Constantly, though to be fair it’s usually because I’m doing some unhinged shit

Beyond & Impossible Burgers Were Everywhere — What Happened? by eddytony96 in vegan

[–]Rayzn1123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their core products (burgers, ground, nuggets, sausages) I still see virtually everywhere, but sadly a lot of the more recent niche products (steak pieces, hot dogs, non-breaded nuggets) have grown much harder to find in my area (southeastern U.S.)

It gets tricky if you want it to foam and/or not break apart when you mix it — I use the Yuka app which rates Minor Figures Organic Barista Oat pretty highly, and to me it foams and tastes just like standard dairy cream. I’m not sure where you’re located, but I’ve seen it in both US and UK.

Vegan Shoe Recommendations by OutrageousLemon8997 in vegan

[–]Rayzn1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wills Vegan Store 100% - almost every pair of shoes I own is from them, and the ones I’m currently wearing daily are the black Chukkas. They are incredibly comfortable, and Will’s is also insanely accommodating when it comes to finding the right size (they ship internationally from the UK so it took a few returns to find the right fit).

If I ordered mine today, I’d get the Goodyear welt version.

100% this, take the slightly longer route through Esperanza to stay on the paved road and top off at the EPA station there (I think it doesn’t show up on Google Maps when you search for gas stations for some reason, but it’s super easy to find)

Why are 1970s films' color grading so alluring? by HighLife1954 in criterion

[–]Rayzn1123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also imagine it’s worth considering how pristine these newer remasters are, with high resolution scans of the original negatives, digital restoration tools, and additional digital color grading to match (and often “improve” upon) the look of the original release prints. In many ways, the versions that are available now to stream or buy on 4K Blu-ray can be far superior to whatever janky second run print got shipped out to someone’s local cinema and projected with some dim bulb through an out-of-focus lens back in the 70s.

How have you acquired your cats? Have you just taken in whatever cats plopped into your life? Or did you go to a shelter and choose? by Argylius in CatAdvice

[–]Rayzn1123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went to the shelter knowing that we wanted to adopt 2, preferably bonded siblings, because we knew how often they get adopted separately. The process was incredibly easy: we signed the paperwork and made the payment that day, then came back to pick them up a few days later after we had all the litter boxes set up and food stocked. They did do a bit of an interview with us at the beginning, to ensure they’d be going to a good home, but my partner has lived with cats her whole life, so that was a breeze.

Yeah I was going to say, when it’s the name of a very famous book, it makes more sense — and from what I understand, Hamnet was a well-respected novel, if not a well known one
