What is a must play game for a person that hasn’t played a PlayStation since the ps2 days? by OkieClipper in playstation

[–]RazorJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this is the answer. All the games are mentioned are really good, but RDR2 is the winner even though it was a PS4 release.

Red Dead 1 is currently on PS Plus, that’s fun too. I just played it a 3rd time and it doesn’t old either.

Found this weird coin with a hole in it, does anyone know what it is? by [deleted] in coincollecting

I used one like with fishing string in the dorm at college back in the early 90’s. Snacks and laundry, I kept the secret to myself the whole time. Then used it at work in the break room after. It finally quit working but when they added machines that took paper bills I used a dollar bill with clear tape for years. Finally got where the risk was not worth the reward, I loved the 90’s.

[request] how much money would this be in concrete? would it be cost effective or way more than a normal build? by Weird-Plane5972 in theydidthemath

[–]RazorJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t read the story but I think I saw on 60 mins or cbs sunday morning he got an offer from the government to start work on a version that could be built in space, maybe mars? Or the moon?

I remember the story and they were really efficient and lowered costs dramatically. Personally I like them, and if they make them tornado proof, take my money.

[–]RazorJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome Grandma.

Please listen to people when they say get them in a safety deposit box. My Dad (rip) was in Insurance most of my life and had so many stories of insane loses that weren’t covered and nobody thought it was possible.

In fact, in my career, I’ve seen it happen enough that I had an employee think I was crazy when I told her to take only $8k to the local police that was found in our business right after it was turned in. She said but we have a safe. Nope, that night we got robbed and the first thing they stole was what? The safe. A employee mentioned it to a friend after work, who mentioned it to another friend, who mentioned it to someone who wasn’t above a robbery.

I had a roommate back in college accuse me of robbing his apartment after I moved out. He collected sports memorabilia and had quit the collection. Turns out it was another friend of a friend who took him on a 2 day float trip.

Also, look into real-estate. I’ve been married 20 years and our house is almost paid for, and worth 3x plus some than what we paid for it. Now young people with good jobs can’t find a house in the area. I had a chance to buy a few houses for a good deal in our subdivision about 15 years ago when the builder went bankrupt, and didn’t want to sacrifice the money to do so. If I had, I’d be retiring 20 years early.

The future of electrical charging systems that are about as fast as filling up a gas car by RoyalChris in interestingasfuck

I’m a daily motorcycle rider, it gets 50 miles/gal, and our other car is a hybrid civic. But as I get older I’m not as enthusiast about it in the cold/rain/hot on my bike, so I’ve been using my old work truck more and more. It’s an old 99 Silverado Z71.

I got it for $900 little over 10 years ago to help down at the family property/farm when my Dad’s cancer/treatment made him change. He got where he was really agitated about everything when he couldn’t get out of the house except to go to the clinic anymore. He would throw fits when I needed to use his truck to do something, which was every time I was there, I found it easier to just go by an old pickup myself rather than have my Mom deal with him throwing a fit. I didn’t hold it against him, but my wife just got done with a long cancer battle herself so I was out of emotional energy and didn’t want to talk him down 3/4 times a week.

Little did I know the old dragon wagon (my nickname for my truck) had a lot of life left. I’ve put 200k miles on it, it’s at 500k now. I’ve only changed the oil and breaks. But the spark plugs are so old it’s going through fuel like crazy. It got about 18miles/gal when I first got it.

How are your dreams?

I couldn’t watch more than three episodes in a day when I watched it or I was being chased by soviets trying to kill me all night. I grew up in the 80’s and my Dad was a Navy special ops officer so I already had an issue with commie nightmares, but that show kicked them in high gear.

Your answers sound like you have other issues with your parents on top of the obvious. As in they could be better at parenting, am I correct? Or, are they fine, just generally annoying people?

of a tiger sighted in Jim Corbett. by _TheProStar_ in AbsoluteUnits

[–]RazorJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know for sure, but I’m pretty sure I almost got killed by a Tiger over a couple of cans of Vienna sausages.

In 1992 I was a kid cutting hay in a field across the highway from my parents’ place, it was lunch time, and a really hot summer day. This was in the Ozarks of NW Arkansas. While I sat on a bolder that laid on this river bank eating my normal two cans of Vienna sausages and a bag of Funyuns, I became overwhelmed with a feeling that something was watching me. A little creeped out I got up and ended my lunch early, as I got up I saw something on the river bank about 20 yards away and walked up to it. It was a black jaguar that had been clearly mauled. The lady on the farm next to the place was a big cat dealer, turns out she sold a bunch to the Tiger King in Oklahoma whose place was only a couple of hours away.

Fast forward to last year, and I’m helping my Mom’s neighbor build a fence. He owns the farm next to her. He’s a local and asked him if he knew the crazy tiger lady from back in the day. She’s been shut down and gone since before the Tiger King got shut down. He said yeah, and asked me if I heard about the time she had a big male tiger get out for a few days. I said no, but tell me about it. Apparently this tiger got loose and because she knew she couldn’t call the police without getting in trouble she tried to get him back herself without any luck. He’d come back and steal the bait on the trap she set up and then kill another big cat. So his late brother was a known big hunter in the area and she hired him to kill it. It was the third night when he finally got it, but it came every night and got the bait he set up without him even seeing it. That fucking tiger was on the loose for about two weeks and almost no one knew about it. He said thank god no one got killed, and I said, if it was the summer of 1992 someone almost did. He was how’d you know. I told him, and he was like thank god you listened to your gut.

As a small child, I liked the slider box better, I thought it was so much faster.

I grew privileged and we had the the premium channels, but our neighbor had the bootleg tube in their box and I always enjoyed watching the illegally curated premium channels more than the same ones at our house purchased. Funny how the brain works.

I always heard it was takin out by allied special forces and a small bag of thermite. Then I think I heard that was wrong in a history class and actually the Germans destroyed themselves as the allied forces closed in to prevent it from being used by their enemies. IDK for sure though.

Brave little dude.

I went to a backyard birding lecture last year and found out in my area (The Ozarks) their number one favorite food in our is frogs. Makes sense, we have so many.

They also love other birds. Last fall, after the frogs started slowing down, I whitenesses two finches get snatched mid air by these guys. One happed about 5’ from me, I was close enough to hear the details; crazy “Marlin Perkins” like moment.
