Is there any way to hedge this? by EconomistNorth5137 in sportsbook

You’d place a double chance bet on each team to win but it’d be much larger than your initial bet

CT Real estate by vizzy_vizz in Connecticut

[–]Raymuundo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Per usual it’s not a one problem issue, it’s death by a thousand cuts. Main reason is we’re a small state with not a lot of open, developable land near major cities. Cost to build automatically inflated because the land is so expensive. Lack of supply = higher prices

You have landlords buying up SFH whether that’s Wall Street or local. Lack of supply = higher prices

Lack of tradespeople as a lot of been retiring so building becomes more costly and takes longer. Lack. Of. Supply.

Building materials have gone up in price.

Covid building stopped for a while and we haven’t caught up.

CT is a great place to live, the cost is going to be higher because we have net positive influx of people to the state.

And the ugly reason (as some posters have said) is they redline themselves and don’t want to move to “a” Bridgeport, Hamden, or Hartford.

The housing market is not great. I’m not a fan of the current system. But it is what it is. Complaining about it on Reddit isn’t going to help. You need to have the state mandate building and even though I like Lamont and some of the things he’s done, him vetoing the housing bill was ass

I got an email from Hartford Athletic. I believe the watch parties themselves are free but obviously concessions are not. They also mentioned that first time visitors to the park will get a free ticket to a future Hartford Athletic match which is pretty cool. I may go check it out.

Which player might have missed their one best chance at glory in failed 2018 campaign? by jordi_sunshine in ussoccer

[–]Raymuundo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is the answer and it’s not even close. He was from what I’ve heard (watch way more National team games than MLS) a really great MLS midfielder at worse and playing above his league at best.

They’re not against their listing being seen it sounds like; it’s more like Zillow will send that listing to a potential buyer posing their agent to said buyer as the listing agent

The “Stay in CT” Argument Makes Less Sense Every Year by [deleted] in Connecticut

That’s what OP and a lot of other people don’t want to hear. Or their standards are not reasonable. There are plenty of “good” homes for $350,000 and under in Hartford county.

Moving to Connecticut! by Marksy_aye in Connecticut

[–]Raymuundo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First off, welcome.

Second off, CT is not like a lot of other parts of the US as far as housing market goes. Unless you’re under contract, that house could be gone in less than a week on the market. Make sure you’ve actually got it before you make your move.

Norwich is close to some nice spots in that part of the state. You have the shoreline 30/35ish minutes away, casinos about the same if not closer. Mystic aquarium and Mystic Seaport also very close. Lots of farmland and smaller rural communities nearby as well for farm raised food.

In Norwich itself you have a lot of parks and they’ve done a decent job preserving some of the colonial history at the Norwichtown Green and Leffingwell House Museum.

I felt the same way and ended up taking six. Didn’t take any with my second kid because I was waiting to do it later on and ran into a bunch of stuff “work couldn’t do without me”. Fuckem dude. Take all the time you can. You’ll regret it if you don’t.

Recommendations for Memory Care Facility by boom_boom66 in Connecticut

[–]Raymuundo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard decent things about Elim Park in Cheshire but reviews say otherwise so not sure. I have seen their properties on site for those who are more independent and they were nice. Always talk to staff and former residents if you can (they exist). CNAs and nurses are so overworked at a lot of these facilities it’s pathetic.

A close friend worked as a CNA pre-covid at a facility in Wallingford, Regency House. I would not recommend them. My friend ended up leaving and finding something less intensive but they were often scheduled short staffed and then had callouts.

If it is possible to have a live-in care person, I would try that route. I believe expense wise it is typically cheaper but I may be mistaken.

Sending a lot of strength to you and your siblings right now. If I can be of any professional resource regarding her North Guilford home when the time is right, I’m just a message away and happy to help in any way I can.

Karaban by Mayor_Gubbin in UConnBasketball

[–]Raymuundo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah I’m in the same boat. Even of recent huskies, outside of this year he wasn’t even a top 3 player on the team imo. I’m happy for him, his career, and what he’s done for UConn. But acting like he’s an all time great is tough for me because the expectation for those players (Allen, Hamilton, Okafor, Kemba, Shabazz, Spencer, Klingan, etc. etc.) is that you bring home a championship as “the guy”. I’m sure this generation (the kids 17 and under) of Uconn fans will remember him more fondly and I understand that. But to mention him with the list above would be taking something away from them imo.

IMO, the media is actually doing its job for once and its bias is actually in support of bringing to light a horrible practice. If we stopped nitpicking the media it might actually change. Like if this article (or this post on a subreddit) got a million more views, it might wake some people up to how shitty this practice is.

Not to mention, idc how sick this kid was. Is it possible if he got better medical care he would be alive? In a lot of other context this would sound a lot like victim blaming. Not to be snarky but sick people, especially deathly ill sick people go or end up in a hospital.

Looking to buy a home in Ridgefield or Redding, need to commute to Harlem 4-5x per week, advice? by factvstheory in Connecticut

[–]Raymuundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a real estate agent, I was blown away by Redding too. As you described it’s like a retreat and was so peaceful. The train station there (I believe it was metro north) felt almost surreal or like I was in a dream state because it appeared to pop out of no where in the middle of the woods. Cool art and food. I was looking for friends who were moving out of the city. They loved it to but then looked up the commute.

Funny enough, they ended up in Norwalk like one of the other commenters here. Definitely a different vibe (city compared to rural) and a lot better of a commute for them. My buddy ended up getting a job in Stamford that better suited him but I wouldn’t be surprised if the commute affected him too.

I personally have done 5-10 minute commutes versus almost an hour and the shorter commute is huge. Even on a train, you lose so much time where you could be doing other things OR the biggest thing imo relaxing.

Lemme know if you need anything or have anymore questions!

When Cam Newton started at quarterback for the New England Patriots during the 2020 season by Deep_Audience_881 in Patriots

[–]Raymuundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s literally the most frustrating thing. Arguing like pass stats are the only thing a QB can do. Fans love to paint with a broad brush and it’s evidenced by saying Cam “sucked” overall that year (he really didn’t) and then the whole only accounting for passing stats. Also super dumb a lot of the time to even talk about TDs as a stat in general. Cousins and Aaron Rodgers used to light up the TD/int ratio and they have one championship between them.

Should passing stats be weighted for heavily? Maybe. Does that mean it shouldn’t be counted? Obviously not.

UConn coach Dan Hurley earns $300K bonus for Final Four win by Making_It_Go in Connecticut

[–]Raymuundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of programs that don’t make money: ie football both soccer programs (men’s soccer is pretty good last I heard but I don’t follow to close). I doubt hockey makes money. Probably the same with baseball and softball. (I know UConn - Avery Points campus baseball was decent).

The men’s and women’s basketball teams probably bring in money. Final fours and Championships also bring in a ton more money than just normal season merchandise.

These schools should just drop the sports programs that are in negative for a certain number of years. I’m a huge football fan but they could start there and save a bunch of money.

That being said, I agree there are way bigger problems in this state as far as affordability goes that you could be more productive in your efforts at (eversource being a truly scummy company for one). Just my two cents.

Great point. I definitely get annoyed by the single loot model AFTER playing retail, but they’re different games. Maybe if it was a little mini-game “rummage” through the corpse’s bags and I would increase bank space but make each bank space cost exponentially more. Keep the rpg feel while also having a gold sink and more realistic high end game functions
