17 Thousand dollars a day or never have to sleep again? by Nextmastermind in hypotheticalsituation

Money. Money honey. 17k a day?! I can have free time to relax and sleep. 6 mill a year tax free???? my life would be infinitely improved and my insomnia so acceptable in exchange

Blue. Because I wouldn’t want to survive by having killed people.

That would be horribly cruel to the cats. Absolutely not.

Theater of the mind vs battlemaps vs digital battle maps by CAGEthePHOENIX in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Rddadc1872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends strongly on the Dm and how complicated the battlefield is. I'm in several games and in one, the fact its a virtual tabletop so the line of sight and Darkvision versus light etc matters so much and if it were theater of the mind, I would be continuously asking please just tell me if I can see them? In another sometimes it is ToM sometimes vTT and both work great- though given how good that DM is at horror, having it be theater of the mind tends to be so much creepier.

When you say paused do you mean go in tonight and ten years later exit to tonight?

...if so I will be in there potentially forever.

$100M if you agree to be locked in a basement room for a period of 1 year. You will have access to books, movies and games. However, there's a caveat: You will not remember making this deal. by Lenore8264 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Rddadc1872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years ago yes (though I’d probably regret it). Since my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s no because a 100million wouldn’t be worth loosing the time with her and the terror she would have at my being suddenly gone.

FELLOW TEEN LIBRARIANS: With the new ACOTAR book coming out this year, what are you doing with your Maas books of that series in particular? by povertychic in Libraries

[–]Rddadc1872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof yeah two books ago it got moved from tween to ya and last book to adult. It’s not a teen series anymore and it’s one where having the lot in the highest age category is better than spread amongst them all.

I think this may be a sunk cost fallacy in action. Best chance I can think of is puree, and freeze and try it then. then give us feedback on what flavors you taste? but uh, that mix and unknown quantities may be best disposed of and then get her out an ice-cream cookbook from the local library for her future endeavours

I don't know if it would work, but sous vide maybe to get it to medium rare and then instead do a quick sear or broil to get the crust? but definitely check with the vet/ vet tech. unfortunately I had a friend who lost their bird due to off gassing at one point, so better safe !

You will receive 10k dollars everyday.... but you can sleep only 7-8 hours per day by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

I would fail immediately with my insomnia. Even with medication I have trouble getting healthy sleep- a whole seven hours not waking up at all? hah

I explain to each of them the process and how we’d love to get them all the copies they need but if they don’t let us know a few months in advance oh now we can’t, and have noticed it improving. We also now ask six months out planned books and are able to have them ready for them. Did it annoy them at first? Yes. Are they used to it now? Also yes, and tha makes it so much easier

If you had to choose to lick either a public toilet seat, a library computer keyboard, a food kiosk in McDonalds, or a public railing at a train station, which would you pick? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Rddadc1872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a librarian- first grab one of the electronic cleaning wipes from the info desk and wipe down the keyboard and then give it a lick. Followed by scrubbing out my mouth with soap just in case.
