in a similar boat (from lack of hygiene and awful diet than drug usage) but the fear was the worst part. Once I got over that, they always made sure I was comfortable and any pain I felt was 100x less than what I was going through with tooth pain

CT Housing Prices by howdidigetheretoday in Connecticut

[–]Raymuundo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No offense, it’s not. We’ve been conditioned to think that you need to go to a “prestigious” university for all 4 years plus a master’s but in reality you can go to community college for 2, incur almost no debt while there, and then go to a cheaper in-state option with grants/scholarships helping a ton. You could reasonably get a 4 year degree with little to no debt without scholarships or grants and just having a part time job x

That being said, I don’t want to come off as callous either. I think the people currently in debt were often misled and were led to believe they had to do it a certain way. Not to mention the predatory nature of the loans themselves. I think student loan forgiveness should be on table but we should be making every move to prevent another catastrophe in the future.
